[OT] As a lurker...

I appreciate all of your hard work, uncovering the truth and providing hours of entertainment. I myself attempted to be at a couple of the very very first Axons in Ohio, but either couldn't find the right phone, or they never rang. It's been fun watching and listening to your conversations and interactions with the ARG actors and each other. It makes me sad that the end nears, but one can only hope that we'll all be able to get a DVD (like I hope to at the cleveland point tonight) and have some physical reminder of this story and it's effects on our lives.

It may have just been a marketing campaign to MS and Bungie, but to many of us, it was a story that moved us, entertained us, and encompassed our lives in a way that no book, movie, or video game could.

My only wish is that I could have made a trek to Chicago or NYC to attend a live event, but I hope to hear your stories and comments.

I'm a lurker as well, tho not by choice; due to RL circumstances, I was forced off the 'net for a couple of months. I only wish that I could have been more involved with this game.

Nonetheless, I managed to keep up with the storyline of this game, and I must say, I am more than impresed with how the PMs have executed this project. Very Happy

And, for the record...

/me :hearts: Durga. Very Happy

Thanks, and yes I got my dvd, I'm glad to have something I can listen to again in the future. Kudos to the PMs, and oh how I envy your jobs.

Now that this is over, I might as well delurk and thank everyone for their hard work. Without all the crazy beekeepers running around, I would not have been able to enjoy the incredible story. I want to specifically thank thebruce for all his hard work, as his transcriptions helped me out a great deal. So thanks again everyone and I look forward to kicking some covie ass come November 9th with Jan and the 1.1's.

I Third that motion. thank you all for the entertainment, and the thought-provoking posts.. I think all of us here who read the posts that alot of the really active beekeepers made will agree that this arg brought out alot of emotions, both good and bad. now I just gotta figure out what to do now that this is all over.

Amen. I tried to help out in #beekeepers whenever I got a chance, but beyond that I didn't have much to add here.

What I can say is that this community was integral to my interest in the game. Not only did the PM's give us a great story, but you all rocked the house with your wisdom, patience and humor.

Thank you.

As a semi-lurker I'd like to send out special thanks and a kick-in-the-shins (see below) to all the Seattle Axon hunters who made up for those of us who lived too far away or had jobs that wouldn't allow for them to go hunting around for phones every week.

I can't tell you how envious I was of everyone who got to speak to Melissa.

As to the kick in the shins... I showed up just a few minutes after 6pm at the Meridian and ALL of the DVDs were gone. Wink Boy, did I look like a goof, having travelled over Lake Washington in rush hour traffic, weaving through traffic as safely, but quickly, as I could - only to find as I ran into the theater, out of breath, a sign taped to one of the ticket registers with a picture of a bee and words that basically said "sorry, sucker."

Ah well... I'll be one of the sleepy-eyed people at the Redmond TC EB at 11:59PM on the 8th. Try to wear shin guards.

I just wanted to delurk and add my two bits.

Thank you all so much. I've been following ILB since way back in Phase 2, before anyone had even heard of an axon. I never offered assistance or theories or even Rampant speculation, though I'm sure I came close a couple times. I was content to watch you do the work, and see where the game led. I'm sure I had a good rationalization for it.

Then, last week, I finally got around to downloading all the .wav files, and listened to the audio drama over two nights. I got to know the characters, as well as any of you did. It ripped my heart out to find out their eventual fate yesterday. And, listening to Melissa's thank-you message this morning made me realize something. It sounded like she was talking to me, but I was just eavesdropping again - her heartfelt goodbye was for you, who saved her. No matter that she's really an actor, reading lines. It's your victory. I wish I'd helped. I'm sorry.

That said, I think the game did its job. I'm one of the millions who can't wait until next week to take on the role of John 117, the Master Chief. Unlike most of those people, though, I'll be fighting not to save the world, or even just to beat the game - I'll be fighting for four kids and a rogue AI. At least that's something I can do.

Heh, as a fellow lurker I have the same sentiments. I've been following this ARG since before Phase 2 and have helped out where I can in the #beekeepers IRC channel and even got to visit a San Francisco axon. I'd like to express my utter thankfulness twards the players and the PMs. Well done!

I also want to say congrats to the players and PMs. I have been following since Phase 2. You all did a great job. I wish I could have had an axon close enough to my house. My hopes shot up when they mentioned Buffalo in one of the axons, but alas that was not to be Crying or Very sad

I wish you guys luck in the next one. Hopefully I will see some of you guys on Xbox live and I can help you out in a firefight Wink

I guess it's my turn to delurk now. I've been following since August 16th, I only know that date because of Penny Arcade's news article here which mentioned some crazy "game" that was happenning in real time, and something about Halo and AI's, and bees?... Now, I don't own an Xbox, and I've never played Halo (I'm not even a huge fan of FPS) but there was something about that countdown... I watched, casualy at first, and read what was happening here, and I was being pulled in.

This was my first ARG, and it truly was an experience. Driving around looking for ringing payphones, meeting a fellow Maine beekeeper named Mornington, watching the puzzles being solved every tuesday within hours (what were the PMs thinking with those prepositions? Laughing ). I listened to the stories of Jan and Durga, I was saddened by the passing of the Princess... and yet, I wish I had been involved more, I wish I had made more of an effort to post, I guess I thought I would get in you guys' way.

Anyway, I just have to thank everyone for everything they did to help out. Answering an axon here, solving a puzzle there, getting the SP trapped in a box (weephun, I totally forgive you Very Happy ). This has been a very fun game and I'm sad to see it end, but we all need closure sometimes. Speaking of closure, this post needs closure! Thanks everyone and I'll see you at the halo3 ARG!

And a more formal delurk from me...

I've followed since the start - though I'm no longer quite able to remember exactly how I came by the rabbit hole. I think it may have been a post on a board discussing the Halo 2 theatrical trailer ("did the letters change at the end there? Something about bees?").

Been aware of this place since then, but essentially avoided it out of a peculiar desire to solve the puzzles All By Myself Smile Perhaps a symptom of the extreme spoilerphobia I contracted when I discovered various B5 usenet groups during the original run - being on the slower side of the pond, I quickly learned not to read the majority of posts until things were showing over here.

Reading over all the threads now, and looking at the community and discussions (particularly those regarding plot branches like the SP capture), I wonder if I made the right decision. Being in the UK means I'd never have become part of the crew, but in retrospect, looking at the groups that formed and discussed and argued and acted, I don't think that was really ever necessary to become a truly active participant.

Ah well, I'll know better for next time. Wink

As a side note. Here's to hope against hope that the gang from ILBs shows up in Halo 2, and if not, has a spinoff book or game, or radio drama. :werd:

I'll belatedly add my voice to these other lurkers (well, I guess technically delurkers) and say thanks to the PM's but just as much, thanks to the community here.

I've followed from near the start but wasn't able to commit enough time per week to be anywhere near the front of the unfolding drama... just enough time to catch up enough each week without my head exploding.

As has been said before, it is one of the most polite, mature, funny and thoughtful forums I've ever seen on the internet. It was a joy to observe all the way through... even if I seemed to be scrambling to understand what the heck was going on half the time ! Smile

Based on why I originally got into ILB, I'd have thought I'd be wishing everyone enjoy playing Halo 2... but in the end ILB seems to be more real and have more resonance than that. So how about an all encompassing 'all the best' ! ?!
