Going down a dark path...
Some in-game communication I am now sharing with you IN TRUST

First off, my apologies. I wasn't sure of protocol, and if I should be posting this or not. Thanks Azurewolf...

When i got into this ARG, I saw the "Confidential" YouTube video posted by AzureWolf. Also, noticing lots of people "applying" for jobs through careerSPLATblackwellbriggs.com. I decided to take a different route. I sent this e-mail instead:
Quote:
There is one of the CFG/77472 followers that may have upset you by posting a confidential video of yours on YouTube. He is one of my acquaintences, however I do not share his values. He has recently attempted to recruit me into the CFG group, however I am always looking for a better offer.

Azurewolf777 trusts me. He may have other valuable information. I can watch him. I can mislead him.

This got someone's attention. I got an e-mail in response with the subject line "got a pest problem?" from "Keyser Söze pestcontrolbbSPLATyahoo.com":
Quote:
SENDER:♠♠♠♠♠♠♠♠@___________.c♠m>

Smile"

When you reveal the letters that are covered, they spell out "Shizzire or maybe I should call you cheshire"

I responded with (a quote from the Cheshire cat):
Quote:
How fine you look when dressed in rage. Your enemies are fortunate your condition is not permanent. You're lucky, too. Red eyes suit so few.

Which got the response (which also included the attachment at the bottom):
Quote:
I enjoy the taste of mushrooms, but not the ones that bite back. Will you be my friend?♠♠♠♠♠♠♠♠♠

My response:
Quote:

Friend is an interesting relationship. However with such a calling card, a disciple may be a better association.

Keyser's response:
Quote:
And on the third day He spoke unto to his follower, asking thus; I needeth thee to submit unto the Babbage a Code most Sacred. A test of faith, if you will.

Promise only what you are prepared to deliver. I am destined to do battle with the Red Queen. The outcome is uncertain.

My response included another quote from the Cheshire cat:
Quote:
Every adventure requires a first step. Trite, but true, even here.

The Babbage can reveal no more, until the next sun rises. Perhaps then, I can submit that Code most Sacred. Is one more Sacred than the other?

The response back was in a seperate e-mail with the subject line "MUSHROOMS, POPPIES, SUGAR AND SPICE":
Quote:
♠♠♠♠♠I♠♠AM♠SO♠GLAD♠THAT♠YOU♠ARE♠ON♠THIS♠♠♠PATH♠

♠♠♠♠♠♠♠♠♠♠♠♠♠♠♠♠♠♠♠♠♠♠♠

This Babbage code is NOT on the list from the Nokia game. I've posted it into Babbage, and it is currently working on it. (how friggin long will this take???)

Please please PLEASE don't go sending him e-mails. I share this OOG, and I'd like to keep my relationship with this person "in a good state". I do not want to break this trust. I AM TAKING A RISK BY POSTING THIS.

Please feel free to analyze this (like the significance of all the extra spades in the last email), and offer suggestions for my next move!

Done with that set, will ETA results once the Babbage is done "working". Just let me know if you wanna assign me to another one to input the next time it allows me. Onward and upward....

The long way around I'm afraid... but 3F31BD is this picture http://twitpic.com/1puj8v

It's not been cut off on my end, that's what I see on the site.

Where do you find the code in the picture? I have no ide where to look.

I entered the second 5 codes on the list I have gotten from here but one is not the one I signed up for, sorry for this mistake:

Entered

925B35
FD5E6E
7E06B1
2A490F
30C3B1

instead of

925B35
FD5E6E
2A490F
30C3B1
14F437

I will post all five when decrypted.

Strange enough on Babbage the codes I entered the first day are not shown under the files anymore! I have besides the a decrypting file and some new, finished files also files in black with the code below and a file in red with no code showing. I'm becoming confused.

fanfan, that picture is what comes up for the file on Babbage when you enter the code, not the other way around.

What you see on Babbage is basically the progress everyone has made together. All of the files marked #****** are ones that someone else has entered to the system, which is why there's a big block of them in the middle.

Anyway, Babbage decrypted one file that I don't have, then file 9F3B51 which is another email log.

