Inversely, I do want people thinking I'm a jerk. Because I am.

Thanks for the heads up, Gaelph guy. Good luck with the endeavor.

Most of us get pinned with that from time to time, and we don't even have to be a PM to get it. Wink Laughing

Just got a reply.

Quote:
I apologize for the delay in responding. Recent events have left me with many enemies and very few friends, and I have to be careful who I communicate with. How can I know I can trust you?

If you are my friend, please excuse my suspicion. I beg you not to take offence from it.

Who am I, you ask? I plan to record this in my journal; you will be able to learn who I am there. But first I must have record a history of my people. This will help you to appreciate the urgency of my charge.

And where am I going? I am seeking the people of Na'Seht. You surely think I am mad for doing so; but without the Na'Seht, my people, though they insist on denying it, will be destroyed. The Gods have decreed it. And who can deny the Gods?

Be patient with me friend. I hope to include you in my circle of trusted friends soon, but as I said before, I have to be careful.

May the Gods be with us!

Gaelph

And the site has changed too.

At the beginning I sent out a generic email to gaelph

Quote:
Who is Gaelph? And why is she going on a journey? And is there
anything I can do to help?

Rowan

I just got this back:

Quote:
From: gaelphSPLATgaelph.com <gaelph@gaelph.com>
To: Rowan
Date: Fri, 14 Jan 2005 16:04:02 -0700
Subject: RE: Her journey...

Oh dear Gaelph. Would that I could've helped her more. But I have done what I could. I can only ask now that the Gods watch over her.

And why did she leave? My sir, were you not at the trials? Did your heart not sink as mine when they read her sentance? Or were you among the sneering and accusing masses? Are your hands, too, stained with her blood?

The Master's rarely pass a death sentance death on any soul - and never before has the Counsel found fit to execute so precious a gem as Gaelph. Why did she leave? My man, what else was the girl to do? I helped her all I could, but she had little other support, and it was her only choice - to leave or to die.

Can you help? Not at this point. But if you are a true supporter (and I am not yet offering you the benefit of that doubt), keep contact. Anyone familiar with the intricacies of politics knows that a brief period of silence is best at this point, especially for a person in my position. But after time, who knows but that we (her supporters) will be able to convince the greater public that she was ultimately right.

With reguards,
Keffler

One point I'd like to make: I'm not a man.

Site Update:

Quote:
02 18 1456

The Gods initiated the First Epoch by creating us and our world. They did so because they knew that by creating us and placing us in a world, they could teach us, and that if they could teach us to be obedient, we would be a joy to them forever.

We are their children. Ours is the only world we have ever seen, but the prophets have always taught us that we were not the first world that the Gods created, nor shall we be the last.

The Gods have always called wise men to be prophets and teachers in our world. These prophets ruled over our fathers, and were called "Masters". The Masters served in civic governmental positions and as spiritual guides. A very few of these prophets, only the greatest of all the Masters, are called as members of The Counsel. The Counsel is the highest of a prophet's callings, and to sit on its bar is to reside near the Gods.

Throughout history there have been periods of time where a great number of men have presided over society as members of the Counsel. The third Epoch, for example, saw the Counsel grow to over 300 members. Other times in our world have seen as few as oneAt the present time (epoch 1456) the Counsel is a very small group. There are currently only two who hold this office: Master Gim and Master Keffler.

In the above letter to Rowan, Keffler seems to be a supporter of Gaelph and says:

The Master's rarely pass a death sentance death on any soul - and never before has the Counsel found fit to execute so precious a gem as Gaelph.

And yet, in the above site update it states that there are only two members of Counsel, Gim and Keffler.

So did Keffler betray her? Or was he left with no choice? Or is one vote enough to get the girl convicted? Does Gim hold a certain seniority or more exalted position than Keffler?

Hmmm?

In addition to gaelphSPLATgaelph.com there are also 2 new email addies:

kefflerSPLATgaelph.com
Master Keffler - One of only two members of the Counsel

estinSPLATgaelph.com
Master Estin - A great prophet who wrote a book in which he states that:
Before time was, the Gods were
.
(The First Book of Estin)

Update:

The "Neft hapten, ko'dahn Gaelph" is now clickable.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Takes you to a graphic that reads "The Writings of Master Estin"

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
In fact there is more than one part to the graphic, the little lines at top and bottom titled "epitaph". Which are the same.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Open "epitaph" in notepad.

