But then you go to the main page of the Sentinel and find this topic on the right hand side:

Think Tailored for Spring

Generally, whenever a newspaper website posts a news article about what fashion is "in season", its before the season arrives and not during it or after it.

So? I dunno what season Perplex City is in right now, but I know for sure that our summer and their summer is the same because of Scarlett's birthday excerpt. ...and it seems like their spring is going to arrive after that

Considering this was the entire reason their seasons were queried in the first place I thought I might be able to help clear it up. I'm a fashion student so it was quite cool (in an amusing rather than condoning way) for me to notice that despite their advanced intellect they still care about what clothes are trendy! The fashion press (Vogue etc.) do report about fashion trends about 6 months in advance, due to the designer catwalk shows following this schedule (for complicated and boring industry reasons) This is usually followed by the women's/girls lifestyle mags (Closer/Bliss etc.) who pick up on the major trends just before the season so people can start buying things. But then you tend to get the mainstream press (daily newspapers, AOL front page) talking about it as it happens, during the season, half to explain to the general public why on earth so many people are wearing silly ponchos and half cos they probably have a slow news day and its something to talk about. I would place the Sentinel (which doesnt have a dedicated Fashion editor or section) in the last category. Couple this with the fact that fashion seasons, collections and their overall trends are grouped Spring/Summer and Autumn/Winter, then it would make sense that the Sentinel would be reporting on Spring fashions about nowish. It makes even more sense when you consider the horrible rain we've been having this week when its 'supposed' to be Spring and that English weather takes a fair bit of time to get out of Winter mode.
Sorry bout the long and probably uninteresting rant but since no one commented last time there was a Fashion mention in the Sentinel I'll take my opportunity to lend my knowledge here :)

rach =)

Heh, my girlfriend's doing a fashion course, although I think I scared her a bit with some rather loud shirts... Can you blame me - it was sunny for like 4 days straight! In Britain of all places!

<cough>

Yeah, I agree with rach that the seasons are the same as ours, the only other option would be for them to be out of sync to ours, or to have a hot season / rainy season system as equitorial countries have...

/me plunges the depths of his GCSE Geography...