Now's not the time Burnett, we're knee-deep in this Zambia-op and I really dont have the daylight for a fussy lieutenant. Just trust me on this one, I've known Marcus for years. I know his friends. And it may well be that he's not the sharpest tool in the shed, but the fellow's got lots of connections in the green wave and he's ambitious.

Give him an honest chance.

Ive never questioned your decisions before and you knwo that I back you up anytime but making this marcus wanker our backup operator is making me edgy. I did speak to you on the matter of his application to the shepherds and thought Id made billy-o clear that this greenbie obviously aint got what it takes.
If we ever find ourselves in a situation where we actually gonna need an operator a wannabe eurotrash activist wont do us any good. I mean really this fish is basically dead from the neck up. Now take my advice and give my bloke a call.

That file is the "special" code shizzire received from keyser, it's pretty crazy. Looks like they're hacking the site.

Basically they are getting the hashed password for root:

$t4e0hufX$UH4Q5jTj93EEAODNrSaWO/

ETA:
Whoa. I was about to respond to the contact, and he's sent me an e-mail already:
Quote:
Du bist mein Held, Grinsekatze. Macht's gut und danke für den Fisch <3

x0x0
Schädlingsbekämpfung/your frand,
ALICE

Translates to:
Quote:
You are my hero, Mad Cat. So Long and Thanks for All the Fish <3

x0x0
Pest Control / your Frand,
ALICE

I immediately recognized the "Thanks for all the Fish" from "The HitchHiker's guide to the Galaxy." The dolphins (the most intelligent animals on earth) realize that the earth is about to be blown up, and that's what they say as they are leaving.

I'm replying with:

So brauchen Sie nicht das root-Passwort wieder entschlüsselt? Ich bin mehr wert als nur eine Marionette.

Which means:
Quote:
You have what you need?

You do not need the root password decrypted? I am worth more than a puppet

Babbage gave me so far:

925B35 is an instrumental track called "100521"

(How can I upload / share such a file here?)

FD5E6E is another email

Quote:

Subject: RE: RE: You've Got Mail

Okay, I kept talking to this guy, and after wiring him some funds, he delivered the goods. I don't know how trustworthy he is, a total black-hat, and full of himself but what do you expect. He offered to sell me some kind of email hacking software but I dunno. Also I want KC or TKAT to look at this before I call it legit but it looks about right, and it should confirm everything. I'd leak it, but I don't want to draw any undue attention ahead of any action you want to take.

Our man is called David, he's a local. Send your runners, I have the dates for May and everything.

And Thomas is fine, let me know if he gives you any more grief over this Marcus character. We should get together and eat whenever you're back in town.

Love, Claire

7E06B1 is another email:

Subject: You've Got Mail

You're not going to believe this Argyle but that lead I talked to you about last week finally paid out. Sure, I've got a bad feeling about this guy but he sure got some impressive connections. Anyway, the information should pretty much confirm your suspicions about the legality of the B&B claims. Also the fat cats are apparently talking about an affiliate that might need to go silent. I don't have the names and exact dates yet, but he's a geologist (?) and he's supposed to come over to the UK in May.

You want me to dig deeper?

2A490F
and
30C3B1

are black files with the code below, can't open or download them (???).

What's up with those codes? We had the emails before under different codes and I think the instrumental song, too?

So far for my 5 codes. Let me know which ones I should try next.

Article pertaining to Dave Stewart (avid updater of who is not a member on his twitter, Pegbox is part of his "Weapon of Mass Entertainment" group) and his role in Nokia's new marketing scope. I.e., CFG.

Probably not game impacting, gee-whiz type info.

I notice they haven't cited a source - I can only imagine they've taken the same as we have with her manager's twitter and blown it out of proportion. They're definitely on twitter, they started following me since this started and they seem to have a fascination with this Dave Stewart guy if the recent article list is anything to go by.

SamuelofR247 wrote:

It seems to decrypt in the order they were entered (except, strangely, Shizzire's special code). Mine are all going to be decrypted together, then it'll move onto AzureWolf's, etc.

EDIT: in the chat we just figured that the sound file for 925B35 is a message in morse code. Here's what we make of it...
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
MODING FOR THE BIRD TOWER, TAKING DOWN JACK.

I expect that the first part is wrong, but everything from "the" onward I'm absolutely sure on.
