Morse translator site

Using this Morse Code translator site, one can input any text and hear the morse signal. You can also change the speed of it. To me, it sounds like SAVEME.

Re: Missing text on Hanso bio

Alvar's first name is blocked out of the first line of his bio. Further down the page another word ('world' I think) is also missing.

Trout well if you insist Smile
I actually mentioned this on the first page of this thread. see?

I could be barking up the wrong tree but do you think the relevant airport codes for the cities could be used (possibly anagrammed)? It's strange that Roma is used instead of Rome, but Roma is actually an airport in Australia and has it's own code (each code being three letters).

Many cities have more than one so it would mean going through the variants, or picking the nearest to the name of the city eg London City instead of Heathrow or Gatwick. Nothing jumps out at me from the combinations of letters I'm getting but someone out there might make something out of it...

OK, newbie here, go easy - I've been lurking for a week because of registration probs...

A couple of thoughts. I'll spoiler them because they include Season 2 clues:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
First, the photo of Alvar Hanso on the site is also in the orientation film for the Swan station...which is copyrighted 1980. So, if Alvar Hanso has been jet-setting around Europe from June 14, 2000, with a last known public appearance in Madrid on Dec 31, 2002, then why don't they have a better photo of him?

Is the more recent "jet setting" Hanso, and the Hanso on the Exec Bio page/orientation film even the same person? Could there have been an accomplice Hanso all this time? No new photos since the film - was he killed during "the Incident" perhaps?

Second:

I know this has been noted before in another thread, but the map on the blast door indicates that the Black Rock is the "final resting place of Magnus (i.e. Latin for "the Great") Hanso". If this refers to Alvar, then he's dead (or perhaps cryo-d??)

Certainly, it seems that Persephone wants us to question the Execs of Hanso and who is running the show. It's not Hanso.

I haven't seen any mention of this anywhere so hit me with the fish if it's already been said Smile

Is it just me or is the d missing from the "sound" at the top of the page. I don't see how it links in yet but it could be important if all of these blanked out bits have to be put together.

This is Mittlewerk's quote. Sounds to me like if Alvar Hanso really was around, that he was not trusted any longer, and the other executives felt it their responsibility to take care of Hanso, through the use of science.

Just another comment on the "safe g" theory:

(found out via flash decomp - you know the drill)
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
while i haven't found the exact location of where it is generated, the morse code is created "on the fly" during playback out of only two sound files inside the flash - a long beep and a short one. and the section that plays the morse code is...can you guess it?...called "safe".

Completely new to this but I'm wondering,
isn't it possible that the morse code is SAFE ME?

The end could be dash dash , dot which is ME
instead of dash dash dot

Depending on how you hear it the F could even be
a morse code typo for V.

Just a thought

Some pretty serious spec here... I looked into Oct. 28, 2003 since it was pretty heavily emphasized. There was a large solar xray event on that day, which piqued my curiousity because I remembered the ERI page had a picture of an ionospheric storm (which are typically caused by solar activity). The date on that picture: Oct. 28, 2001. Weird, but not a typo. Both days had major solar storms. These events can cause disruption in communications signals, producing static... like the kind seen obscuring the dates in today's update. I did a little checking up on those dates, and while some of them had higher than normal solar activity, some were totally normal. Nothing to get excited about, but the two October dates seem significant. Maybe somebody with more experience in this area can follow up with more success.

Checked up on Oct. 28... Columbus landed in Cuba (somebody posted spec. about Columbus related to the TV spot) and the Philadelphia Experiment supposedly took place...

RE: Solar storms on Oct 28, 2001

That date coincides with the point in the itinerary where Hanso goes "off the map".

Also, the map in the background as Persephone talks and her words flash on the screen (before the morse code) has green lights over Europe... similar to those we see on the ERI page. Obviously not a coincidence, but it was not on the first map as we jumped around Europe with Alvar.

Thoughts? (I looked & didn't find this mentioned...)

When Persephone says Alvar "doesn't match anyone else?" - it is a question. Like she is asking us if it does match someone else.

I think the picture looks a lot like Peter Thompson.

As many others are, I am of the opinion that the 01.01.2001 date for Hanso's return to Copenhagen after going offscreen to the north is not a typo, but deliberate. Given the electromagnetic event on that date (also the date in 1943 most frequently ascribed to the Philadelphia Experiment, which has been discussed in Lost circles since the beginning), the implication appears to be that around September of 2001, Hanso flew north, encountered an electromagnetic event on October 28 2001, and when he flew back found himself several months into his own past, landing back in Copenhagen in January 2001 instead of still in October 2001.

That also explains why he takes no trips between that mysterious January 2001 appearance and something in 2002. Between those dates, his normal-timeline self was still out and about in the world, so he, as a time traveler from October 2001, would have been kept under wraps until that October 28 2001 date -- because until then, there technically were two Hansos in the world.
