Just got my first fax from TIMM! See below...

EDIT: Just a first thought - these obviously map to the Dark Dollar arrangements in the Reasonable Haven guide. I'm thinking now that we can somehow convert the Tweets from Chuck into movements through the Dark Dollar arrangements...

I guess we'll see as Chuck gives more updates.

EDIT 2: Incidentally, Chuck got to Big Brass City and sent an update at the same time the Fax was sent... Maybe I'm right.

my foolish friend

OK i haven't made any calls to mike because of my fear of telephones, but i just got done talking to my friend, who on her own accord watched the video and called mike without even knowing she was playing a game!

So anyway at this point we're unable to get an exact transcript from the call but she told me he said that he and his girlfriend broke up, and that he is working on retiling (his ceiling?) [could there be a pattern to all these repair projects?]

It really makes me wonder how many calls these people get, but be nice to her, she should be joining the game soon Very Happy.

Whoo Hoo!!!

Mars replied to my comment on her wall in Facebook! Here's the back and forth:

Me:

Quote:
Wow, it's pretty cool of you to befriend a stranger! Do you like dancing Ms. Madison? If so, perhaps when I get to Milwaukee we can go out and try the Street Car Shuffle?

I've been dying to try it since seeing the MTC video, but alas, I have no dance pard'ner!

Interested?

Mars:

Quote:
hi robbie. i'm not really the dancing type, and i really don't get the street car shuffle -- it really looks even less fun than normal dancing. still, i'd love to hang out some time. let me know.

I'm writing her again, let's see if I can keep it going!

EDIT: My new response to Mars:

Quote:
Do you think I could give you a call sometime? Facebook feels so impersonal and I have some questions about freelancing and what not that I don't feel comfortable posting here...you know...in public.

Also,

Mars status is:

Mars Madison is staying indoors until she's worked a few things out.

And, she posted this on Lipps wall:

Quote:
lipps, i think i'll take you up on your offer. can you talk later today?

There's a thread for tracking Mars communications here.

Well shoot, you beat me to it! lol But yeah, I wouldn't be surprised at all if this is the cool dog they are referring to. Their sense of history...it's as if children deduced it from 80's reruns. Which I guess, since they lost all their childhood memories makes them sort of like children starting over.

Note that they never say the cool dog. It's always a proper noun: Cool Dog.

Note that Cool Dog is shown at the beginning and end of the movie, and is displayed on the back of the book. At then end of the movie, during the credits, Cool Dog is shown in stained glass. To me, it seems almost like they worship him. "May Cool Dog watch over you" just hammers it home.

Not to repeatedly state the obvious, but Dog backwards is God. I can't help but feel that Cool Dog will play a very large part in the future of this...

lol just a couple of nights ago, I thought the same thing and ended up putting up a wiki page about Cool Dog.

Post on Milwaukee Craigslist

My internet has been down since Friday, so I have a lot to catch up on - including the development of a dedicated subforum. Not sure if this belongs here or in an individual post, but I ran across this. (I looked around and didn't see any discussion about it yet) It's a post in the Milwaukee Craigslist for "Openings at Blackstar for Winter/Spring (Milwaukee)". I'll throw it in here in case it gets deleted (Milwaukee CL has some spam problems, so I wouldn't be surprised if it gets flagged.)

BLACKSTAR OPEN POSITIONS

MILWAUKEE BUREAU, POWER
SPRING ACT 10/11

Blackstar Power has been Active America's leading energy supplier since ACT 5. Our centrally located Milwaukee bureau provides crucial services to the greater Milwaukee/Grand Rapids region. These listings are current as of ACT 10 Dec 11.

OFFICE MANAGER
Always wanted to work for Blackstar, Milwaukee Bureau, Power, North Team? Now is your chance for a rewarding career in Power North. While Uptown may not get all the attention, our office has a hard-working crew that keeps the fires burning. Heavy phone work. Polite manner, stern voice essential. Shovel provided.

