[INFO] responses to request for DVD from Dana

I thought it might be a good idea to have a thread for us not attending the 4th or 7th to post when we get replies from the e-mails sent to Dana asking for the DVD. I sent my request right after lunch (around 11PST) and have not heard anything yet. If I do, I will let folks know. Please feel free to do the same. :)

(again, thebruce... if you do not get one, and I do, I would be honored to send it to you as I feel you deserve it more than I do... I will send ya mine if that were to happen, I just ask that you let me see it first. :))

[EMAIL] Emails to PMs (Elan)

I didn't get a chance to ask Elan my question in the IRC chat, so I rabidly jumped on his offer to email him further questions after the end of the chat. This is our correspondence so far.

Lt. Col. JR reporting for duty

JR
to elanlee
More options Nov 7 (22 hours ago)
Lt. Col. JR here. I had an excellent time playing for you guys - you
wouldn't believe the looks I got playing a travel guitar for a pay
phone resting on my knee, and setting up the camera and tripod to take
a decent photo of me in front of that pay phone drew even more stares.
On top of that, words cannot express how glad I am that you
appreciated the song, even though the guitar was a cheap travel one
that hadn't been tuned in several blue moons and desparately needed
new strings, and I goofed a couple of times on the solo. You're too
kind. Now then: What does the future hold for 42 Entertainment? I'm
sure you don't want to name names, but could you tell us (and by us I
of course mean the beekeeping society) if you have any pending clients
at the moment?

Also, if you're feeling especially gracious this evening, how did the
whole live call deal work? Was there a sort of teleprompter thing
going on? I got the whole part about the box in the middle of your
living room, but when you said that making my sandaled feet run to my
car was your decision rather than Kristen's, I became a little curious
as to how you guys managed to influence what she was saying. Did she
have an IM setup along with the rest of you?

And, finally, thank you *so much* for the whole ILB experience. I've
never before seen a community as involved, responsive, and coordinated
as the one that your team managed to inspire. I really had a great
time over the past four or five months doing this, starting with
trying to explain the whole text-in-images thing to my roommate in a
hotel room in California in late July. Little did I know that the
blank stare I got then was only to be repeated throughout the months
to come whenever my friends asked why I went to the Quarry every
Tuesday night. I guess I'll end all that rampancy by saying, again,
thank you. If you think the rest of the team might care (and I don't
doubt your emotional capacities in any form, but realize that you can
only read so many emails before your eyes start bleeding), then please
let them know I had a wonderful time.

Lt. Col. JR of the Apocalypso
Crew member for life (not to mention rabid Douglas Adams and Pink
Floyd fan - you guys have pretty much perfect taste, as far as I'm
concerned)

Blessed are the bewildered, for they won't notice the difference.

Elan Lee
to me
4:53pm (28 minutes ago)
Hi JR!

I really wasn't kidding when I said that your playing for us was one of my
favorite memories of the game. You were willing to take a risk and behave
in a way that I'm sure you hadn't planned on when you woke up in the
morning. It was so very much appreciated. You made the game better.

I must admit, I was a bit worried about posting your audio so prominently
without permission. I was keeping my fingers crossed that you'd see it as
appreciation and not anything else.

As far as future projects go, I'm in a bit of a bind. Yes, we have more
clients, and yes we're working on a few projects at the moment. (I'm
actually working quite hard on trying to arrange a vacation, but that
probably isn't what you were poking around for.) The trick is that this
whole range of games only works if it's a surprise. I keep toying around
with the idea of asking the beekeepers to test out a new project before it
goes live, but I think the breaks a kind of trust that exists. It would be
like Dana posting in the forums. There's a wall that we all need to know
exists. Without it, it's so much harder to do something spectacular like go
out and answer a payphone. (anyway, I'd be happy to get your opinion on
this one.)

As far as live calls go, we always had five people on each of the calls.
The calls were built out of two conference systems linked together, and said
contraption in my living room. We all maintained a separate IM conversation
to feed lines and information. Here's how the cast worked:

Me: Direction/Game Progression
Sean: story references/literary references
Jim: Bit unlocking/realtime changes to website
Jane: Calling schedule/expert on players
Kristen: Making the players do crazy things they'd be embarrassed to repeat
in public

We all fed ideas to Kristen as the calls unfolded. Also, she did an
unbelievable job of riffing with people and generally making the experience
an incredible one.

