Is it just me or is the pic of the "bobby" at this site from the same source?
Probably taken from the same clip-art or public domain source.

They look pretty close to me.

However the face may have been "adjusted", look at the eyes and jawline

I think he's right; I'm almost sure it's the same picture -look at the details of the uniform.

IF the two pictures really are the same then the ghostlike image on the right seems to be quite an important clue (given that it's not there on the original pic)

anyway, just a thought..

picture in the picture

is there any way, now that we have the picture source file, to kind of "subtract out" the policeman from the picture? So we can see what's left? Incidently, if this is doable, we could probably do it with the folder icon as well.

I think that "ghostly image" is only the sea urchin background, looks to me that the face some were talking about is only the edge of one of the urchins.

About the upper left red part of the image: looks like it's the same color as the text, maybe it's part of it?

There is an actor called "Bobby Diamond" (http://us.imdb.com/name/nm0224593/)

He was in a movie called "Scream" (no not that one) (http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0086262/maindetails)

"...no one ever returns from this phantom town of TERROR!"

I've seen mention elsewhere that "Brigadoon" has materialised Wink

No offense to the sleuthing, but I really think that the tenuous movie links aren't going to lead anywhere.

Another fact that everyone else seems to be passing up- The image is a DIFFERENT SIZE than it displays on the webpage.

The Folder is the easiest one, since we have easy access to the real source. The policeman is too messed up in this version.

Anyway, see if this helps.

I got most of the folder out but its a tad darker as a result.

Oh and ignore the diagonal white line on the right, this is most likely caused by slight registration faults during the masking.

Maybe its as simple as "To make it fit the same window as the previous pic"

It's not uncommon to resize pictures on pages to maintain consistancy.

There are unused navigation links which suggest that eventually you'll be able to skip through the pictures. Having different sized pictures would cause problems.

It is, in my opinion, extraordinarily uncommon to resize the image in the HTML when it's an original image created by an artist, obviously with digital imaging software.

Also, when viewed on the website, the text seems less distorted vertically, which, to me, indicates that it was intentional that the image is stretched vertically when not on the page.

Nice. That makes it pretty clear that there's no face there, but simply the edge of the urchin. One less Photoshop detail to wonder about.

So now we have that folder icon (pointing to something, or just highlighting the man?), bobby, urchin (or the sea or "bobby overseas" or "over caesar"), the caesar/brute/brutus quote, and the rolodex/index with the raised card in the F section (I would put the cards behind the letter, in order to access them faster) to consider in this one picture.

Actually I think it even makes it more clear that the face is *not* part of an urchin. I think that the magnifying glass over the bobby was a clue to zoom in on his picture, that's when I first saw the face.

I think what you see as a face (eyes and mouth) are simply two cracks in the urchin shell. A cracked urchin looks exactly like that :)

I don't think it's a face at all, it is more likely the opening of the urchin. The magnifying glass means to search, and the library cards represent an author whose last name is F? (maybe Q or W even).

Not sure what the bobby is all about (and what the red letter is, looks a bit like a 0 with a / through it).

The bigger question than all this is how does paintover relate the the rest of the game. Noone so far seems to be able to get any clues out of either picture. Maybe it is a red-hairing?
