The Coachella Mission [4.30.05]

w00t! Coacella, here we come... I just received this email.

Quote:
ok, you and your partner Kiyash are in....the 3rd and 4th of five. I haven't got to Coachella yet, taking a breather in LA.

Here's what I need from you:

Your areas of expertise. The truth, not some fancy spy nonsense. No matter what you might think, this is real life, not some made up computer game you and your friends play for fun. I've got some major problems and some of them may catch up to us at Coachella.

A picture so I'll know who I'm meeting Saturday night. 200,000+ people are gonna be there. I wanna be able to pick you out of a crowd. Email it back to me before Saturday

More coming as I figure it out.

I'm thinking about wearing my pink wig (http://www.avantgame.com/jane_i_love_bees.jpg) to be super-recognizable. Pink wigs are incognito at a music festival, right? I don't want to be so pink that I can't be sneaky though. What do you think?

Also, anyone want to help me brainstorm genres of possible useful skill sets and areas of expertise, based on what we expect to go down Saturday? So far, I've got:
-social engineering
-creating distractions
-recruiting large groups of strangers
-GPS anything (thanks to a certain payphone project...!)
-tele-operation and remote control (thanks to working in the Industrial Engineering Lab at Berkeley...)
-memorizing large amounts of information quickly

What else? I'm going to go review all the latest updates to try to figure out what I can do and know about that might be useful...

Also, who is planning to be awake and online when the mission goes down? It was originally listed as 11 PM - 3 AM PST... anyone feel like staying up all night with us? Smile

I am hoping I'll be able to stay awake. Normally it wouldn't be that big of a deal, but I'm debating on going to a Celtic Fair on Saturday that involves a 3 hour drive each way - but with enough tea and soda I think I can veg at the computer screen while this goes down. If I don't go to the Fair, I'll be a lot more active.

hitshermark, awesome that you are going, too! having personally seen your place storming skills in action I feel confident we will make outstanding partners in crime Smile

thanks for the wifi suggestion!
also, funny, after reading your skills, I think I will say you can DEFINITELY put me on roller skates! (in my former life, I was a long-distance in line skate racer!)

ground control

If you need help with people being around and on-line I will be here. But we need some West Coast people as well. What about all those people who live in places like Oregon and Washington? This is a good time to get them on-board here.

Anyone going to try to capture the webcast?
I think I'm going to be on a plane right about the time all this goes down.
I've got excellent timing.