Thanks so much, it was a pleasure playing the game with you!
Elan

JR
to Elan
5:39pm (0 minutes ago)
Hiya, Elan!

I completely agree as far as the element of surprise goes. The jars of
honey thing (I'm looking forward to that story whenever Jane gets
around to telling it, by the way) was a brilliant way to start off the
ARG; rumor has it there's another ARG going on that started with a
fabricated Missing Persons ad sent to ARGN, which I think is awesome.
I much prefer in-character announcements to out of character ones (as
in Project Syzygy [I think I spelled that right], whose PMs have put
out ads (ads written in code via a letter substitution cypher scheme,
but ads nonetheless) in magazines promoting said ARG. It might,
however, be interesting to note that I have elected to play Project
Syzygy rather than the ARG with the missing persons ad; interpret that
as you will, because God knows I don't know why I'm doing it.

I'm glad you posted the audio (even without permission), really, as it
made for huge bragging material whenever I showed my friends (mostly
because you so graciously turned the audio feed way down at the part
where I goofed on the solo). The setup for the live calls sounds
pretty awesome, too - if you've got some photos of the seeming
behemoth that was your living room's setup, I'm sure all of the
beekeepers would love to see them.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I'd like to take a quick
second to thank you again for talking with a humble beekeeper. I'm
sure it might not seem like much to you, but it's really quite a rush
to see an email in my inbox from a PM. On that note, I'd like to ask
you another question: Now that you've become more than a little
famous, what with the (albeit mostly crappy - god, I love parentheses)
news coverage ILB inspired, do you think that 42 Entertainment will be
expanding in the future? From what I've gathered from the junior PMs'
visits to #beekeepers, it seems like most of them freelance - do you
think you'll be taking on more core 42 members? This isn't just a
roundabout way of asking for a job, mind you, as I'm underage; I'm
just really curious as to the future of the company. I'm really
looking forward to hearing from you guys again (or, rather, playing an
amazing ARG and then finding out it was you guys behind it).

Thanks as always,
JR

PS: I'll be watching my mail for a rabbit hole - wink, wink, nudge,
nudge, you know the rest.

ABC world news tonight wants to do a story on the game. Problem: they need moving pictures cuz it's like TV. Any chance that if any of you have any you could start a thread with links to which we could point the producer?

