What kimer said! Smile
I'm looking forward, I missed the first couple of weeks of #1, my timing seems better this time! Smile
CTW1 is a little hazy in my memory now, i'm in two minds whether to brush up, or leave it a little fuzzy.

I'm not sure if this warrants a new thread, but the Synthasia website has been updated to display a screenshot of the new, apparently-functional site to come.

Source code has 'Synthasia Website Relaunching Any Day Now'. I've been thinking.... if you all remember CTW1 started on like a Thursday evening and that first weekend was 'fast and furious' with a lot of information, puzzles, etc.... basically 'hit the ground running' and got the plot moving.... (SPEC) could this weekend be the launch? Razz

Mythosphere also is different, plain white page with the following:

Code:
Stranger, dreams are intractable and hard to discern,
nor are they always fulfilled for men.
For double are the gates of fleeting dreams:
the one constructed of horn, the other of ivory;
and those that come through the one of sawn ivory,
they deceive, bearing unfulfilled words;
whereas those that come from the door of polished horn,
they fulfill true things, when mortals see them.

|| the mythosphere ||

Didn't catch anything in the source code.

Quote:
E. Cobham Brewer 1810–1897. Dictionary of Phrase and Fable. 1898.
Ivory Gate of Dreams (The).

Dreams which delude pass through this gate, those which come true pass through the Gate of Horn. This fancy depends upon two puns: ivory in Greek is elphas, and the verb elephairo means "to cheat with empty hopes;" the Greek for horn is keras, and the verb karano means "to accomplish."

Quote:
In Greek mythology, the Oneiroi were the sons of Hypnos, the god of sleep. They were personifications of dreams—black-winged daemons—and they were said to live on the shores of the Ocean in the far West, in a cavern near the border of Hades. The gods sent dreams to mortals from one of two gates located there: true dreams emerged from a gate made of horn, whereas false dreams threaded their way from a gate fashioned of ivory.

What a fantastic surprise! I'd been thinking about Chasing the Wish lately. Probably because of the Lost Experience which I came here to investigate. Then I found these threads and can't believe that we really get a chance to play again.

I just found the stone I got from the first game - going to get it scanned to use as my avatar. I think I've even got the stuff I won on the auction somewhere in the bottom of a desk drawer. Just checked the emails from CTW1 and have 369 including most of the ones from Bruce and the little "group" we had.

I kinda feel like I've come "home" to a place I loved playing in.

A big "hi" to those I know from having been involved over at CD and glad to find nicks I recognize over here. (btw, my nick was passion at CD but I used Sandra in the game.)

Can't wait to get started.

For some reason I think in the back of my mind that there will be a "launch" (or the known websites go "live") on the 28th. I think this is when the online version of the graphic novel (i.e. comic book) is suppose to be available. This would be a Sunday, middle of a holiday weekend (so most folks will be off work).

Welcome back Sandra! The one thing I remember about you, was your crush on James Pitt from Search4E. Wink

If you check here it says the online version will be available starting May 23rd. I hope we don't have to wait until the 28th for launch. I've been waiting since I read Dave's book "Through The Rabbit Hole" last October.

Since The Lost Experience is moving kinda slow, and I should really get involved in this because of my major, I'm thinking of playing CTW2. I might not be of much help, but I'll do my best! Very Happy

[Research]New text on mythosphere.org May 18, '06

There appear to be different versions of this on the world wide web.
From Homer's The Odyssey Book XIX
Quote:
And Penelope answered, "Stranger, dreams are very curious and
unaccountable things, and they do not by any means invariably come
true. There are two gates through which these unsubstantial fancies
proceed; the one is of horn, and the other ivory. Those that come
through the gate of ivory are fatuous, but those from the gate of horn
mean something to those that see them.

and
Quote:
Dreams surely are difficult, confusing, and not everything in them is brought to pass for mankind. For fleeting dreams have two gates: one is fashioned of horn and one of ivory. Those which pass through the one of sawn ivory are deceptive, bringing tidings which come to nought, but those which issue from the one of polished horn bring true results when a mortal sees them.
Also, The Odyssey

Their meanings are essentially the same.
I've been trying Homer, the_odyssey, dreams, Oneiro added to the mythosphere url...no luck.

Welcome, shinything & Welcome back, Sandra. Smile

P.S. This is why I love Dave's games.....they are thought provoking, and expose us to new or long forgotten gems.
