[INFO] Can anyone provide a summary?

Reading through the topics, I think this ARG seemed really interesting and unique. Unfortunately, I obviously never actually followed or participated in it but I can't seem to find any summaries or anything through the topics I've seen. So, I was wondering if one exists or if someone could make one up for me?

So I made an estimation of 100 people, and if I got at least that, I'd be estatic. And, as we saw, we hit over 100.

how far into the game did you realize you had 2 separate boards playing and did it make things difficult to keep track of.
I realized you guys jumped in when I noticed it on the RG Alliance website, and I don't think it made anything any harder.
In fact, it gave me the idea for the time key puzzle.

The "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" song split in half.
Which was, as you guys guess it, a small message to ARGN that I was going to carry this all the way through.
I am sure we will see stuff like that from others
And it was nothing to "Warn players" about that it might fall apart, because I was not going to let it fall apart.

So, yeah, the Misunderstood file was a double puzzle. Both meta and in-game, and planned as that.
I was just wondering how long it would take you guys to figure out there was half a key in each file.
Or the fact that the other people had the same song, only the second half.

Would you recommend doing an entire ARG by yourself to someone who wants to be a PM?
If you have the time, hell yeah.
For one, you don't have to describe your ideas to anyone else and have the chance of someone else screwing it up.
Two, you can be as secretive as you want and not worry about someone else opening their mouth, unless you're stupid like me and leave your former writings online.

The downfalls to it are that you're all by yourself. And you have to do all the work.
Heh, not a problem. I should kick myself.
PMing an ARG by yourself is fun though. If you really have the time and want to put forth alot of effort, it's rewarding, just really hard.
But I felt like I made a personal connection between you all, even though you (for the most part) didn't know who I was until the end.
And if I had a team of PMs, I don't know if I would know you all as well as I do.

Some of that was written a long time ago, and some of my universe has changed.
PG is the up-to-date version of my vision.
So if you read something there that conflicts with PG, then assume PG is right.
[Stormalong] When did you get the idea to make it into an ARG?
The night before the Binary Grid was posted.
Because I always wanted to turn this into a video game of some sort.
But becuase I don't have a developing studio in my dorm, I never could.
But an ARG can be done by one person, and it can be done with everday tools.
And I knew the concepts presented in the overall story would work with an ARG. Conspiracy was present, a complex history was present.
Players could be thrown right in without knowing a single thing.
However, putting you into a superhero world did produce difficulties.

I realized that at first you couldn't talk to S32 directly. You could ask them to do things or tell them to do something, and they could without much effort.
Plus, if you talked to them directly, they could just reasonably fill you in to the whole story.
you made it past that problem really well.
So, I had to imprison them, and in that moment Project Gateway into Nightmares was born.
And I took one of my "characters-in-training", Stephen Roberts, and threw him in.
And to ice the cake, I didn't want you guys to initially know you were talking to superheroes.
So you had questions.
And the inital plot line was concieved in about 10 minutes.
But that was only because I knew the world so damn well, the characters so damn well, and had been perfecting this world for 6 years.
Does that also include then the idea of the keys?
Keys were initally not part of the concept, ironically.
The whole original plot line was to just throw one switch, or make it through one back door, and that would be it.
But then I thought about using keys to unlock the cells. It would give you something to look out for, and prove that you successfully followed a branch of the story.
It was sort of the symbol to say "Ok, you've completed another level of the game"
Plus, it looked cool to open up a file and find this weird ascii key drawn in.
I thought it worked really well.

[Stormalong] Listing the person who submitted the key was a nice touch. ARGs are traditionally a group effort, but letting a player leave an individual mark on the game is cool.
Yeah. I really liked that.
Section 32 was always about style.
Yes, I liked the way that the game gave individual recognition a lot.
I even put in the line "Style is Everything." Which is the catchphrase for the whole universe.
Plus, if you guys noticed, the characters act the same way the game recognized you.
You guys work as a team, but you were noticed individually and you had your individual qualities.
Section 32 acts as a team to accomplish goals, but each of them has their unique powerset that relates to a single element.
I hadn't thought of it like that. We all have our own superpowers, GateCrashers! ;)

Initially, I liked how you guys were going against one another, but then I realized in the grand scheme of things it was stupid.
So then I had that key broken up and sent to both of you, to force you to work together.
Because I think the separation between UF and IU is kinda unnecessary, but that's this man's opinon, and I do understand why you are both separated now.

Hosting.
Freewebs is actually an upgraded account, so I had more bandwidth.
And thank god, because I had about 500 mb left by the end of the first month on 32nd Notes.
And I started with alot of gigs.

