Yeah, the soldier is the heavy in this scene. He'd need the gloves, to avoid leaving traces in a scuffle.

I disagree - the younger guy is described in that sentence:

The habit of perception was so automatic for Lucy that her conscious mind barely registered the clues: the parade rest stance, the gun holstered on the wrong hip, the faint medicinal smell of dandruff shampoo, the pale band of skin still showing on his left ring finger, and the hundred other little tells that gave him away.

It continues, still describing the military/younger guy:

What grabbed her conscious attention was that he was wearing fine-grained black leather gloves. She didn't know for sure what the gloves meant, but they made his hands look awfully big, and she was guessing they weren't a good sign.

The soldier tapped the door knob with one gloved finger, almost apologetic. "You need better locks."

The soldier guy is at parade rest, with the gun on his hip and the pale band where the ring goes. And also wearing gloves.
Confused

The game is still a bit confusing...people posted that they were chatting with characters...how did you chat with a character in the game?

I disagree -

Ah, I see. Hm, yeah, that looks to be an "oops". Ow. Well, at least she could still see the old guy's veins, which is what I was originally responding to. But, ugh, you're right about the younger guy.

Anyone notice that the Play Now button has a lighter wedge in it, almost like a pie chart? Maybe it's some sort of timer.

Laughing Oh, boy. I can already see this becoming a problem. It's nearly 5 a.m., and I'm still having a great time losing chips. Laughing The only problem I can see is I have so much fun playing poker that I keep forgetting there's a larger game here. Cool Do you think they'll let us keep the poker tables open after the ARG has ended? *crackhead* Laughing

Because I'm not playing. These guys are HARD CORE!!

This is a great game. Brilliant.

(EDIT: Nice win!)

_______________

This is fron the Dealer's profile, "Tips for...."

"You'll look around the table, and you'll see the same eight players: The Banker and the Sheriff, the Killer and the Kid. The Gambler, the Preacher, the Half-breed and the Drunk. One of them will be the Devil...."

The Banker =

The Sheriff =

The Killer = (the guy in Lucy's apt?)

The Kid = Trey Muncie (omarhakim) ?

The Gambler = Lucy Brown?

The Preacher = Clay Sizemore

The Half-breed = Anthony or Matt Viet (wtf616) ?

The Drunk = William Shiner

I think we're going to see an old-fashioned poker showdown. What do you guys think?

If this is right, we have a few more characters out there.

Just started playing here today, but having very strange table glitches (big yellow squares popping up over the table, message thread formatting problems). Apart from that, it seems a pretty good online poker game....and an intiguing story to boot.
