Weird gif

If you look at the source, there is a gif placed on the page (you can see it if you highlight the whole page - there's a small box under the text)

It's a tiny box the same colour as the background page which is an image called mbox.gif ...see it here

Anyone got any ideas as to why?? Maybe the size of it is relevant to something? Or of course it could just be a red herring (or trout Rolling Eyes ) designed to confuse feeble minded folk like me.

Addition: now that I've looked at the rest of the site, the gif appears at least once on each of the pages. Can't see any particular relevance myself as to how it's placed but that means nothing - probably won't even if there's a solve put up...

Still think it could be someone putting a bit of spare time into a trout though.

First site that comes up putting "mbox" into cluesearch.com is http://www.mbox.com.au/ - anyone bored enough to try some usernames & passwords in case it's of any use?

testing ingame cluesearch sites

i think a good way to test whether or not something is significant when returned by cluesearch is to punch the exact same search into www.google.com - if a cluesearch returns a different first page than google, then you have an ingame site and your search includes a "keyword". if you get the same sites from both cluesearch and google, you're just finding out-of-game sites.

a google search on "mbox" returns the site you mentioned, and therefore it's just coincidence. it's out-of-game.

incidentally, some differences will be noted if you don't use the "search for results only in english" option because of the way cluesearch submits google queries. if you click on that option near the top of the google page when you're comparing, you'll eliminate these apparent differences and come up with the same search. for an example, search "steg" and you'll see what i mean.
