Remember the last lines from "The Blob?" (1958 version.)
Lieutenant Dave: At least we've got it stopped.
Steve Andrews: Yeah, as long as the Arctic stays cold

Posibbly why its so hot in NY, also paramount has had the rights to the movie for awhile, they origianl director of the new remake left for disney...nothings has been released on the project since he left

Re: Possible clue, or just a Flash oddity?
Is this anything?

Now, I'm not sure if this is a potential lead or not, but on the 1-18-08 site, if you hit "tab" while clicked inside of the Flash, a big yellow link box is overlayed over one of the pictures. Hitting tab multiple times scrolls through each picture in the order that they were added. Hitting the "enter" key does one of two things - either the picture selected gets brought to the front of the stack of photos, or the picture moves (if you've moved the picture already prior to this). I have limited knowledge of Flash, so I'm not sure if this is just the .swf acting weird, or if this was intentional. Furthermore, if this is, in fact, intentional by the creators of the site, I have a feeling that there might be some sort of code involved with selecting pictures in some sort of order and typing something in particular when it's selected... but that might very well just be wishful thinking. In any case, can any of y'all with more technical knowledge tell me if this might be a possibility to further our progress with the mystery of 1-18-08? I'd really like to know if I've stumbled across something that could help us.

That's the nature of Flash; each picture is another Flash element, and the "Tab" key just defines which one has focus.

I've decompiled the entire parent Flash movie; there's nothing there. The only code of note is the code used to move the pictures with the mouse, but nothing more hidden.

Forgive me if it's been posted...
..I searched and didn't find any text.

I saw this days ago and figured -- "eh, someone has to have seen it and posted it."

This was back when I was still not registered but reading page 30 or 40 maybe. (GEEZ! It's like crack!)

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
This link leads to a site where a crew member is discussing the shoot and location - Could be considered a spoiler I guess.

http://tinyurl.com/23mfyf

Anyway - I thought it was interesting that the guy mentions a giant foot as I have been steering my thinking more and more to some sort of statue coming to life. I saw on another site (forgive me for not having the link) that someone mentioned the episode of Lost where they find a giant statue's foot.

**edit - I did find the picture**

OK - enough blabbing about that.

I also wanted to say that in reference to this and my post about Mystery Street from The Blob and this movie not being connected, I did find it interesting that the location they were filming on in the linked article above is VERY similar.

Go easy on me folks - remember this is my first ARG. Trying to research some other ideas in regards to the ingredient - which IMHO - is VERY important. It's mentioned like 9 times in the History of Slusho.

Leviathan

Sorry to come up with yet another speculative theory not soley based on any concrete evidence, but here is why I think the Leviathan theory should be looked into further...

As any Lost fan will tell you, JJ Abrams has a massive hard-on for references to English philosophers. I can't recall him ever referencing Thomas Hobbes in the past, but I'm sure he has a pretty big hard-on for him too. Now, Hobbes' most famous work is entitled "Leviathan." I have never read this book, but from what I understand of it, Hobbes states his belief that in order to maintain a peaceful civilization, a state must be ruled by a very powerful, almost tyrranical, central government. He compares this powerful head of state to a giant sea monster, the Leviathan. I'm no Hobbes scholar, so don't sue me if that's not completely accurate.

Now, look at what happens in the trailer. A giant sea monster attacks the people of New York with the head of the Statue of Liberty. Consider this in a metaphorical sense: an all-too-powerful head of state is harming America by dismantling the foundations of freedom and liberty. Does this sound familiar? Perhaps a bit like some complaints against Bush?

This does not say anything about what the monster might actually be. The term Leviathan can refer to any giant sea monster. However, I feel this gives us some insight into what Abrams may be trying to ultimately accomplish with this movie: an allegory for the potential dangers of a powerful government.

Also, I tried doing some anagrams with the 'It's alive! It's huge!' line. If you insert an 'and', such as 'It's alive and it's huge!', the word Leviathan is contained in the anagrams.

Horse Of Fury?
Anyone else see this??

I just found this by using the Slusho site's "Fresh For You" on an anagram server and getting "Horse Of Fury" -

Somehow I thought to add slusho to the google search and got this photo on a blog called Monster Island??

Again.. with the whole foot thing I mentioned before... Interesting, but could be gamejacking..

Enjoy!
PS: Just in case it's real... in spoiler box.

Don't know if this is an IE vs. FF thing (I use FF), or maybe an artifact of the way this board renders hyperlinks, or maybe TinyURL itself, but when I follow that link all that happens is that I'm prompted to add a bookmark.

Malware?

2. has anyone tried (if possible) disecting slusho page?
3. is there anyone who has translated the japanese on the slusho page?

1. Somewhat...I think. Can you be more specific?

2. Yes. Nothing really interesting.

3. Yes. Again, nothing interesting. More or less matches the English.

According to the Cloverfield Wikipedia entry (unfortunately they don't cite their sources):

Yellowcard frontman Ryan Key put to rest a rumor while speak to MTV News stating that he is not in the film, but is open to the idea. In another MTV inerview a very close friend of Abrams Keri Russell confermed spending time on the set of the film but declined to confirm weather or not she had actually filmed a cameo just days before giving birth to a boy, named River Russell Deary, on June 9, 2007 in New York City around the time where the movie was finished being filmed. It has been pointed out that a very pregnate Russell could be seen very quickly amoungst a crowed in the first trailer.

A second teaser trailer is expected to be released along with the upcoming Paramount film "Stardust" on 08/10/2007, while a full trailer is schedualed to show with "Bee Movie" November 9th, 2007.