You get:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
When wisp consumes substance,
and shadow breaks stone,
when lowly estate meets
the victor's sweet morn,
there then find heroes;
There then alone
stand true men of honor;
Men worthy of throne.

Well I wrote Keffler asking him to "splain" himself. That he seemed to be a friend of Gaelph's and yet as one of two members of the counsel, must have been a part of her sentencing.

I guess we have more than one Keffler, and the one I wrote is the KING, and Gaelph his daughter.

Quote:
I a member of the counsel? May it not be so! Once such an honor I could hardly have dreamed, but now the mere thought of sharing namesake with one of its members shames me. May the God's keep my parents, they couldn't have known such an honorable name would become as vile a curse as this. Would that I could be rid of it.

But how can a king escape his own name? I shall bear it, if only as a burden. Some would tell you that I am still in agreeance with the Master; that my apparant hatred is only a trick - a political ploy. True, I was once closest friends with Master Keffler, but do not shame in saying that I now despise the Master. No, not master - the mere man Keffler. The corruptible, deceptive, wicked man Keffler! Had I not a kingdom to keep, I would have killed him myself at the trials.

And did I betray Gaelph? Be careful of the accusations you make, oh man. The air is still hot with contention, and even one who claims to be unfamiliar with my world may find he treads dangerous ground by making such accusations lightly. How could I harbor ill will towards my own precious daughter? True enough, familial bonds have shown imperfect and perishable recently. My own dear wife is now proof of that. But I can assure you that I, and every other true-hearted citizen of this kingdom will support and fight for my precious gem Gaelph. Would to the Gods that my wife would do the same.

As a favor, friend (if friend you be), I ask that you dispel such sentiments as this wherever and whenever you hear them. To watch my own daughter be condemned to die has been sorrow enough, even for a king. It is hardly bearable now to hear people say that I wanted the sentance passed!

King Keffler

Just an FYI, "Na'Seht", without the apostrophe means "See Well" in German.

I am interested in Gaelph, but I implore the PM(s) to stop commenting and trying to clarify themselves.

I don't think any of the communication thus far was neccessary. The origin of the site doesn't matter, players - if they dig deep enough - will find things out. There's really no need to explain your choices etc.

As far as the pic of the brunette Gaelph, I saw it awhile ago and immediately discounted it as OOG. First of all the site is a little more "hokey" than what one would expect. Secondly she says her name is Gaël and that she is 15 yrs old, her code name is Baphomet, and goes on to describe things such as her eye color etc.

The site is a profile of a young girl who is a member (there is a link on her page) of a Data-processing club (CYBER-P@GODES) at a secondary school in Brussels (Athénée des Pagodes).

Part of the enjoyment of playing these games is digging up things and then figuring out if they are important or not.

(Said in the nicest possible way):
"I want to play, but don't want to be babysat....."

It's worth noting that these are two separate riddles, with two separate answers/input areas.

Still trying to figure out if it may be a two part answer, IOW.....do we need both correct to get it right?

Thought maybe "second sight" (dying man pleading for another second of life/blind man wishing for sight). But there's no correlation between "second" and "thirst no more".

Cup is listed as a synonym for "fate" or "destiny", but I'm not getting anywhere in that direction either.

This puzzle reaffirms my suspicion that I suck at riddles.

very disappointed! tried to turn on a new player to the game, and of course, the site is down. does that mean someone solved the puzzle??

and of course i knew the the pic was OOG, for the most part, i was just excited that google dug something up, plus it spooked me, scary eyes, baphomet is coming, etc.
searching for answers can be lots more fun when you find some fringe stuff (at least for me...)

caterpiller, you did say that Na'Seht was see well in german, so maybe that has something to do with the first riddle. of course, i am at a bit of a loss with the site not coming up at all Sad

and its okay, i suck at riddles sometimes, and right now i might be worse than usual, since my brain "gears" are rusty, but thats why im challenging myself with games Smile
