I've had this site in my favourites for MONTHS!
It's been around for ages, AND I found out about it from this board.

Yes, its been on for 11 months (the age of this thread) I just noticed the bit about designing an advert and hadn't seen it mentioned before so posted it.

Aye, it's been that for quite some time, but quite a nice reminder for all the new players we have since it was posted.

Speaking of, has anyone actually submitted an ad design? From the copy I couldn't quite figure out if they were only taking Perplex City ads for the Earth edition, or taking Earth ads as well. What does "Earth-based design" mean?

At almost the same time, an article was posted in the sentinel stating they would be taking ads fFor Earth-organizations AND open design announced they would be taking ads fFor perplexian businesses designed by Earthers.

I submitted a nice banner ad fFor a telnet-based talker thing i run .. and I also submitted some other things. Bear in mind, these were made well before the opening of the official PCAG website, so I invented my own logo.

I hadn't really posted them anywhere, thinking They would pick whatever they liked and showcase fFrom there. But as it would seem they in fFact are not ever going to use these and both solicitations fFor designs were cheap taunts ..

(okay okay .. prolly not taunts .. I imagine they simply got busy or didnt like what they recieved or had some other goals in mind or something. Soon after these solicitations fFor design, a bunch of different ads began popping up in the sentinel, like the ones fFor Earthworks and Gates, fFranklin and Soupery and fFractionMedia. So one is led to believe they simply were underwhelmed by the offeings put fForth, and came up with their own story hooks.)

Amusingly, I put fForth the idea to them of running an ARG as an advertising device fFor Conundra. ARGs being very popular advertising engines, after-all. I didn't really put a lot of serious thought into that, but it had all the requisite cliche's: A computer gone mad, a murder, some WWII cyphers ... I think i went as fFar as to say to myself "Hey, that could be a lot of fFun to build! A meta-arg! cool!" and that was that.