They had called me on Friday looking for this also. I don't have any, but if you do, please post links here.
[13:51] Not me, I'm married.
[13:52] You're a PM?
[13:52] Junior PM
[13:52] On the credits.
[13:52] Woah! :)
[13:53] Well, it doesn't actually say Junior PM on the credits.
[13:53] *** Crispy` (~CrispyG4@fbb8a3c.38050f2d.mia.bellsouth.net) has joined channel #beekeepers
[13:54] Managing Editor sounds a lot better than Junior PM anyways :)
[13:54] yeah
[13:54] Writer and Puzzles, eh?
[13:54] Not much on puzzles.
[13:54] So you're the demon responsible for turning us all into pawns? :P
[13:54] * Anaerin chuckles
[13:54] Beat me to it, ONI|CdrGabriel
[13:54] hehe
[13:54] I'm really lousy at puzzles. NO! NOT THE PAWN!
[13:54] I hated that puzzle.
[13:54] So did we :)
[13:54] BalticAmberSmith: So did we.
[13:54] Glad to see we weren't alone, then.
[13:55] And the puzzle with Whistler's Mother.
[13:55] you're too kind, strifey
[13:55] So, the question I'll bet everyone's dying to ask is...
[13:55] No, I'm honest. I have experience with the puzzle writing, and I know how difficult it is.
[13:56] .. did you really have anyone on the inside, in here? Keeping a close eye on us?
[13:56] sometimes.
[13:56] Yup. You've got to work puzzles both ways.
[13:56] no, you guys were great, actually.
[13:57] cool :)
[13:57] Huh?
[13:57] * Anaerin chuckles
[13:57] we were mostly here when the waves were being released. And if something was screwed up, we reacted.
[13:57] She didn't want to go on my dating show though :( Imagine how many bachelors we would've had.
[13:57] For real?
[13:57] I don't think I can claim to be a PM.
[13:58] which part of the game did you work on?
[14:02] We scouted as many as we could, and then used payphone directories. I think. I didn't do that much with phones.
[14:02] I know they had a list of universities at the beginning where they wanted to place phones...
[14:02] Well thank whoever put one 3 feet outside my office building. That was both creepy and cool :) Though I'd guess its a coincidence
[14:02] According to the credits, there were Axon scouts, did they actually scout virtually all of the locations?
[14:02] strifey: Or they were stalking you.
[14:02] There are no coincidences, strifey. :)
[14:24] * Crispy gets the jitters.
[14:24] i wanted a "behind the scenes" documentary... 42 should do one just to capitalize on the buzz... it'd probably go along way to explaining this thing to non-beekeepers
[14:24] Yeah, I'm waiting for my email from Dana Re: the DVD, also...
[14:24] * strifey tsk tsk's Jorell
[14:24] DM, exactly. The culture that grows out of a search opera is pretty much whatever it is.
[14:24] MORE GOODER!!!
[14:24] How many of the crew did you get to meet, BalticAmberSmith?
[14:24] I don't doubt that 42 will be getting a LOT of work in the future. They made history with ILB.
[14:24] any O&A fans?
[14:24] HedgeKnight, we wanted to do one. But you know, at two in the morning, typing Standish telling Herzog that "results are results" after teaching until 9:15 at night, I was just too tired to document.
[14:24] BalticAmberSmith: By the way, how were we supposed to know "upon" was the preposition we needed to use? lol
[14:24] :)
[14:25] Ooo Ooo Amber. Were there any halariously wrong voicemail messages ont he Dana VM?
[14:25] yup ilb has set lots of minds at work in one huge collective ..... whens that ever been done before ?
[14:25] Has the Press Coverage been as good as you had hoped, assumign that was part of your goal?
[14:25] haha i understand
[14:25] Gabriel, none. I'm afraid.
[14:25] Cripsy, I told them that puzzle sucked. :)
[14:25] elvarien: i believe that one is called the beast
[14:25] BalticAmberSmith: lol
[14:25] Dewback, I'm sure there were.
[14:25] ah yes the beast
[14:25] BAS> what's next for you?
[14:25] Sep7imus, no.
[14:25] still ilb is bigger if I`m correct
[14:25] *** Signoff: SilentAvenger (Quit: )
[14:26] dunno about that one
[14:26] lol, I think the Preopositions puzzle was just flawed. A little more clues and it would have been perfect.
[14:26] Cortana, a coke and rum and a few hours of soap operas I bet >=0
[14:26] BalticAmberSmith: A simple one, really. Just how full DID Dana's G-Mail (And the hotmail) account get?
[14:26] Cortana, until I get a call again, probably working on the next novel. I have a collection of short stories out in June of 2005.
[14:26] Great! :)
[14:26] Ebvarien, ILB was bigger than the Beast, I don't doubt that. But it wasn't as revolutionary.
[14:26] not enough press coverge? yeah, that's a bummer. This seemed like a pretty big phenomenon fromthe inside.
[14:26] gmail .. 1 gig of space ... did it fill ?
[14:26] elvarien: That's what I wanna know. :)
[14:26] Well, cause Beast STARTED it.
[14:27] Exactly
[14:27] I think Orson Welles's radio drama was sort of an ARG XD
[14:27] lol
[14:27] Not really.
[14:27] Dew, unintentionally, yes.
[14:27] What's the genesis of the term Search Opera?
[14:27] i have th Ep 3 Teaser trailer
[14:27] OMG
[14:27] still i nthe line of arg ... ilb sure stamped its feet down
[14:28] *** A9Master is now known as SilentAvenger
[14:28] i think that's one of the best things (among many) that came out of this ARG, the whole radio drama thing is really almost a lost art and this has got to be one of the very few mechanisms where such a thing can be delivered and accepted anymore
