The Terms of Use linking to a Disney site makes it more official in my book... See also the old Hanso Foundation site and its Terms of Use.

Yes, but in the TINAG spirit, an ingame site would probably not have obvious terms of use on the page, i.e. the new Hanso site

If users are submitting personal information, Legal tends to require Terms of Use on the site.

has anyone successfully subscribed to the RSS feed? When I click it, it get a curious error message:

If you've got firefox, there should be a "live bookmark" icon in the lower right corner of the browser when you are at thehansofoundation.org

Also, if you have a google personalized home page, you can click ADD CONTENT in the upper left corner, ADD BY URL right next the the search button, and paste the RSS link http://www.thehansofoundation.org/feed/thehansofoundation.xml

If you don't have either of those, there should be other ways to set up an RSS feed reader.

Considering that garytroup.net is the website for the Bad Twin book, and Bad Twin is published by Hyperion, and Hyperion is the publishing company for Disney, it makes perfect sense for the link to go to Disney's terms of service.

The "developing African nation" which is whited out in the "Mathematical Forecasting Initiative"...

The first letter is almost definitely a "Z", which wuld make it either Zambia or Zimbabwe. It looks like the word is too short to be "Zimbabwe", but "Zambia" would fit, if the letter tops we can see are the dot of an "i" and the top of a "b".

My speculation is that they either whited out "Zambia" to avoid getting grief from the Zambians, or they have just invented a generic developing African nation name.

Zanzibar (read the letters it must be)

the code for the miracle link is

asfunction:miracleLink

Seems like a flash method to execute a function on click (at a guess), maybe the code just isn't there... a slip up by the designers maybe?

New player...

Hi all,

So this is what I've managed to do so far...
1) called the hanso foundation and found among other things the password
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
breaking strain

2) Checked out the Hanso website and signed up to the news letter and followed the Joop loop. (Noticed that Peter Thompson seems to feature prominently in both letters)
3) Checked out the RSS feed wich came up with an interesting find by clicking on it (it has already been mentioned by terminalskeptik). This is what I'm currently working on. I've plugged the address into my RSS feed reader but have only found the two following messeges :

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
thehansofoundation.org relaunches18:27 03/05/2006, The Hanso Foundation
The Hanso Foundation stands at the vanguard of social and scientific research for the advancement of the human race. www.thehansofoundation.org re-launches with a new look. Sign up to the newsletter if you want to get updates.

Joop the Orangutans 105th birthday18:27 03/05/2006, The Hanso Foundation
The Hanso Foundation Life-Extension Project celebrated a milestone in the 105th birthday of experimental subject 626. Experimental subject 626, known to Hanso Life Extension project researchers as"Joop,"is an orangutan originally harvested by British explorers in the early 1900s
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Which both seem to contain no new clues...
So I'm looking into the page that pops up when you click on the RSS icon... But as yet no luck figuring out what "line 17 position 27" refers to other than it seems to point to the & symbole in the erronous part of the source for that page.

Any one following any more promissing leads, or have any ideas of how to crack this RSS part?

Also has any one called or e-mailed Hugh McIntyre the the media contact for the hanso foundation?

www.garytroup.net (From the US thread)

Takes you to another book called 'The Valenzetti Equation'.

Googling this brings you:
http://www.valenzettifoundation.org/index.html

Could be unrelated but the link to 'Life Extension' makes me think not...

EDIT: Ok, definitely related. The sponsors page mentions Widmore and a Global paradigms Corp, who mention as one of their clients, none other than...Hanso Foundation!

This is awesome.

I was just wondering where the Gary Troup link came from? Is this to do with the current game or part of older related Lost stuff. The website seems to lead to a lot of places...

e.g.
http://globalparadigmscorp.com/clients.html
http://www.valenzettifoundation.org/sponsors.html

This seems to open up a lot of new ends, I was just wondering if you reckon these are worth following up or are older sites resurfacing?

Very Happy

I think they're old sites....but i could be proven wrong.

Like said above, i think the line of "(This site is not affiliated with ABC, ABC, ABC or ABC)" really does cover it Smile

Re: [INFO] Clickable on MFI page

I think "About the MFI" is just the main page - if you look at the other active projects there is a similar "About"-link on every project page...

But there are other project pages with just the About page where the title is not clickable.

Oh, wait...so it's not strictly trout then if this guy's picture is hidden twice in Joop's corner: Once interlaced with Joop's image and the 'scribbles', and then again where I have just pointed it out?

So who the hell is this guy??

I see what you mean. It's in the same spot, so I thought of it as the same image.
