How to Make an ARG for a Complete Beginner?

Hey. I've gotten back into ARGs, and I'd like to create one of my own. I know enough to know that I won't be launching anytime soon, and it'll probably go through a lot of planning, but I still do want to make one; the only problem is I don't how to make the puzzles/a good puzzletrail/a good trailhead (and other etc things). I wanted to look at ARG post-mortems to see how they did it, but most of them have been taken down (a lot of the articles too), so that leaves me with no knowledge of how to actually handle running one.

Anyone here got good up to date links about the intricacies of running/making an ARG? Good puzzle ideas, how to make the various social media accounts look realistic (dates and such), and things of that nature would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Greetings. I tried making a couple of videos to introduce to my arg but they did not have much attention and honestly I feel like they are not good enough, but I cant exactly pin point why. Does anyone know how I could improve them?

It might be helpful if you mentioned the style or scope of the project, so anyone who has similar interests can stand up. Example: I'd be into writing material for invented newspaper articles or reviewing plot, but not writing an extensive diary from an invented character...

I'm sorry, but fuck's sake, it can't go on forever. We only have nine videos. People are expecting resolution. We could use the Highwayman videos to maybe extend things? Maybe the Lusk set? See, problem there is they don't match up with the original set. It's thematically and aesthetically jarring.

Working new territories. A new project? A new storyline? Now those could make good use of your full collection.

On December 9th, 2016, Jack Q. Pembry made a new post on The Happy Cube: Debts Due .

The soundcloud file he links to, And They Will Be Paid, seems to be a recording of SenorBambos. The primary clue for this is the speaker's references to the mysterious topic of conversation "never contacting him from the same E-Mail address twice." When Bambos reappeared to answer questions after theembodiment disappeared, he said this, verbatim, of The Puppetmaster. Bear in mind that there are point in the recording when Bambos seems to be responding to someone, and it's hard to tell, at this point who exactly he's speaking with, or how.

On December 21st, 2016, This Is Him was posted. This seems to be a conversation, or parts of multiple conversations/statements. If it matches up to And They Will Be Paid, it's unknown how.

On December 30th, 2016 The Places You Call Home was posted. The document, heavily redacted by Pembry, traces the whereabouts of *** (name redacted). based on context clues, especially after Bambos is mentioned, it's clear that *** is The Puppetmaster.

On January 26th, 2017, A minor Interlude. A minor person. was posted. The post consists of two pictures. These are someone's notes. They are not Puppetmaster's, referring to them in the third person. Both the author and the subject are indeterminate.

On January 27th, 337200720082009337-JB-ForFirstGroupReviewC1/3 was posted. This is a series of behind-the-scenes messages between someone by the online alias of Copperfist . At the beginning of his story arc, Copperfist was a reported online alias of a character you might ALL remember: Joseph Bright.

Hello.

I'm a relatively new PM, currently working on a new ARG.

This is not intended to be transparency area, not in one bit, but more a way for PM's to possibly help each out with writing or story points.

I specifically am looking for a little help with some setup on my end of the field, needing a tad of help with my story writing if any PM (or helpful friend?) could help me out with the concept at all.

yeah no, have fun.... FYI most PM teams set up their own private places to plan and do stuff for their own games. Also MANY PMs are also players of other games, so eventually your reddit will be as open as any other forum.

example: Jon and Jess are PMs for "Grow a Foot" They join private PM only forum to talk to PMs from other games to try to get some free consultations. Sean and Sarah are PMs for "The Lost Foot" They also join said forum for same reason. Jon plays "The Lost Foot" and Sean plays "Grow a Foot"

Now multiply that times however many members you will have. It's no different than any open discussions here.
