[PUZZLE] Map pieces

No-one seems to have posted on this yet, so here goes:

I have been having a look at the maps on the reverse of the cards, and at the pieces of map that were in the tour guide, and have been able to join some of them together.

Here are the links to the wiki:

Reverse ofpage 074 map

Reverse of page 138 map

Reverse of page 170 map

Reverse of page 219 map

Tour guide pages

I have joined three sets of pieces as so:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
074 + 138 + front page middle row third from left

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
170 + front page top row second from left

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
219 + front page top row third from left and 9.30 am

Would someone let me know if there is a way to attach these so they dont show???

74 and 138 look like they match up but they don't. At least not perfectly.

Edit: though if you leave about a half inch gap between them, then they do.

I had considered putting together some sort of fictional Perplex City GIS, but I simply don't have the time.

If you included the following bits of information:

The Perplex City Tourism Information Centre Directions (wiki link)

The Perplex City Tourism Brochure Subway Map (wiki link)

You could have a pretty good framework for a larger map.

They do once you have the other piece, and you have to look very carefully at the top right of 138.

I was going to put the matches up, but I had a look at the preview of the post, and putting .jpg files up means that you can see the matches, so would totally spoil for anyone else. Do you know of a way of putting .jpg files up so they don't show??

Thanks

oh, go on. post it. i think it's alright. i am clever enough to not look at something if i dont wanna see it.

if it really bothers you, post it somewhere-else and place a link to that somewhere-else over here.

OK, here goes. You will just have to not look if you want to have a go.

I have reduced the cards to 3" and increased the others to fit. I have these as Corel files, which makes them moveable, if people want access to these happy to post them up as well.

Also, I don't think this is all of them, I'm sure there are more to find, but in the same order as the spoilers above:

ah-haa, yes i see now. good work.

that is a fFunny gap in piece#1, eh? i wonder if the cards are designed to have a little wiggle room, or maybe they were cropped a little in production? These are supposedly prototype cards, so the fFinal design may differ. this may be the sort of reason why they are prototypes.

The repetition of areas makes me think the completed map sections wont wind up being very large. no way to know that now, tho.

Here is what I have of an overall above ground map so far, you will need to look at it with the subway map (included to make it easier), I have marked the stations where we have more information or map pieces, along with a couple of guesses. There are also some spare pieces which I have not managed to locate. I can update this as people find things.

Not sure what we can do with it at this point, but nice work regardless.

Awesome Mima!!!
I suggest that Lang Stadium is near the planetarium. I think Games Plaza should be South of there, near the ocean.

Also, the card "The Master of Secrets" has a tree anomoly. No other picturs have trees growing right out of the sides of skyscrapers! Normal trees ARE hidden by buildings in the foreground . . .

POTUS, love the trees, I hadn't spotted that, I think it might be where Silk Road goes, looking closer there are also two buildings overlapping, and another on a roof!

I've obviously missed a bit of map somewhere because I don't have the bigger piece that you are using - can you tell me where it came from so I can add it all into the map.

Thanks

I don't have the cards, I have found where you got it from - the How Cards Work back, but only have low res. Can anyone do me a really high res scan of that part of the card?

The stadium is bigger than that, we can fit the piece from the tour guide onto it, and I wouldn't be surprised if I can't get some of the other pieces on as well, this piece is the back bone of the map, the central piece.

Thanks for your help.

Building on the roof eh? Well I hadn't seen that yet either! Now I'm seeing the whole area either an illusion of buildings painted incorrectly on purpose - or that moment of change when a video game easter egg makes itself visible in the resolution. I'm going with the former because P-town is full of puzzles Smile

This is a good scan except that there's a scratch over part of it.

If this is bad to share please tell me before I keep doing so.

Thanks Potus, from what I understand we are allowed to share close up's of particular areas no probs. I'm sure someone will let us know if not. I have managed to link this to a couple more of the tour guide shots:
