*would_that_help*

Okay ladies and gents, the 1437 axon of would_that_help is hot. Here's the skinny:

General info:

Story Arc: Jersey/Durga
Wind Up: None
Wind Down: None
Characters: Jersey Morelli (J) & Durga (D)
Background Noise: Big Band Jazz, sound effects (will post in text)

Rough Transcript:

(Big Band Jazz playing in background)
J: Taxes are good. They pay for roads, drinking water, schools, all sorts of things.
D: (sarcastically) Yeah, I can see you're using it wisely...
J: Well, they paid for you.
D: But I don't see you giving me back...
J: Well, I should.
[sound of electrical power shut down/slight pause/start up]
J: Whoa, what's going on? Why did the lights flicker?
D: (sheepishly) You're not going to... give me back... are you?
J: No, of course not! Why is it so important that you stay with me, anyway?
D: I don't know exactly... I... like you, I guess.
J: (matter-of-factly) Who doesn't?
(sketchy on this part, Durga mentions that there are things she wants to do but is somehow unable to)
D: Like that auditor.
J: Jesus!
D: I can kill him, if you want... would that help?

That's about all I got. Not exact, but that's the bulk of it and I reviewed my notes several times to ensure general accuracy.

**No wind up/down sounds indicates this string is immediately preceded and followed by other files. I think *taxes_suck* may come directly after this file due to Durga mentioning him in her speech towards the end, which would tie into the beginning of *taxes_suck*.

The phone didn't ring until the last posted time... 1437 local, no calls at 1419, 1425, or 1431. There were other persons (not !beekeepers) present but not using the primary axon phone. At 1441 local, after posted times, a second call came into the payphone NEXT to the primary axon previously verified. The AI asked for the ship assigned... JT was there to answer "Apocalypso" but the AI must not have recognized it... it gave no response to the answer and looped *ilovebees* for about 30 seconds and disconnected. The 1441 axon was located at a completely different GPS coordinate.

Hope all this helps, and I will *try* to get back to that location for another shot on Friday if the other axons don't complete the connection requirements. I can't do this everyday as I work overnight and lose 4-6 hours of sleep time running the axon. But once a week is okay by me Smile

In case anyone is tempted to post more here, remembered transcript of s_typi can be found at the link that sherpa mentioned above.

Wow. Hiro is a tool. Not only does he seem to actively CB Kamal, his inability to pick up on certain cues in the past makes you wonder how Kamal deals...

I'm interested in seeing what else the Sophia/Kamal storyline has for us, other than making us cheer for Sophie and Kamal to get together. Entirely valid, but I doubt that's really the crux of the plot there.

I'm guessing Aiden's continuing to try to use her to draw Kamal back into the honeypot.

If Sophie pulled the "value our friendship" bit, Kamal needs to pay attention to different fowl.

And Heero might also realize his friend is being used...

Hmmm ... OK possibly. Although we can't be sure of what kind of genetic dispositions we're talking about there. S-II abilities generally come from the modifications, not necessarily natural talent - but I can see the spec.

The children used in S-II were the fastest, smartest, luckiest... John always won, eg: king of the hill in FoR, and the coln flip the Dr performed to see if he was lucky.
These traits would be passed on to children, eg: Jan from her tweaked parents.

It's problematic for the timeline though. Unless there's new S-II recruitment taking place, which doesn't really fit what we know of the Haloverse story, it would be taking place before the Covie war ... which doesn't fit the Grumpy Old Man timeline.

Good point! This could be a S-III, but since the war is already going, I think we can say that they are deffinetly not S-II's

He didn't know it. But those that were picked for the SPARTAN-II program were already the cream of the crop on their own:

Agreed. It sound like Kamal is talking about how is sister was fast, smart, lucky until she died.
The sister is smart, fast,lucky...
Then she gets taken into the (?S-III?) program
She is replaced with a flash clone who dies shortly thereafter

It really doesn't matter if the flashclone dies quickly or over the couse of years, or if she was just as smart and fast as the origional. The point is that she was replaced.

The flash clone angle would help explain why JJ thinks "lots of people would be hurt" if Jan's secrets got out. Perhaps Jan should have been flash cloned? [wild spec] Maybe JJ's unit are some renegade S-IIIs?

Any chance you could rephrase that in a slighty less disjointed manner? I hardly understood a word of it.

I think that he was trying to say that Jan is Kamal's sister, but was taken away at about age 5 or 6. So, Janisary James = Kamal's sister?

Um... didn't see this post about the Fable axons until I posted my synopsis of surgeon_general in the general forum... so maybe if someone can delete my post over there, that would be great... Anyway...

surgeon_general is online and available for download thanks to the great work of team surgeon_general!

Synopsis: Kamal is cooking chicken in his apartment when Sophia drops by. She asks about the smell ("Why does it smell funny in here?") and Heero Yuki, Kamal's roommate jumps onto the scene with a witty pun about science. Kamal drops a couple hints about Heero leaving soon, like now, and Heero introduces himself to the Sophia. In his words, "Hey, I'm like the Surgeon General, man! She should be warned!"

[SPEC] surgeon_general -> ? -> s_typhi [/SPEC]

There may or may not be anything between surgeon_general and s_typi. I was one of the people who answered the s_typi (12:19) axon, but I did not get a clean transcript.

These are definitely in the same scene however and are part of the Kamal/Hiro 3 act.

definitely one take. Jan still doesn't seem very military to me, but as others have mentioned - maybe that is the point. Maybe JJ's unit would be the caretakers of this new line of superhumans?

I have no idea what Jan's purpose could be, but she is definitely smarter, faster, stronger and prettier than most other people (according to the Wavs, anyway). I would love to think that she's a version of the Spartan program, or even the counter-spartan program by Ackerman(or whatever his name is), but I see nothing to "prove" that to me. She may just have exceptionally good genes. Though with the "tweaked up", "skin" and "retirement" wavs, I'm starting to think that it's more likely she's some government experiment.

*shrug* We won't know until we get all the wavs unlocked, if then.

run_for_cover

Just listened to run_for_cover (14:29). The phone was at the intersection of two major downtown arterials so it was really hard to hear, but it sounds like it comes sometime after skin. It's the guy talking about how to hit the balls, I think--not too hard, not too soft, but just right. (Sounds like they are playing pool?) I listened twice but could never make out what Jan (I think) was saying.

The S-II program DID continue after MC's generation of S-II's. Their trainer, Mendez, even mentions heading somewhere else to train the next batch of SPARTANs, and since he is working under Dr. Halsey, I have to assume he meant S-II's.