[14:28] (rats...missed him by *that* much)
[14:28] BalticAmberSmith: A simple one, really. Just how full DID Dana's G-Mail (And the hotmail) account get?
[14:29] I also want to know what happened on their end with the Lil_C/BlogSpot incident
[14:29] HedgeKnight, I think Jordan Weisman, Elan and Sean are geniuses. And that's how the whole payphone radio drama thing came about.
[14:29] Anaerin: Oh, true.
[14:29] Haha.
[14:29] Well, lets guess that pictures averaged 100kb, during the picture excercise.
[14:29] That LiL_C thing was awesome.
[14:29] That's 10000 pictures to fill it.
[14:29] I saw the ladybee account, but nothing else, so I don't know.
[14:29] Ah.
[14:29] Lil_C?
[14:29] Yes, Lil_C got control of Dana's blog for about 30 minutes
[14:29] BalticAmberSmith: How long did it take you guys to fix the LiL_C on the blogspot thing?
[14:30] hmm well I was still able to send mail to dana yesterday so ..
[14:30] A little Social Engineering.
[14:30] about the dvd thing
[14:30] Crispy, not my balliwick, so I don't know.
[14:30] Not that hard, but I wouldn't have done it.
[14:30] BalticAmberSmith: Ahh, ok.
[14:30] So, BalticAmberSmith, you were largely responsible for the SP's character? what about Melissa's? (BTW, great job onthe writing...)
[14:30] Sep7imus, Sean Stewart is really responsible for SP and Melissa.
[14:30] okay... what were you writing?
[14:31] He really knows how to make characters the appeal.
[14:31] I wrote some of SP's earliest communication, but he wrote everything else, including the Widow's journey, all the shipwrecked text on the site and the clockwork rat.
[14:31] Strifey, I don't think Lil_C actually got control of the blog, did he? Just got his email address put there.
[14:31] that appeal, I mean.
[14:31] BAS: who wrote "cool out Janissary James"?
[14:32] I see. Nice job anyway, though.
[14:32] I wrote almost all of Rani, a lot of Jersey and Durga, pretty much everything Standish or Hiro said, and a lot of Kamal and Sophia.
[14:32] Ooo!
[14:32] You wrote rani?!
[14:32] (hiro rocks!)
[14:42] :P
[14:44] Ooooo.
[14:44] Sophia was born in Miami.
[14:44] o.O
[14:44] *** Aerosurge (lurker@1e706c24.3065b4fc.3f38bee0.2e1bf8a9X) has joined channel #beekeepers
[14:44] Guys, please, if it doesnt involve a question to the gracious PM who is donating her time to us, can it be taken to #ilovebees ?
[14:44] jans torture wavs ........ it almost sounded like .. well snuff or something very very evil and emotional
[14:44] hey everyone
[14:44] So often, Wil's contribution is pretty invisible, but really important.
[14:45] * strifey once again wants to remind the other members of chat to be polite and not type off-topic things to clutter the room, thanks!
[14:45] elvarien, yeah. It's was tough listen to.
[14:45] * Sep7imus repeats hsi question froma bove, about how the interaction between writing and voice acting worked. Did you guys influence each other's work?
[14:45] it turned everyone on edge though
[14:45] Sep7imus, I don't know how much the voice actors changed things, but I know they did.
[14:45] *** nawoR has changed the topic on channel #beekeepers to Welcome PM BalticAmberSmith | The Game Is Over - Thank You PMs!! | Last solve: apocalypso.html| eMail Dana for DVDs | contactme 45/45 wavs | Off-topic questions/banter/etc in #ilovebees to keep this from being +m
[14:45] BAS: what was the original story arc for the SP?
[14:45] How much planning for characters goes into something like this, Amber? I would imagine for the 'interactive' characters there had to be some flexibility.
[14:46] BalticAmberSmith: Were really big celebrity voices over the budget or you just wanted it to be more realistic by us not really knowing who it is?
[14:46] I never met any of the voice actors, though, and didn't much hear wavs until about the time you did. Sean did the voice directing.
[14:46] was there anything in the story that had to be changed last minute?
[14:46] Yeah, I have to say that I dont know when I'll be able to listen to that part again. Was there any kind of grand archetype that this audio story was intended to follow, sort of a "Epic in the tradition of ___" that we could serve to draw from for deeper appreciation?
[14:46] Gah.
[14:46] Get Sean in hereee.
[14:46] I see, thanks for answering BAS.
[14:46] DM writing isn't planned out really. We had a template for the episodes, but we threw a lot of it out as we went along.
[14:47] then I aplaud to the mad improv skils shown
[14:47] BalticAmberSmith: I bet it's a relief for this all to be over... You can have a decent night's sleep now, instead of pulling all that O/T
[14:47] Skillet, the theme was the Battle of Britain.
[14:47] BalticAmberSmith: Were any of the wavs actually influenced by us? Or were they all basically pre-planned?
[14:47] Mm. Thanks.
[14:47] sorry if this was asked before (if so just say so I'll scroll back) but how much interaction did Bungie have in the writing?
[14:47] Anaerin, my part has been pretty much over for about three weeks, but the rest of the guys. Particularly the tech guy, Jim. I call him Magic Man.
[14:47] wow, that's really intense, Amber.
[14:48] Lots of 24 hour Tuesdays for him.
[14:48] Ouch!
[14:48] Geeez
