[Puzzle] 3. Dark Blue Face - Piano Keys

Well, here's at least a partial solve for the dark blue puzzle:

Move all the pieces to the top of the screen in piano formation. The order the pieces have to be in is

5 7 1 4 9 12 11 3 6 10 8 2

You'll get a creepy voice and then all the pieces will move down and lock into place, leaving their outline above.

[Puzzle] 4. Yellow Face - Calculator

Looks like a calculator.
Input a number.

x x x x x - x x x - x x x x - x x x x x x

green - red - blue - yellow (???? just a reminder of ascension path from last night replaying in my head). But I wouldn't know how to translate that into numbers.

[ETA: 22222-111-3333-444444 did not work (the color's number)]

I suspect this one will need some of the "unique clues" one gets after buying a VQC T-shirt (but I already have one from the first open game).

[SPEC] Being mislead?

I'm beginning to wonder if we're being misled.

Why would they ask us for all that information and then give us a puzzle that, by most attempts, has been decipherable?

Second, why does the description for virtucube contain letters that spell out "there is nothing here"?

Just a couple of unanswered questions that seem to point towards us being misled... I could be wrong.

Winning for Unfiction? Private group incoming.

Hey everyone,

I've had my eyes opened a bit as to the open posting of our future solves and current progress. I figured we would be okay to work on a bit of an open honor system, but I'm beginning to doubt it.

I am starting a privatized Yahoo discussion group for sharing and progress on this puzzle, just to minimize the chances of idle coasters waiting until the hard work is done and snatching up the final solve with less than good intentions.

Make no mistake, the express purpose of my group is to solve this puzzle, and donate the winnings to Unfiction. Now that several people have shared thoughts and mental work with this goal in mind, I feel it only right to codify this goal, and gather ourselves elsewhere.

If you would like to join in on my efforts, PM me with your email address and we'll get going.

I may edit out the data I have thus far accumulated from this forum...but I may decide that could be a bit too......rude. But I will only be posting further observations in the yahoo group.

Oh, and might I ask, for anyone who doesnt want to come along, and would like to continue posting on the open forum: Do you feel it a necessary part of starting a privatized group, that I keep myself and my group members from reading your open forum, in the interest of fairness? Or is all fair in love and war if it is posted publicly? I'd like your honest opinions.

If anyone has a case for this being unfair, I'd like to hear why. I dont want to be an ass with my good intentions. But I would also like to keep our good intentions from impeding our goal.

Come on and join in, bring an ILB buddy who's aching for puzzles. Lets show our appreciation for SpaceBass by winning something for the team. PM me with your email!

Embarassing Virtucube Ranting

...frustrated...

I get incredibly frustrated when people create tenuous convoluted plots and theories in ARGS/puzzles... and then, even with no proof or actual connection to the 'reality', they convince themselves that their theory must be right and base every future argument on that false cornerstone.

In virtucube, for example, lines like:

"I'm growing increasingly more confident that the cycles of the moon are intrinsic here."

or

"It's relative to the lunar cycle, it has to be."

just drive me up the wall. To be confident, you need proof.

It's one thing to postulate a theory. It's even acceptable to follow up on it, test it, try to determine it's validity. But it's another thing to take the theory as canon and try to convince others of its 'truth'.
Not trying to sound harsh here, I just believe that a little bit of logical thought would nicely eliminate 90% of the fluff posts regarding ARGS.

ilovebees is another perfect example. I followed that ARG at the beginning. I stopped very quickly. Why? Not because the ARG was lacking in any way. No, it was because in order to follow anything that was going on, I had to wade through the metric tons of bullsh*t being crapped out by every basement dweller with an internet connection.

I guess at least with virtucube, I can solve it on my own and don't need any of the so-called 'community' in order to solve anything.

EDIT - Split to new topic as requested to keep thread on puzzle... on the topic of the puzzle. Crazy idea. -SG

[Virtuquest] VirtuCube

After the SEN5241 game finished, I fired off an email to virtuquest to see if they'd be willing to do a post-game PM chat. A couple days later I got the following response.

From: contact@virtuquest.com
Subject: Thank You

Dear Eric,
Thank you so much for your kind offer. As a co. often looks for such an
opportunity, it is very tempting.
While we certainly look forward to directly interacting with the ARG
comm.,there is something to be said about, . . . dare I say . . . secrecy and mystery (especially as it applies to the style, approach, history, and
plans of a co.). However, timing is everything, and possibly after Virtucube, things may fall in place for such an excursion.
Speaking of Virtucube, while we are very pleased with he warm reception
received by SEN5241, we are really looking forward to how you approach
Virtucube. For one lucky / persistent person, their trek off into our
world will be well worth it.
With that said, let us say "thank you" once again. Now please enjoy the
first clue to the Virtucube, which of course, is buried, deep . . .
within.
Best Wishes & Good Luck,
Your friends at VQC

I've spent about a week dissecting this email trying to find the clue, but I'm kinda hopeless when it comes to this stuff.

So, while I'm honored that VQ sent me the first VirtuCube clue, I'm hoping they won't be pissed that I'm posting it here for all of you to take a crack at. At this point I'm willing to give up any personal glory just to find out what the solution is. :)

I'm assuming that the clue is not a big deal, as the game hasn't even started yet (or has it?), and since the email implies that VC will be something that 1 person can win, I doubt that they'd give me some great head start.

In fact, I'll go so far as the SPEC that the clue in the email will lead us to the first VC website, which will probably just say something like "Game starts Oct 31".