JUNIOR RE-SEATER
If you have quick reflexes, a passion for re-seating, and the minimum 500 supervised re-seat apprentice hours, we want to hear from you immediately! Junior Re-seaters work in a fast-paced environment where anything can happen--and does! Your responsibilities will shift by the minute as you dash from crisis to crisis, struggling to maintain a semblance of order in an increasingly chaotic Bureau. Do you risk it all to save the core, or cut your losses and never look back? Better have a fifth ace up your sleeve--cause these 'tors play for keeps.

JUNIOR RE-SEEDER
These belong underground. Where are yours? After undergoing our three-week on-site training program, the JR-s will begin field work as a member of an R-s squad. We will supply housing and a weekly spa stipend, in addition to a uniform and FT*Case. Ladies only, please!

MILWAUKEE BUREAU, SPORT
SPRING ACT 10/11

Blackstar Sport: Catch the wave! These listings are current as of ACT 10 Dec 5.

SENIOR POWER LIFTER, ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE
The Senior Power Lifter, Accounts Receivable reports directly to the VP of Accounts. Duties include power lifting (100 kgps+), light phone work, presentation support. The ideal candidate will have three years power lifting experience in an accounting environment.

STARTING FORWARD, THE MILWAUKEE BLACKSTAR HOOPSTERS
Pining for the thrill of the hardwood? The gaze of the crowd? Hoop it up with the Milwaukee Blackstar Hoopsters, Milwaukee's second most popular basketball group. Due to budgetary constraints, this year's try-outs have been greatly simplified: just mail a picture of yourself holding a basketball to infoSPLATThisIsMyMilwaukee.com. The winning entrant will not only secure her spot on the team, but also have her picture sent to our hated rivals, the Milwaukee FeBrizzio's Hoopers--so try to look tough and mean, like you're ready for a fight, or a big dinner! Only Hoopsters eighteen and older may apply. See you "on the court!"

STARTING FORWARD, THE MILWAUKEE MILWAUKEE TOURISM COMMISSION BLACKSTAR ICE DOGS BROUGHT TO YOU BY FEBRIZZIO'S
Longing for the zazz of the ice? The roar of the pucks? Skate it up with the Milwaukee Tourism Commission Blackstar Ice Dogs Brought To You By FeBrizzio's, Milwaukee's third-most-popular hockey group. Last year the Ice Dogs made it all the way to the first round of the Active America Cup, where they were edged out by the Duluth Hockey Masters. Due to budgetary concerns, this year's try-outs will be conducted with a standardized test. Dual applications to the Hoopsters and the Ice Dogs are discouraged, but permitted. See you "on the court!"

SECOND BASE, THE MILWAUKEE BLACKSTAR BREWERS
This will be the year the Brewers win it all! Must have own glove, shoes. Unpaid.

APPLY TO:
Michael Lewis
Communications Director
Milwaukee Tourism Commission
mail: lewisSPLATThisIsMyMilwaukee.com
cell: 414-688-8471

In case it's removed, I've mirrored it:

http://bunnitude.com/misc/milwaukee/craigslist.html

Significant:

FT*Case: Family Tree case. Probably what Worker was holding when his glasses shattered. Perhaps Worker is a re-seeder when he's not doing other things for Blackstar.

Senior Power Lifter: Maybe Worker also does this. POWER! WORKING! (100 kilograms per second? Worker would have to have an incredibly high powerclass. Razz)

Perhaps this is not Cool Dog, unless Michael Lewis was drunk:

- monospaced font looks a bit better

Also, the "current" year is ACT 10.

Office Manager: Keeps the fires burning and comes with a shovel. Maybe Uptown is using coal power instead of M-rotors.

That is good. I don't see much to go on puzzle-wise though, unless female-only reseeders is a clue.

I fixed the logo -- also not much to work with, sadly.

I'm thinking planting the Family Tree may have something to do with reproduction.

First off, great find with the Craigslist!
The monospaced version makes me think of the chateau. I wonder if Michael Lewis would tell us about its significance.

Perhaps worth noting, the same ad is posted in Duluth, Grand Rapids, and Decatur... but not Wichita.