[14:48] Sean's probably asleep - it's still super early out east.
[14:48] Has he already caught the first plane to the caribbean?
[14:48] Bungie had to approve every script, Hedge.
[14:48] BalticAmberSmith: I bet. I saw quite a few times the asp.net went belly-up as we were hammering the cluster.
[14:48] aab he gets up early.
[14:48] ah
[14:48] It's only 9:47. ;D
[14:49] er... west :)
[14:49] BalticAmberSmith: I take it you're "Allowed" to talk to us about the game now? Sean won't go ballistic, will he? ;)
[14:49] BalticAmberSmith: Where is Sean? East or West coast?
[14:49] I think he was at the SF meet Crispy
[14:49] Crispy, you sound like you want to ask him on a date.
[14:49] I hope not. But the credits are out, so anyone who wanted to find me could. My email's on my website.
[14:49] a/s/l
[14:49] SkilletAudio|Splotch: I have questions.
[14:50] west, crispy
[14:50] lol
[14:50] BalticAmberSmith: Ahh, ok.
[14:50] Congrats to the PM that had the baby last night :) Even though theres no way he's here
[14:50] He had a baby?
[14:50] I would hope he didnt have the baby
[14:50] A PM had a baby?
[14:50] o.O a baby
[14:50] A PM's wife did apparently
[14:50] I don't suppose they called the baby Janissary ;)
[14:50] Haha, ouch.
[14:50] baby?
[14:50] (named Janissary?)
[14:51] lil princess or prince ?
[14:51] The ILB Baby, lol
[14:51] BalticAmberSmith: How hard was it to not get involved with the players? And did any of the PM's try and nudge us in the right direction?
[14:51] s'oih!
[14:51] i know this has probably been said already, but i wanted to extend my thanks to all of the PMs Amber. You all did a wonderful job, and as a small part of the community i wanted to extend my thanks.
[14:51] Anaerin, it was excrutiating, but no, we never nudged.
[14:51] Except for Prepositions?
[14:51] Aerosurge, the thanks goes to you guys. You made it happen.
[14:51] BalticAmberSmith: I know you guys wan't to rush the room yelling "IT'S A_PAWN. A_PAWN, DAMNIT!"
[14:51] What was the best/worst surpise that came along during the course of the game, at least as far as your experience took you?
[14:51] wanted*
[14:51] BalticAmberSmith: Even when we were over/under/around/besides ourselves.
[14:51] Gab, we just gave a second clue. That's not a nudge.
[14:52] Is the person that wrote Prepositions afraid to come in here? ;-)
[14:52] ONI|CdrGabriel: That was an "In-Game" nudge. :)
[14:52] Crispy . i bet it pissed someone off when i said "Upon"
[14:52] lol
[14:52] like a week ebfore it actually got solved
[14:52] lol
[14:52] Yeah, my bad, I just realised.
[14:52] Dewback: Perhaps.
[14:52] Crispy, I wanted to rush in the room and say, it's not your fault, just use 'a_pawn'.
[14:52] and they were like "come on!"
[14:52] Haha.
[14:52] Placing bets on when we'll solve it? ;)
[14:53] BAS: Did we offically find everything there was to find?
[14:53] No, but Sean always said you would eventually, not to worry.
[14:53] strifey, far as I know you did.
[14:53] Was it hard to see us "blame" weephun or Chappy for what happened to the Princess?
[14:53] Cortana, it was like watching a story unfold. One we really didn't expect.
[14:53] Cortana: She said that even they were surprised at what Weephun did.
[14:53] :D
[14:53] BAS: what was the original story arc for the SP?
[14:53] or do you know
[14:54] The players are as unpredictable as the organisers, it seems
[14:54] Originally, we expected that the queen would eventually capture her, but that was supposed to happen later than it did.
[14:54] hmm a question about where ilb left erm most of the people are in a somewhat good place when the covvies arrive but ... durga tries to sooth jersey to take a nap remain calm etc etc .. did she .. give up on protecting him there ? as in give him a peacefull ending or is it something else ?
[14:54] so the baloons puzzle was created for that?
[14:54] BalticAmberSmith: So the "Unlocking" puzzle was invented, or was it brought forward?
[14:55] yeah, the balloon puzzle was created in the twenty-four hours before you guys solved it.
[14:55] Were there situations that needed to be accounted for depending on players' actions that never actually needed to be used, or was it all just a matter of timing?
[14:55] Thursday nights tended to be hard.
[14:55] BalticAmberSmith: Do you know what the last puzzle on the DVD is?
[14:55] Elvarien, I don't know, honestly.
[14:55] aww ... ok
[14:55] Crispy, we already solved it, heh
[14:56] Crispy, I haven't seen the dvd yet. I'm waiting for my copy in the mail. :)
[14:56] DM: Oh... What was it? :\
[14:56] BalticAmberSmith: How frustrating was it when the two recepie 3 wavs wouldn't light? I know the UK Axon team worked their arses off to try and activate "the_labyrinth"...
[14:56] (Link: www.ilovebees.com/apocalypso.html)www.ilovebees.com/apocalypso.html
[14:56] Ok.
[14:56] Yep. :D
[14:56] BAS: Was this your first ARG? How did you get involved in it?
[14:56] It was sooo frustrating, because I wrote those and they had stuff in them I wanted you to know. And I so wanted the Brits to have an axon...
Sorry, my logging died right about the end of this chat transcript, but there was probably no more than 2-3 minutes before Alex said goodbye. But here's the (completely unfiltered) mini-chat transcript with PM "irvine" from around 5:30pm today.

