UF Team I have a suggestion. When this thing goes live, we should have one team for UnFiction. This way, the community spirit is kept alive, and the forum as a whole will almost definitely be kept at the top of the leaderboard. We need to keep the community aspect of ARGs going, and not let the competitiveness get the better of us.
Who's with me?

I think it's premature to start splintering into teams of any form. We just don't know enough about how the game will take place, how the leaderboard will work, etc..
Let's not get ahead of ourselves.

Im trying not to split the community into teams. I just think we should get things straight before it starts: that we are in this as a whole.

NO SEGREGATION!!!!!
NO SEGREGATION!!!!!
NO SEGREGATION!!!!!
NO SEGREGATION!!!!!
NO SEGREGATION!!!!!
NO SEGREGATION!!!!!
I cannot stress that enough. The last thing the community needs is seperate groups fighting against each other for friggin 'Perplex Points' I'm 99% sure that's not why any of us signed up here and damn it, that's the way it should stay!!
In case you misread something, I'm agreeing 100% with the author of the topic.

But there are already other teams here: http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=10147.
I'm not sure what to make of the request for information or the decision to lock the topic.

I just don't think we know nearly enough about the way things will pan out yet to even say there will be a benefit in forming 'teams.'
The previous topic was locked, and the moderator stated that 'here at UF will we all function as one.' I don't see why any further discussion of that is necessary.

That's not a team, it's a locked topic. It's a failed attempt at a team. I don't care if the PCG forums are tackling this seperately, I'm just worried about this community trying to split up into groups.

Not if you go through to their site it's not. And they're here and they're vocal. There's nothing wrong with that as long as it's share and share alike. I don't believe in teams or factions or in paying for cards in an environment where the gameplaying is supposed to be free. We don't know how it will all pan out but to suppose that there aren't people here who are already factionalised is naive.

NO SPLITTING! The WHOLE POINT of ARGs is cooperation in the community as a whole! All who are against the forming of teams, protest by posting any solves you can, ANYTHING you can, MAKE IT PUBLIC! The teams will have no advantage if we simply make public everything we can!

Okay here's the rub...
We all work together - great, I'm all for it, it's save us all a lot of money and be a hell of a lot more fun. This also means that it's highly likely that one of us will win a huge sum of money. Just for example, say it's me. I personally couldn't live with myself keeping the whole lot; I'd want to divide it up equally between everyone. But who exactly *is* everyone - does some person who joins in the dying days deserve a share just as much as people who have been there since the start? And how would people feel if someone from here did make of with the lot?

I may have gotten this segregation thing off the ground with my post a while back about thinking that teams had already developed. It was speculation that someone IM'd me with. I was quiet about it and told that person that I thought it was premature to assume division - but later I posted about it because it seemed like the Sentinel was hinting at 'teams', and I thought it was best to share that info.
People are free to do what they like, nothing new there, but I really wanted to say that I'm sorry if I speculated this in to becoming a row - I didn't mean to do THAT - I meant only to draw attention to the speculation itself becaus i thought it might be important to do so.

I thought about what I'd do with the money in the extremely unlikely event that I won it. While I would probably pay off some debts - I think I'd want to use the rest to fund another ARG

To be honest, this is probably the best idea: create a PM team and use the money to create an ARG. That way, everyone gets a piece of the pie, in a way.

This thread has been going at a frantic rate, so excuse me if this has already been said. If the puppetmasters behind Perplex City meant it to be played by individuals or small teams, why did they send out 333 parcels, each with a single unique character and number at the bottom of the form letter? It seems like people are /required/ to work together to piece together some sort of secret code. It seems awkward that everyone would have to work together in one instance, but then instantly splinter apart immediately thereafter.

Once you even start considering the prize and the collective then you have to go down the lines of a lottery syndicate and is that what we are all here for? I'm stoney broke and £100k would be an answer toa lot of problems for me but at the end of the day this is all just a distraction . I came to play the game. I know that sounds absurdly idealistic. A bit of a prize would be great but actually solving it to me woiuld be the most rewarding thing.
