Today I did my annual relisten-to-lb-dvd-while-snowed-in event. I think everyone should pick a time to relisten to these dvds. Even after 6 (!) years, that DVD brings back strong feelings, plus it feels warm and fuzzy, which is odd because it ends with the Covenant invading.

I loved playing i love bees. Once again, I want to thank the PMs, the players, Space and the site admins and the moderators for making that game such an amazing once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Pull out your dvd and give it a listen, you will be glad you did.

Alright beekeepers, I'd like to start a little discussion. I suppose this could be considered trout, but hopefully since the game is long since over, the offense won't be considered that bad. I searched for terms regarding this topic, but there were about 250 returns and frankly I don't wish to wade through all of them. So here goes:

If you have not experienced the wonderment that is ilovebees and you someday might perchance to do so - TURN BACK!!! SPOILERS AHEAD!!!

So I was talking to a beekeeper about Halo and we started talking about AIs and Rampancy. I mentioned something about Durga going rampant and she said something about how she wouldn't be going rampant. I think my reply was "Wha-huh?" To which she replied with something to the effect of that since Durga found out the truth about Yasmine and was integrated with her to form the entire Melissa, she was stable - that is, she'd never go rampant.

I had never got this out of the story and at the time I just figured it was just something I missed. But the wheels of my mind started turning over the last couple days and I remembered some dialogue from the one of the closing segments:

Exceprt From: JERSEY - Just a Little Sting
Durga: Jersey! Not yet...please, just a few more weeks? I don't even know how much time I have before--
Jersey: Surpressing a draft notice? Does that mean you're going rampant?
D (over him): It doesn't mean I'm going rampant!
J: What does it mean then?
D: It means I care. It means...I take care of my crew.

*wipes tears from eyes

So anyway, it's that phrase in the first line that makes me wonder. She says she doesn't know how much time she has before... I assume she meant before she went rampant. So what do you think? Do you think Durga would still go rampant? Do you think she was stable and just wasn't cognizant of it? Was she talking about something else? Let's hear some opinions!

PS: Regarding my own cred, for those of you who do not know, I refer to myself as a beelated beekeeper. A wannabee, if you will. I had my cranium too far up an orafice to realize the what I could have experienced while ilovebees was playing out and now I am perpetually kicking myself in the shins for it. But I have listened to the entire story (several, several times) and caught up on as much as I could of the archives. It'll never come close to experiencing it first hand, but I've probably come about as close as a beelated beekeeper can.

Hello? Is anybody out there? This is RandMod6. I was.. am an Ensign under a different name. Ever since the final farewell I have been in periodic contact with Melissa. I have one more beekeeper challenge and I cannot complete it alone. I have discussed the logistics of the operation with the Op and it has been given full approval. We bitched and whined on H2 when they said we HAD to have a time travel component.

Interesting that Bungie actually required this of 42. There was some limited time travel introduced into the Halo story in the 3rd book of the series, and now this. Suppose Bungie is trying to prep those seriously following the Halo story for some more serious time travel implications?

When I was a young whelp, I would pass a payphone on the way to school. Sometimes, this payphone happened to ring, and, given an excuse to delay my education, I would always answer it. The conversations were confusing, strange, lewd, banal, wonderful.

Years later, a friend and I drove to a phone booth in the middle of the desert that he had been calling for weeks, listening to it ring. I didn't get it. Eventually, it sank in, and I visited the booth a few more times during its rise to world-wide superstardom before the NPS ripped it out and destroyed it.

"So," I thought, years ago, how about something like a "phone booth of the day/week" website; the number changes every so often, people call it, people hang out at the phone itself and take calls, people submit numbers and photos, etc. Of course, someone else had already done that awhile ago. But he gave it up, and wished me luck. Then a few more years passed while I sorted my Hummel collection (by weight, and then by number of dead children depicted). So now, finally, let's see what kind of trouble we can get into here.

Hee, I called the Mojave Phone Booth, back in the day. I was caller #137 or something. I can't remember.
