The Firebox website is now showing the cards when you search for Perplex insead of the Receda cube entry. Bit of extra info here minus the promise of skywriters Very Happy

Quote:
We can guarantee you've never seen anything quite like Perplex City before. The Matrix meets Alice in Wonderland meets The Da Vinci Code in one of the most unusual concepts we've ever seen at Firebox. Is it a game? Is it a story? Is it a series of interlinked puzzles spanning mysterious websites, cryptic phone calls, stray emails, hidden messages and live events in random cities around the world? We're not entirely sure but we're looking forward to finding out. So what will it be - the blue pill or the red pill? If you value your sanity and free-time we suggest you take the easy way out.

Blue Pill? Good choice. You've arrived early though. So early in fact that our stock allocation from Perplex City has yet to materialise. We've been informed by Sente that the cards will be made available through nine stores in nine different cities around the world sometime before the end of May. It is our understanding that Firebox will receive stock at or around this time as well. Sente expresses his sincere apologies for this extended delay but assures us that every effort is being taken in Perplex City to expedite production.

The upside is that if you register now you'll ensure a high position on the waiting list. It'll also give you time to get up to speed with the developments so far.

last bit of this text links to http://blog.unfiction.com/perplexcity/
You can then enter your email to join a priority waiting list

Bet I'm gonna get trouted for this, but I did search honest

no trout, earlgrey, good spot!

So the launch is unlikely till late May, and the work we've been doing on the Parcel letter codes seems right.

From the perplex city academy website:
Quote:
Mathematics prize for 11-16 year-olds launched

The Academy is pleased to announced that it has launched a prize for mathematical puzzles for 11-16 year-olds. The Egremont Prize was named for a previous Mathematics and Logic Senior Fellow Bella Egremont who died last year at the age of 102. All schoolchildren in the greater Perplex City area will be eligible to enter the prize competition, which will include a wide variety of numerical and logic puzzles. Announcing the launch of the Egremont Prize, Professor Lindstrom, current Senior Fellow in Mathematics and Logic said: "this represents a fitting memorial to Bella, who was always particularly interested in bringing the joy and beauty of mathematics to a younger audience." Prizewinners will receive a trophy as well as the opportunity to attend a prestigious summer school at the Academy. (bolding by RI_Barnica)

So, is it just me, or does this imply that children in Perplex City only attend school between ages 11 and 16? Seems out of place to me. What am I missing here?

yes, but technically, the red pill took you to true reality rather than the matrix
In essence, we're pulling the [morpheus] wool over our eyes to blind us from the truth[/morpheus]. So the blue pill, in which we remain in the game world, would be the correct choice.

At least, thats the way I rationalise it.

11-16 is the age when UK kids go to secondary (high) school (ending with GCSEs at age 16). then there's an optional 17-18 Sixth-form (AS-levels at age 17, A-Levels at age 18.)
Hope this clears it up for you non-brits Smile

Edit: un-Cool-ified

Damn. And I just totally bought in to Erkose's explanation. Reverse step through the mirror.

Well, great thinking anyway Erkose!

Well, I sent an email when if you typed Perplex City into the search, it came to here. And half an hour later I got sent this.

Quote:
Hi Mark,

The page for the cards will be going up very soon. We don't have stock at the moment hence why nothing has appeared before now. The stock won't be arriving for a while but the page that we launch will allow you to add you details to ensure you are informed when they arrive so you can order some.

The 333 people who received cards were among those who signed up to the Perplexcity site and requested that they be sent more information about developments with it. At the end of April they sent an email to people who had subscribed with a riddle. The first 333 people to post the correct answer back to them received the pack of details that you refer to. I have subscribed through their website as I'm intrigued as to what it's all about as well, hence why I know what happened in this instance. Believe me. we don't know anymore than anyone else! That's part of why I subscribed.

Hope this helps and keep an eye on the site.

Many Thanks,

Then, when I looked back, the guy was right, they had put up a page. They must have got bored of all the people sending emails. This may not help, but i thought I might as well post it.

A link to the page you're referring to would have helped more. I can't find anything other than the original feature.
