Journal Entry 12.16 of 2007 The Box is nearly complete. The Queen says it must be done by the New Year. That might be ambitious. I’m so close but there’s still so much work to be done. Morcar really took the last test hard. He said his head felt like it’d been pulled apart and stuck back together with paste… Journal Entry 12.27 of 2007 It’s done. Well…almost. I haven’t been able to test it on a living person. Morcar has disappeared and few others are willing to test my inventions these days. Still, everything appears to be functioning. If all goes according to plan, the Queen should be able to place it in front of someone, and upon contact with the screen, read thoughts, feelings and other emotions. It may only feed her paranoia but at least I can go back to working on normal things after that. Journal Entry 1.3 of 2008 The Queen came by to see the machine. Morcar was brought to the lab by a few of her guards. I can’t help but feel sorry for my poor brother. He seems very distant right now. I hope he understands…we all have our duties to the Queen… It works! Morcar made contact with the screen, it lit up as I thought it would, and moments later, we had a printout of everything Morcar was thinking right then. Well…I actually wish I hadn’t seen anything on the page. He was quite mad at me…and very afraid. Journal Entry 1.13 of 2008 Morcar is gone! And so is the machine. The Queen is going to be so angry. I have no idea what to say to her. She’ll lock me up for sure. God knows what she’ll do to Morcar if he shows his face again. The last time I spoke with him, he was smashing up the Chemistry Lab and raving about something horrible…I knew he shouldn’t be dealing with those men in the suits. They reek of trouble.
