[META] Orange County, CA: OC ARG!

Well... This thread is here still from when we were trying to get "Troy" and has just been taking up space doing nothing. So I've re-appropriated it, figuring we could stop cluttering up the LA thread. :D

Robynn has made a wonderful page with info about axons behind the Orange Curtain.

We are not the boss of you, so if you can on any day you'd like. But if OC axons have not gone hot by Friday, we'll use this thread to let you know what's going on in an effort to coordinate our... efforts for a Saturday of driving around answering phones. :D

So scroll on over to the end of this thread for late breaking news. :D

Troy did not go hot today...

There are three locations within some 500 feet or so of each other that have phones, that work, take incoming calls, and actually ring. One of which we've ruled out today I think...

Let's be organised about this.

If you're planning on trying the Troy Axon on Sunday, reply here.

I suggest we all meet for lunch at noon at:

Po Folks Restaurant
7701 Beach Blvd
Buena Park, CA
Map

This place in right by Movieland Wax Museum, and one of the working pay phones is right in front of the place. (Or just come by and have a soda or a water if you don't want lunch. With a name like "Po Folks" how expensive can it be?)

Then we can see how many people we have and get all possible phones covered in plenty of time.

((If the Mods could move this to Axon Coordination that would be nice, if not, I understand. :D ))

[META] DC Axon Hunter Signal Corps Meet Here!

Coordinate here. Post any news in the main threads.

First, we need confirmed locations for the phones we got last time from EVERYONE. Hopefully instead of random congregating we can organize how to hit those again. I don't know about you, but I can't keep taking off at random hours to hit these things. We need a plan. But first we need to know where these phones are.

Can someone volunteer to pull together the list from our information and put it somewhere we can all consult it? (OK, see below - my first attempt, based largely on hearsay)

I suggest that we NOT exert ourselves to hit any new axons unless they are VERY CONVENIENT TO GET TO AND EASY TO FIND. For example I have no desire to try every pay phone in Union Station (that's nuts), but I probably can do the new one at Connecticut and K.

BTW I feel under no pressure. If we can get a few during the week and then the rest in a mad dash on the weekend, that works for me. If Melissa doesn't get all her axons will that's just tough.

The two Dale City axons I could not find are on the list again. I will NOT be going back out there, but if anyone else wants to try, I will be happy to discuss what I have already tried.

Chappy, INCyr, Kaziel, Oliver, Cortana, Harsh - are you in? Who else?

edit - added my chart of the DC area locations, annotated for what was found (and where, if I know) and who found them (I think) - please send me corrections, I will annotate!

edit - I will update the chart daily; keep checking this post for it. I will substitute the new for the old.

[META] Vegas: Flying Elvis Enhottenators, Baby

OK, here's a thread, since we haven't really been posting publicly.

Some info about the Vegas location. The phones at the Bellagio (up the escalator to the right) were monitored yesterday with no rings. I tested them anyway, and incoming calls are routed to the Bellagio front desk.

As for the other three corners:

No phones were found on the Caesar's Palace corner.
No phones were found on the Balley's corner.

This leaves Barbary Coast, which seems most likely, as it has two banks of payphones inside the casino. These phones have an issue with incoming calls, however. The phone will ring, but when you pick up, it's dead. They may connect if you put 50 cents in, but I didn't try it.

There may be more phones around, but I sure as heck couldn't find any. If someone in town has a GPS, that might be real helpful.

I can't make the axons tonight, as I have a gig, but I'll give it another shot tomorrow. A good Beekeeper meeting spot would be the corner just in front of the Barbary Coast. There's a bottled water stand there.

And don't forget. If you fail, you've always got the free Big Elvis show.

Alright everyone headed to Illinois! Lets organize! My problems, and surely some of yours, are the following:

1. Dont want to drive down there alone (im 4 hours away in Grand Rapids, MI)

2. Dont want to arrive early with nothing to do (ill leave early just in case of traffic)

3. Nothing to do when the event is done (im driving 4 hours there, for 3 hours of whatever, and 4 hours back... 8 hours of driving for 3 hours of whatever? id rather hang out down there for a while)

4. No where to stay afterwards (in case im tired as hell from whatever we do)

Anyone with similiar problems.... well, post, i guess, but lets get some solutions!

[META] Portland Area Axon Hunters Meet Here

A thread for coordination of your axon work.

Coordinate here. Post any news in the main threads.

Your first job - compile your list of axons and maintain it here. Organize away!! (You can see a sample in the DC thread - I took lines from the blackforge document (cut and pasted into an empty excel doc); added local time so I don't have to keep translating but you can delete that column; added columns at end for when they go hot and the last identifies whether they are new (mapquest location info), found before (specific location details), or old and not found before (we have 3 of those).)
