Well, rather than do what Mima has done and create an informative and useful map, I decided to just make up a grid and try to jam as many of the pieces we have into it as a kind of a jigsaw, without attempting to align them properly or anything like that.

In doing so, I noted a pattern emerging which should help anyone trying to connect the map pieces. The pieces seem to connect numerically in sets of four, and then going down columns in each colour from right to left. I have attached an image with a table of what I believe will be the final configuration of the map by card number, and also an image showing how the map pieces fit that configuration.

Notes -

I have not included Red or Orange cards in this because we are yet to see any with map pieces on the back. It is possible that these pieces all have instruction cards on the back, though if this is the case we will be missing a part of the Mobius Strip from the assembled map.

There is also at least one card that does not fit numerically (#74), but because this was part of the 333 set it may have been released with a different map piece on the back, since by my reasoning card #74 would be completely water.

Edit - replaced spreadsheet with image

What a brilliant find, I had started to notice a pattern, but had not got close to having worked it out - could I suggest that we carry on with yours as it is far better than mine - for a start it has all the pieces! Could you put a copy in the quick reference section. Thanks

Mima

Also, the catalog now automatically generates a map: http://perplexcitycardcatalog.com/mapgrid.html

Actually, I considered this to be something different to what you were doing, since the puzzle cards don't (or not that we've seen yet) contain a lot of the extra information on your map. I also haven't used any map pieces from anywhere other than the cards.

I think it would still be useful to have a map that highlighted key areas and listed useful information about them, maybe by dimming less important sections and putting information over the top about the more important parts or something.

Feel free to use any or all of my map to add to yours or as a basis for a new version if you want to. I will probably try to keep adding pieces to what I've done, though it looks like the card catalog will handle the basic arrangement for us anyway.

The software that I am using will only go so big, and I was starting to delete all the information in order to get the map bits on anyway. I think all the information is available in the wiki, so it would just be a duplication of work.

I'm going to gracefully retire from the map-making business! While I have been doing this I havn't been able to have a go a the cards, and I'm looking forward to that, but thanks for the vote of support.

Silver #240 cardback has the following text

Tanhill Botanic Gardens
Constructed from glass and steel in 81 AC in the Resurgence period, the Tanhill Botanic Gardens features plants and trees from across the world in three separate climatee-controlled (sic) wings. The Botanic Gardens are currently closed for renovation until late 269.

Here's a camera pic of the back of 217. I'll re-post when I get my scanner working.

The text pertains to the Radian Library:

"The principal library in the Old Town (with the exception of the Academy Library), the Radian Library has over six floors of shelves and reading rooms. The library is open to the public seven days a week and specialises in fiction and historical records."

[edit] removed image, to avoid confusion. New image is in next post.
