Points mean prizes just wondering as these cards are prototypes - will the points denoted in the right hand corner actually count for the perplex city leaderboard... if so how do we enter the points.
do we become a member of the Perplex Academy?
I am guessing we are going to have to sign up somewhere!!!!
Is there another site we yet have to find?
will it become clearer later on?
so many questions......

I believe the answer is on the back of the cards, it explains what to do - but I don't think it's live yet, as its supposed to be on www.perplexcity.com - where they will have a leaderboard from the cards...
... also - not looking forward to discovering those rare cards

i think, if i've read and understood everything correctly, you get the points when you solve the card.
you enter the solve on pc.com and they give you points... sometimes you get more points if you bring 2 or more cards together and solve multiple card puzzles..
so i suppose there will be a username allocation at some point- maybe when you enter your first solve?

I don't think we know anything about the cards apart from that they exist.
I haven't actually seen any yet but I don't see how you can gain anything other than a smug sense of satisfaction from completing them at the moment. Perhaps in the future there'll be a system where you can enter the card no. and the answer to gain points and points will reveal clues but that would go some way towards removing the team aspect as everyone will be trying to buy and solve the cards for themselves so poersonally I hope that doesn't happen.
Time will tell...
[edit] and it appears that my question has been answered before it was asked, good job guys!

I don't understand how the Academy(or whoever it is) can give out points for us solving puzzles. Maybe my thinking is behind the recent developments, but isn't the task to find the Cube?
The fact that anyone from PPC can give us points would indicate that they are leading us down a trail to the cube. So, if they know where it is, tell us! They want the cube back dont they?
The other answer is that they're playing games with us. "It is not a game" says me, "The Cube game we sent to earth has become the most popular activity there!" Says the Academy in a press release to the Sentinel.

Its possible that the points system is to work out who is "worthy" of recieving clues on finding the actual cube. Even so its quite strange.

Not sure how it would work though. Most, if not all, solves would be posted on the boards. How could they be a measure of an indiviual's solving ability?

This is really beginning to look like some kind of card collecting game. Surely it would be easier on us all (and our wallets) if all the individual cards were posted on here rather than everyone trying to collect the whole set at once.

While the solutions can be posted here, I'm sure that there'll probably be some sort of copyright stopping us giving really high res scans. As these are prototype cards it probably doesn't matter so much.

While that makes sense, it would, in my humble opinion, destroy what makes ARGs so incredible, collective intelligence. Although, with the addition of such a large prize to this game, it has never been a traditional ARG, if such a think exists.

It probably isn't intended as such, but the inclusion of the prize and leaderboard system is quite an interesting social experiment: How will a previously collective and co-operative society (ARG players) change their behaviour now there is big money up for grabs? Will they start to feel very competative towards one another, or will they still work together to find the final answers?
I'm thinking that, for the time being, the cards are part test, part practice for further cards and other puzzles.[/spec]

I would say that this isn't a traditional argers game. Most people on this are n00bs I think, including me. And a mad dash to claim the prize, a la Rat Race, isn't what I wanted to get out of this.
