Just wondering how many people are going to be buying the $5.99 expansion pack with 2 maps, or if people are goign to be waiting for the CD.

I have a question about Download content.

Let's say I pay for the maps and later on, my xbox craps out on me. Do I have to pay again to get the maps? Is it somehow linked to a gamertag or something like that?

The reason I'm asking is that I was thinking about buying the disc and didn't want to pay twice for these maps! A disc is just more reliable than having it on the hard drive. But if I can download it again if I need to, I won't bother with the disc.

That's a good question, since I lost two songpacks from DDR when I got the new XBox. I never even checked to see if it was gamertag-linked, or not. I really should. That was like, $10, out the window, if so.

It almost has to be pay-per-download. Otherwise, you could use a single XBL gamertag to download the maps again and again for all of your friends' XBoxen. Once a download is on the XBox hard drive, it has to be available to every user of that XBox, right?

Some things to note.

1) The next map set will be out June 28th, the same date as the DVD. That's 2 months away... an awful long time to miss out on the maps. The maps are downloadable for $11.99, and the DVD will sell with all 9 maps for $19.99, plus extras.

2) ALL the maps will be available for free by the end of the summer. So you don't necessarily ahve to worry about re-paying for them again if you screw up your xbox this summer. You just might have to wait a little longer. However, I don't know how long the DVD will stay in stores....

Two very very good points, INCyr. I still would love to get the DVD though. Since the DVD will be out the same day the second map set gets released, I might buy the maps now and then buy the DVD later. Will end up losing only $6.00. So, count me in.

I figure that it's worth $6USD for two extra months with the maps. If you break it down to a money-per-minute-of-entertainment analysis, it's a better deal than going to a movie or even renting one.

-- Steve must confess that Bungie pretty much rules his wallet, however, though somehow he's managed to resist the strategy guide and action figures so far.

You sounded like a MMORPG player trying to convice someone else that paying 15/month to play such game, is a VERY good deal! Laughing Oh, and I know that cause I used to do that ...

Yah, it's a bit of a rationalisation. (But still, $6 < $30 for the same two months... and then after that it's essentially free.)

-- Steve'll end up buying the DVD in June, too. He wants the videos, he does, yEesssss....

I think I fall under the category "Bungie's Bitch" when it comes to buying their products. Is that bad???

Don't know if it's bad. All I can say, is Welcome to the Club! You're not alone, as you can see.

I don't want to buy the new maps. Does that mean I won't be able to play with all you folks that do?
