Did you e-mail them from your yahoo e-mail address? If so, then you're receiving a "failed to deliver" message (for example, I am getting mine from gmail). I think the failure delivery message is specific to the mail carrier - not to the perplexcitysentinel site. For example, mine, among other things, says:
Quote:
Technical details of permanent failure:
PERM_FAILURE: SMTP Error (state 10): 553 sorry, relaying denied from your location [IP removed] (#5.7.1)

In other words, this has nothing to do with "keys" Smile

the key is a piece of hardware and the sites not ready lets just wait and see until i think my mind might explode

The site is ready =D I do not think Perplex City would be inclined to have a newspaper that is distributed to over 5 million people 'not ready'. Sente or/Dinah would not have led us to an incomplete website, unless there was a good reason to lead us to it.

From past A.R.G's I have noticed that the login information is usually given in an image and the password is usually the background on that image.

I can not access much because I am behind a 'tight' firewall at work. However, if I was to attempt a few different method's of authentication I would use possibly sentinal as a username and helloword as a password (Given that the binary code on the postcard is the background of the title picture of the newspaper).

As a webdesigner I do believe there is more behind the fact that the image is titled 'frontpage'.. especially when it isn't purely for the front page but is a header on all pages. I don't know of any designers who would name an image frontpage if it belonged on all pages *shrugs*.

It seem's to me that most people are just sitting around and waiting for something to happen. Something happened. Now most people are sitting around waiting for something else to happen. Sente and Dinah can only spoon feed us so far. It is up to us to retrieve the cube. Let's get cracking people Geek

There's nowhere to log in!

The links that say they need registration in fact just lead straight to the authentification page. They are normal links.

The only possible thing we can do is guess directories on the site and search for hidden links.

In fact many of the story continuation links are just defaulted to the /authenticate page. I spec this is just a place holder for now which may change with the next issue (next week?)

Have looked at the Ceretin images (1.gif, 2.gif) but they seem as advertised Wink

The background in Frontpage.png looks weird. What's it "supposed" to represent? Is there something buried in there? Haven't found anything yet, but of all the images, this looks the most promising...

I think what's more likely is that this was done so that the PM didn't have to create an entire newspaper site. We see only what we need to see; everything else is "subscriber material". I, personally, am keeping my eye on the front page and not worrying so much about those links that don't go anywhere valuable.

um, I think that technique was only used in one ARG, and only by one group of characters in a limited way. That game was MU or the metacortechs ARG. I doubt the people in Sente's world would have played it. ;)

This is just the image of the skyline from the postcard. If you lighten the dark areas in an imaging program, you can see the rest of the skyscrapers too.

I just noticed that the "Perplex City Sentinal" banner and many of the section header images are located in the www.perplexcitysentinel.com/furniture/ directory. (not accessible btw)

For example the "Perplex City Sentinal" banner is located at:
http://www.perplexcitysentinel.com/furniture/sitewide/banners/frontpage.png

I know we've had some discussion regarding what "furniture" could possibly mean. Most likely, the /furniture/ directory is just a directory where the publisher of the Sentinal keeps certain recurring content. In other words, it most likely means nothing.

Furniture huh? Any connection to the WHITE truck seen at abbey road? Didn't that company have something to do with furniture? <Prepare for trouting!>

as was said in the quote you quoted, and also by me somewhere else, furniture is terminolgy for common recurring content on a page, either in web or print publishing.

EDIT: p.s. if you know you are going to be trouted, then why post in the first place?

i also agree with what many others have said in that we'll get a key, or gain access to the other articles when we need to. in the meanwhile we are overlooking all the stuff we have been given that we haven't particularly done anything with, except read it. we wouldnt want to look ungrateful in our impatience now would we? ;)

rach =)

I'm not very familiar with the jpeg standard, but can see that the authoring software can pack a fair amount of data into the image. If someone knows if it's possible to include custom tags, then they might be able to help explain if this is of any use.

I dropped the senteoped-wide-230.jpg image of Kryten Sente into Notepad, and started looking through all the authoring tags. There were some that seemed unusual, but as stated, my knowledge of the jpeg standard (and the xml standard) isn't great. Perhaps someone could shed further light? The following is just a sample...

Are we going to check for stegs in the images at all, or are we just going to be lazy and stupid and wait for some activity? I think we're missing something.

I don't think we should be waiting for the next thing to happen. Sente is getting spanked for not doing much and taking too long. If we sit and wait and get fed everything, this wouldn't be an arg.

Quotes from the 'Kiteway Unfit for Office' article:

Quote:
It is high time for this man to be called to account for his lack of action.

Well, after a year, don't you think that this plan should have come to fruition?

And why, above all, has this plan taken so long to put together? We've been waiting patiently, Sente, but now our patience is at an end!

I would take this as.. get our butts moving.
