Community
Perplex City is divided into seven police precincts, each of which enjoys a dedicated community police service. The facilities in each precinct are tailored to match the demands of the community.
Key
At the heart of the government district, the Key Square precinct arguably has the greatest responsibility of any in the city. Protecting government buildings and officials from potential attacks, protests and security breaches, Key Square has the strongest contingent of Crypto officers in the Department.
Violent crime and violations against property are negligible, largely thanks to the high-profile presence of PXCPD street patrols. These teams are supplemented by armed diplomatic protection units.
With its low percentage of residential buildings, Key Square activity is heavily biased towards the daytime, allowing officers and support staff to work with other precincts where nocturnal demand is higher.
Stratus
The Stratus district includes some of the most valuable property in Perplex City, not least Ascendancy Point. The Stratus precinct must therefore deal with the constant influx of tourists as well as the regular tide of workers into and out of the area's many office towers. The PXCPD Fraud bureau is based on Caesura Park.
Dalia Way is also a hotspot for shoplifting and minor assaults, calling for a large, visible police presence on the street throughout the day. These officers are familiar faces in the commercial community, having served for as long as 25 years in the precinct. If you are ever lost amid the glass canyons of Stratus, a friendly PXCPD officer will be a sure source of accurate directions.
Mobius
The city's playground, the Mobius Strip is a focus for entertainment and celebration - and all the crime that comes with it. The area's young demographic profile ensures a significant number of sexual and violent crimes, particularly with relation to alcohol or excessive competition in the district's many puzzle bars.
The Mobius precinct works in conjunction with bar and restaurant owners to instill a responsible attitude towards cognitive enhancement. The Ceretin Awareness Initiative recently highlighted the dangers of excessive consumption, leading to a significant drop in disruptive activity across the Mobius district.
Alchemy
Following the regeneration of the Portside and Hardcastle Docks, Alchemy Bay is fast becoming a social hub to rival the Mobius Strip. Crime in the dock area has fallen markedly over the past five years, with improvements in street lighting and a reduction in the number of vacant lots.
Alchemy Beach remains a magnet for sun worshippers and wave riders, who in turn attract key thieves and opportunists. This activity spikes during the annual Beach Carnival's Neue Surf Championships, with thousands of competitors and spectators flocking to the area and camping out on the sand. Throughout the year, the Alchemy Bay precinct works alongside the PXC Beach Patrol to ensure the safety of both citizens and their property.
Polygon
Despite its low population density, Polygon Park is a highly active area for illegal practices. At night, the paths and trails around the park become a gauntlet for unwary pedestrians seeking a shortcut to or from the Old Town. With minimal electronic surveillance, patrolling the park can be one of the most hazardous assignments in the city, and the officers of Polygon precinct are far less green than their leafy surroundings.
In the daytime, the park area still suffers from occasional problems of vagrancy, but these have largely been eliminated through the city's rehousing programme. Polygon precinct is also responsible for crowd control before and after the many events at the Hausam Amphitheatre.
Amandier
Covering the district now known as the Artists' Quarter, Amandier precinct faces all the problems associated with any low-income area. Property crime remains serious, but is on the decline following the precinct's subsidisation of home security measures. Despite this, many residents continue to take home protection to unacceptable extremes.
The AQ is home to thousands of young families, and it is pleasing to report that the creative industries are thriving - with local incomes steadily rising as a result. Film festivals and the underground music scene have migrated north from the Old Town too, raising the district's profile, but attracting an undesirable element. Nocturnal policing levels have been bolstered following the winter budget.
Old Town
Negative press coverage has exaggerated the perceived crime levels in the Old Town. The twin precincts at Coldsea and Caldera have taken a firm grip on the area, minimising homicides and keeping violent crime under control. Officer fatalities have been virtually eradicated since the introduction of adaxic body armour.
Senior officers must serve a three-year tour in the Old Town before progressing to Lieutenant level, meaning that the district has been served by some of the finest officers ever to walk our streets - including Chief Eoin Morgan. The conviction rate in the Old Town is the highest in the city, and Caldera has been awarded more Distinguished Conduct decorations than any other precinct.