[5:27:30pm] * irvine has joined #beekeepers
[5:27:39pm] 2 people on x-box live, and 2 people per x-box on LAN
[5:27:40pm] yeah, nyc had 4 up front doing 1on1 and 1 at the top.
[5:27:44pm] in NYC, one xbox for live, and four Xboxes NOT on Lan (so it was 1v1 on each...)
[5:27:51pm] gah
[5:27:57pm] anyway.
[5:28:16pm] but then a TV broke
[5:28:19pm] :-(
[5:28:24pm] * darkphan has joined #beekeepers
[5:28:30pm] * ZaZen has joined #beekeepers
[5:28:34pm] so we had 4 people on 1 x-box and 2 each on the other 2
[5:28:34pm] Halo 2 is just so great, the TV couldn't take it, eh?
[5:28:51pm] the halo busted out of it.
[5:28:53pm] haha
[5:28:56pm] I don't know what happened
[5:29:01pm] they lost a tv I guess
[5:29:04pm] I'll come back here and post a link to my pictures later.
[5:29:08pm] because they said they couldn't use it anymore
[5:39:48pm] I just want to know if the voice actor for Jan is hot
[5:39:55pm] Combining my favorite game into a world of mystery and constant learning...it's brilliant.
[5:39:56pm] but I got into the back story via the novels
[5:40:05pm] kleinlowe: no idea. I got into the Beast because I knew Sean, and then when ILB came up, there were only so many people who had done it before
[5:57:34pm] I'm gonna be waiting for that date.
[5:57:35pm] nice touch
[5:57:45pm] * Ikkarus has quit IRC (Quit: no fate but what we make (EOF))
[5:57:55pm] hehe
[5:57:59pm] I didn't think ILB would be possible to close with the satisfaction it was.
[5:58:14pm] Rofl.
[5:58:18pm] Irvine, were you Puppetmaster 2 from the article on Wired.com?
[5:58:18pm] sounds like a plan!
[5:58:23pm] You get unfrozen and there are Sirens blaring and you're like "Wtf?"
[5:58:26pm] ***only to wake up and be really confused***
[5:58:37pm] I will be back later, thanks again irvine:)
[5:58:39pm] Closure is hard; that's why soap operas are popular and cheap. But you PMs did it well, so a major kudos to you.
[5:58:42pm] Unfreeze, siren, plasma shot to building.
[5:58:44pm] Col: no, I've been completely in the bg until now
[5:58:50pm] So irvine, did you just write your parts of the dialog and then finish? Or did you watch us here and in the forums to see what we'd do?
[5:58:52pm] endings are indeed a bitch
[5:58:57pm] ahh cool cool
[5:59:11pm] hwo long was this in the making?
[5:59:14pm] *how
[5:59:22pm] Were PMs watching the Unfiction.com boards, too?
[5:59:23pm] * Siege88|Work has joined #beekeepers
[5:59:24pm] all will be revealed
[5:59:32pm] O_O
[5:59:34pm] Story-related question: What do you think happened to Jersey and Kamal? Is that open-ended, or did you guys have a definite idea?
[5:59:36pm] they always watch the boards
[5:59:37pm] Yay!
[5:59:49pm] When?!
[5:59:50pm] well. progress. :P
[5:59:53pm] Tux: dunno
[6:00:01pm] .. yeah, are there any DVDs left? ;)
[6:00:09pm] I'm curious as to who came up with the idea of doing an ARG for Halo 2 in the first place. Microsoft? Bungie?
[6:00:13pm] Crispy: dunno. I was just talking about background game-planning
[6:00:15pm] can i get one sent to australia?
[6:00:18pm] irvine: Ahhh.
[6:00:47pm] since the Hive is spawn of Microsoft, the relationship was already there
[6:00:53pm] Nobody has received any confirms from Dana, as far as I know, so it might be a bit premature.
[6:01:09pm] All that mountain-o'-crap would probably have to be sorted first.
[6:05:43pm] Yay!
[6:05:45pm] irvine: Are you going to get into halo 2 in the wake of all of this stuff? Are we going to see you online in xbox live?
[6:05:57pm] I'd have to buy an Xbox
[6:06:00pm] my wife would kill me
[6:07:48pm] Flea++ is just corrupt SPDR ;)
[6:08:03pm] Irvine: Did the writers of Ilovebees correlate with the writers of Halo 2 so that the storyline would flow correctly when one picks up Halo 2 from the stores and starts playing the game?
Ah! i am so excited!, so.. all you lucky san francisco attendees are getting to meet the VA who played melissa and the sleeping princess and everything else. Well thanks to mad cow, he was able to convince her to call me from his cellphone, so she talked to me!, she recognized me from chat, saying she had stayed in #beekeepers and recognized me. I told her she did an amzing job and she even switched characters for me from my mad cow's cell so it ws definetly not much filters, real talent there. so after a minute conversation i got put on the phone back with the cow and i asked him one last question "Was she hot?" and he said "yeah... pretty dang hot" not the girl from the killer images though, at least that is what cow said. anyways, i am really excited... i will edit if there is anything else i remember!!!
Troy McClure
EDIT: after some clarifaction of the characters, i talked to kirsten over the phone, so not jane, alrighty, bit confused i was on that, pretty excited to know all this. hi kirsten!

