Selling it seems a bit cynical and goes against the ARG ethos.
I don't want it, plenty of people do. Where's the problem or the cynicism there?

At that price I am beginning to think I will sell mine!
Some people are really crazy! 52 pounds for 6 useless cards and a plastic pin ;..

And I didn't even get a pin . Surely that'll lessen the value. Not that I'd sell it at this point.

It's cynical because you got it for free, I could understand if you were only asking for the postage. Perplexcity in itself is a fascinating experience and it's the very co-operative nature of the game (this is NOT a game!) that makes it so appealing and accessible. But grabbing a freebie and then trying to sell it is very cynical.
Hannah, good luck to you but this package isn't worth that sort of money and I think you might regret spending that much.

Lay off the guy for selling it. It's the same thing as selling Pokemon or Yu-gi-oh cards. He was lucky enough to get a promo pack, decided he doesn't have to time to play, so wants to sell it. Its the same as if someone wins a car in a contest, already has a new one, so sells it for cash. Do you really expect them to give it to the runner up because they don't need it? Give me a break.
On the other hand, don't post a BS code Tito. Other people may be getting on your case unfairly, but if you lie/cast doubt on the validity of the code you gave, you're going to come off badly as well.
Hell, I'd sell my package if I thought I could get $50 for it. Shiny rings don't buy themselves :-p

Yeah - but I happened to be in the right place at the right time, for a change.
I don't think that you can say that just because something didn't have a price for me, that it doesn't have a monetary value to anyone else. All the evidence is to the contrary, in fact. I don't know what that value is at the moment, but I'll be interested to find out. Won't you?

I have a feeling this is only the first in a long line of ebay auctions this game is going to see.
Anyone remember when you didn't have to pay to play an ARG?
Those were the days...

The problem is that people will be exploited into paying over the odds for something that isn't worth it The competition analogy isn't the same, this is a community of people with a common interest, we work together, if we allow things like this to go unchecked then it makes it harder for genuine people to get access to such promotions. If there's money to be made then people will hijack the forum and the whole spirit of ARGing will be lost. The whole concept is about discovery and cooperation, such cynicism could destroy all of the fun....if you want to read the rest of my post sent a cheque for 50 lecks to chrome_halo, eastside, perplexcity....

I have a feeling you haven't seen anything yet. But it's already gone higher than I ever thought it would, so I think I'll donate anything over £50 to charity. Does the Red Cross work for you guys?

Exploited? Behave. All I've done is put it up for sale. How much people pay is up to them. And, as I've mentioned, I have the utmost respect for the game... but I'm not playing. In any case, there are people making a lot more than I am out of Perplex City. If anyone's exploiting anyone, it's them.

So what if he wants to sell it. That's his choice and not yours, you don't have to bid for it, nor do you have to buy it, it's all a choice. Everyone from this forum who bids for it knows exactly what's going to be in it, how is anyone getting exploited?
The reaction of a lot of people here could easily be transfered over to new players. Unforums is the real home of ARGs and the only real home of ARGs, it's our community and it's up to us how to play the game and we will decide the rules!!!111!1!! All players who do not play by our rules aren't allowed to play.
Bollix to that I say. You believe in a free world? This is what happens in the free world and you just have to put up with it.
This isn't me saying I won't work in this community and it isn't me saying I don't believe in the spirit of this community, I do and so do many more people. But one auction isn't the be all and end all. If people want to pay for it then that's fine by me. If people want to give them away for free, even better. But just because you wan't it a certain way, doesn't mean that it will be that way nor does it mean it should be that way.

Tito: What will you spend your money on? And fair play for the charity donation.
