Feeling like funandpretty is a gamejack. There are spelling mistakes in the letter, it's ugly and hacked together quickly from a design standpoint, and domain registered today. It could absolutley be easily slapped together in an hour by someone who knows a little java/webdesign.

Also the letter has a bunch of things people have speculated about here and on reddit added in as "plot points." Seems sketchy.

If this *is* Bad Robot, it's sloppy.

Speaking as a web designer here...

The Tagruato page was only discovered a few hours ago. Even though Howard's website was registered today, someone who was trying to perform a game jack would have had to act pretty fast to find images for the site, code it, write a decent sized letter, and upload a script for password protected pages. Granted the site is pretty basic in design, so I'm not saying it would take a few weeks to design, but within a time span of an hour or two after the Tagruato page was discovered? Nah, it wouldn't be quite that fast.

I think we should treat it as IG until someone has definitive proof to the contrary.

Found this in the source for the page with the letter on

Code:

    You do not belong here.
    Megan would never come here.
I know who you are and will be tracking you.

add to that the director has confirmed an ARG..

Its also possible although a stretch that due to the feedback from gamehunters mailing Swamp Pops and Tagruato, BR decided to put a game together after the fact and thus the late dates etc.. Hard to know but this sure feels legit.. emails from Tag and Swamp Pops puzzle pieces indicate otherwise.. and how would they have gotten JG to pose in a Radioman70 t shirt?

If it's a father creating a website for his daughter, I doubt he'd get too intricate with the design. Remember that the last time a character in the Clover-universe put together a website to communicate with another person, we got jamieandteddy.com. And the design for that site makes this one look like espn.com by comparison.

Spelling mistakes are common human error. Looking at it on the flipside, maybe the spelling errors were intentional to make the letter seem more authentic and human.

The box with the letters in is missing the letters A, E, G, M and M, spelling Megan!

So, Howard works for Bold Futura. Bold Futura's domain was parked in 2007, around or slightly before the teaser trailer debuted. We didn't even know that Bold Futura existed until Tagruato's site went up and mentioned that company, which was months after the ARG officially started. We may want to keep an eye on that website to see if it suddenly becomes active.

Proof: http://www.whois.com/whois/boldfutura.com

JG's shirt is so obviously photoshopped it's kinda embarassing. The letters don't follow the contours of the shirt. The picture itself looks like it might be a costume/wardrobe photo from the shoot.

I'm not saying there's no arg, there's DEFINITELY an ARG now, ok ? But it's been slapped together quick. Which makes it hard to tell if funandpretty is IG. We don't know if his Tshirt was meant to lead us to a website.

Also, you're all underestimating how quickly the Reddit trolls can work. Just... Be cautious.

It says Vanessa Gwon has been with the company since 2006. Looks like she survived the company "restructuring"

From employee of the month January page: "Vanessa first started working at the Tagruato Corporation as an Executive Assistant to the VP of Public Relations in 2006."

I bet she helped spin the entire thing as if there never was a monster, and NYC was just bombed.

I only have limited coding and some basic SEO knowledge, but would it be possible to have this site created and designed, then just register the radioman70 url to redirect once the game was pointing that direction?

If radioman70 is the only thing really connecting the two pieces, i'm remaining skeptical but hopeful!

Did some cursory searches for both Megan and Howard Stambler. The only results I could find was for Howard pointing back to the Cloverfield Clues article for the EotM page. No Facebook or Myspace profiles that I could find.

Rolling Eyes Excuse me. Someone mentioned that BoldFutura was a "known" gamejack, and I provided a whois record that shows it was registered around the time the teaser trailer debuted (possibly before). Bold Futura was not mentioned IN GAME until Tagruato's website went up. Tagruato's website, if you wanna do some fact checking, launched way after the trailer and initial viral sites were already up. I wasn't trouting, I was clarifying.

The stench of elitism on this forum is heavy. There was none of this back in '07. Guess I'll go back to lurking and not participating. Whenever someone wants to entertain something contrary to the general opinion of the elitists, even if they're honestly trying to be helpful and participatory, they get a bunch of attitude and shitty comments. Have fun, guys.

Attempts I've made for the second password:

Necklace
HAM Radio
Radio
Walkie Talkies
Walkie Talkie (the name of the chat "software" on the site is Talkie Talk)
Teenagers
Teenagers Magazine (the magazine she's reading on the couch in the trailer)
Cannibal Airlines
Paris
Sunflowers
Cat
Fortune Cat
beckoning cat
Meneki-neko
Maneki neko
Lucky Cat (on the FAPT page next to computer)
Paris trip
Life
puzzle
Eiffel Tower shirt
jukebox
ice cream

I don't know, I'm trying to think of what kind of gift could be inconspicuous enough to be a secret, presumably from the mother who Megan is living with.

I've googled Megan Stambler and nothing comes up.

I'm also thinking about who could have written the message in the page source. It's clearly not Howard. If this website was set up by Howard in order to communicate to Megan, he wouldn't have talked about her in the third person. I think the page source message is directed to Howard.

I doubt that it's the mother or anybody who knows Howard well, but it seems they know Megan well enough to say what she would or wouldn't do. The person wouldn't be Howard's wife/Megan's mother because the mother wouldn't need to say "I know who you are" or need to track Howard.

It's possible the third person hacked Howard's website to insert that string of code, and I guess that seems like the most likely explanation. But still, we have a third character here who I don't believe knows Howard but clearly knows Megan.

EDIT: I think the person who owns FAPT is not Howard. "You do not belong here." I believe "here" refers to the website. The second "here" might refer to the website or to the second shelter.

Might be changing my tune a little. I think funandpretty might be IG. The images on the front page. The sundae looks oddly lit - like maybe it was a picture taken on set, and you can see the edge of the same bowl in the music box picture. The wreath/egg thing I can't find in the trailer but it really looks like a prop from the bunker. Also the magazine is not a real magazine. I think it's a prop made from stock images just like the other teen magazine in the trailer.

If so it means I've been right about Howard being a vet, the bunker being y2k leftovers, the Paris connection and odd decoration of the set being about his wife/daughter. That's an awful lot and it's throwing me off! I've never made so many right guesses!