EDIT 2: After some questions about the final solve, i called mad cow who is chilling with the pm;s in san fran eating dinner and got to talk with kristen, sean, and the lead creator of the game who confirmed we found the final solve, i congratulated them all on the awesome game, (i can;t remember the lead creators name.. dumb cell is scratchy) but yes... they are all so physched, so one last rant
AWESOME GAME, thanks for the time!!!
i wish i had some amazing last words for such an awesome game, but please people leave your congrats to the team here!
Email from Dana 11/2

This will be going up in more detail in the Swag Lottery thread, but...

I emailed Dana to try to find out if there would be souvenir-type items or t-shirts available at the event, or if the DVDs were it.

I received this in response.

Hi Phaedra!
Wow, you guys are so organized and take such good care of each other.
That's amazing and Very Cool.
I don't have total information about what's going to happen on
Thursday (and I am excited! and nervous! and curious! ... just like
you guys). Melissa hasn't mentioned to me anything other than the
communications logs, if that helps you figure out how to organize
things with crew members who can't train with us.
Good luck.
xo
-d.

So, my SPEC would be that the event is being handled by Bungie or Microsoft, and they haven't given the PMs all the details on merchandise or freebies.

Either that, or they're just enjoying being mysterious. I hope it's the former, because it makes my job more difficult. :(

Chicago Beekeepers

It's looking more and more like this is going to be a major event, and I'm very excited. I think it would be an excellent idea to meet up somewhere in Schaumburg before 8 o'clock and get together. Make sure everybody knows each other and whatnot. Obviously, we all are going to be heading to the same location, so if there are any restaurants, I suggest you Chicagoans pick one to meet at for dinner.
If you live in the area or are planning to show, leave some feedback.