Infocyclone, as you guessed, is also what I paid for. That's hosted by Fortune City.

I really loved the Henry Shaw introduction.

PG was actually turned off so I could introduce Henry Shaw.
Because a couple days before, I got FrontPage from the university, and whipped up InfoCyclone.
Before that, PG was done on Dreamweaver.
lol, yeah thats the first thing a few of us noticed was frontpage.
So, I needed a way for our little reporter conspiracy addict to enter.

And I cooked up the interview scheme and sent out a thing to ARGN to see if they could get a few of you together so I could interview you.
And they never replied...
So I ran over and pointed a gun at Nash's head and told him he was hosting an interview.

So the interview scheme was originally handed to ARGN, but ended up being given to IU.
Which was more appropriate anyway.

That was going to be a large puzzle... but I never got around to it.
I was going to have your answers down, and you had to find yours and there would have been a number, and it would have corresponded to a letter in your name.
So if PG recognized you as estern (sorry Storm) and I needed the letter T, then you answer would have the number 3 next to it.
Sorta like the List of Involvement - Theme Song puzzle.

5. Kick Rowen's rear from here to kingdom come mini-game.
And that would be it.
Plus alot of other stuff that I really can't describe too well in a chat.

What was the most frustrating moment of the game for you? Were you sitting shouting at us through the screen at any point?
If I knew how to mod things, oh would I ever.

The Apocalypse code was intense for me.
I would have liked to have my characters live.
So I was going, "IT'S IN THE DARKNESS KEY!!! THE DARKNESS KEY!!!!"
Because if you didn't get it, they were going to die.
And Line of Destruction would be history.

Well, Project Gateway concluded on Saturday night with a bang. Or rather, without a bang, fortunetly for the world. :)

I monitored Shadown's access and have cut it along with Rowen's again. They signed up as users and submitted the last key... but NOTHING'S UNLOCKED!!!

Guard says that we overlooked 1 door in the program, the coveted back door. It's the last door we have to unlock before Robert's emergency release takes effect!

It's been a long and strange journey.

Hey everyone, hey Gatecrashers.

Well, Strike dropped us off in front of our house in the SJet, and wow, there's a nice ride. Lol. If I can laugh about it all, it was that last jet ride.

Most of what I did my mom says I can't tell everyone, so I won't. But thank you to the brave souls who helped save my life. You know who you are.

And it seems my family life is going to pick up now that my mom and Brendan bonded during our time... um... unable to move. Lol. Really can't say where we were.

So, maybe my life is beginning to get back on track. I don't think I'm going to be uploading music anytime soon. Maybe in the future though. ;-)

Hey, it's the owner of InfoCyclone, Henry. I just want everyone to know what's been going down with my website since the middle of the month. Apparently a self-aware program known as Project Gateway infiltrated my site and assimilated my data into it's infastructure and then proceeded to act as my webpage. I was altered to this by a group of Alternate Reality Game players called "Gatecrashers" after I published my article on Alternate Reality Gaming, ironically.

Everyone thought Project Gateway was a game... well.. it wasn't. I was dropped into a full blown conspiracy, and my life was put on the line. Now I know what it's like to be in the center of something you know you can't handle. I won't kid you when I say I was scared. I was scared. My brother even published propaganda, to the dismay of our enemies, and alerted our small town to what was really going on, and who the true heroes of the town are.

Afterwards my house was destroyed, and my family, myself, and my brother were kidnapped by the town "superheroes" Section White. We were given over to another group of villains called the Wild Card Gang and were used as pawns against the Gatecrashers who were desperately trying to save the real superheroes, Section 32, and from using their powers to power a cannon called the Nightmare Cannon which would put the world in an eternal shroud of darkness and chaos.

It was through these Gatecrashers that the Project Gateway program was stopped and Section 32 released. I owe my life to Section 32 and the Gatecrashers... as the leader of the Wild Card Gang, Wild Deuce, almost removed my head with an axe. If it wasn't for them, my brother and I would be dead.

And as for me, I've had enough of my share of conspiracy. I finally got in contact with my webmaster, Colin Brennan, (he was busy with tests in college) and he and I agreed that maybe we should end Infocyclone.

Due to circumstances in my life (college, mostly) I can't commit any regular time to Project Gateway anymore. :cry: Some of tyou may have noticed I haven't posted much, if at all, in the last week or so. Since I was the original updater for the "timeline" section of the wiki, I'd just like to say that I won't be doing that anymore and somebody else should assume the job of keeping the timeline up-to-date (if somebody else hasn't already been doing it).

Anyway, just letting you all know--I may drop in from time to time but I can't do any serious hunting.
