For those who want to learn web skills...

While reading the PM recruitment area, I saw that someone had mentioned that they wish they had web skills. I know there are probably a million places on the web with some good tutorials, but one of my faves used to be http://hotwired.lycos.com/webmonkey/ . They have some good tutorials that are pretty easy to follow and some cheatsheets, like web color codes, that I still use. They don't have anything too fancy, which is just perfect for a beginner. And if you're a beginner they have a nice starting point here .

conducttr

Has anyone used conducttr? I know it's out of beta now. I recently signed up and the documentation seems a little scattered, but thorough, and the learning curve seems a bit steep. Could be a great way to automate a lot of interactions, though.

JustLeak.it

I don't know if this site is actually new, per se, but it's new to me:

http://justleak.it/index

Leak allows users to send anonymous emails to any address. Seems like a good tool for puppet masters looking to get games off the ground. Want to spark a potential-player's interest? Send them a cryptic, anonymous clue that leads them to the next piece of the puzzle!

Hey guys,

I just started to become involved in these ARGs and it seems you need to have alot of coding software and video/image/mp3 softwares, or whatever they are....what do you think is some necessary software or stuff that i can download off of the internet to help solve these ARGs?

Thanks a bunch! Can't wait to get started helping, hopefully

RSS Feed

I have a phpbb3 forum (just like this one) and am wanting to create a RSS Feed so that I can post the newest replies and posts on another website.

(Kind of like what unfiction.com has in their side menu)

Does anyone know how to do this?

(Yes, I've looked up how to do it on other sites, but I'm so confuzzled by everything. It's all Greek to me. I'm still learning all this php crap.)

New awesome organizational tool for PMs AND players.

Well, as some of you know, I'm an author. I was lurking around the netz' a few days ago, and came across a great program for keeping track of characters, plotlines, locations, and other general information. I immediately thought of ways that puppetmasters and players can use it for ARG purposes.
Best of all, it's free, open-source, and small.

Unfortunately, it only runs on Windows or Linux based Operating Systems, but here's the link for anyone who wants it.
Random Name Generator

Hey

Found this while I was perusing the net...

Random Name Generator

http://www.kleimo.com/random/name.cfm

Apparently uses info from the US census to generate male and female names (first and last) of varifying "obscurity"

Would be a good PM tool

Number Combinations

Hello! I'm looking for a calculator or tool that would help rearrange numbers easily. I had 10 numbers come to me in a dream, and I think they might be a phone number if I arrange them in the right way. I need something that I can type my numbers in and then the tool would list all possible combinations.

MP3 voicemail recording

Hi guys.

I've been looking into visual voicemail for android in the UK and came accross Hullomail. The free service records your voicemail and thn makes it available through an app, your email account, phone in etc. The best part about it is that it also allows MP3 downloads of the voicemails making it perfect for ARG's. The service is fully up and running in the UK but only currently supports Android on the stand alone app front in the US.

I'm sure there are other tools. out there which help you record voicemail but I thought I'd add this one to he mix.

Cheers
I know I can type something into Google and get image results back. But what if I already have an image and want to find out what the heck it is? Is there any way to do that kind of a search?

Firefox extension - Ubiquity

I just ran across this Firefox extension on the Red Ferret page and thought I'd pass it along. It makes a lot of the stuff we use, wiki, maps, twitter, translate, etc., very accessible. And it's extensible. Review here . Caution: Be sure you trust sources for any extensions you add, since this can basically do anything a browser can and then some... (They do run caution screens, but be aware anyway...) I will also add that this is currently in Alpha release, so expect some bugs...

Collaboration+Wiki software, any recs?

What would be the best open source online collaboration software that includes a wiki component? I'm particularly interested in online collaboration that includes synchronous communication, at least chat if not webcam conferencing. Standard collaboration features such as calendar need to be included. What about Vyew? It looks pretty good.
