Zowie!
Category: print, 5:04PM
Oh wow, so suddenly I get about 50 million emails from all you guys! Amazing, I'm just so (blush) flattered, and excited to hear from you all. You've asked so many questions about the city, and about me and the cube... I just don't know where to start. Mission number two then: not only to keep up with the press, but also to try to answer some of your questions!
Hope you won't mind if I start with kind of an easy one A couple of people asked what Ascendancy Point is. Easy! It's the big spiky thing at the bottom of this page! Heh. Not just at the bottom of this page, though.... It's the tallest building in the city. It's ummm... (goes to look up info) apparently 1.3km tall, and is just amazing inside. Like, it's so huge that people say you could live for weeks without leaving it. (It'd be kinda weird to do that though )But they have all these great restaurants near the top - the sweet rolls at the Red Hot Bakery are just fantastic. Ooh, and the 125th floor is this foresty sort of garden. Sooo peaceful.
And, now I've made a start, today's bit of media! (Loads of those to get through too ). Here's a cool one.
We're hot! And the guys at MC say that we've had loads of sign-ups on that page, so I guess we must be!
EDIT - split from previous Scarlett Kite thread as it is an update. -SG

I probably missed this, but what's MC? Marmalejo College? What page can people sign up on? There's nothing at www.marmalejocollege.com.

I think "MC" is the same "MC" that was mentioned on the postcard, and the same "MC" that Dinah was delayed at (during the Abbey Road meet) - Mission Control, aka PM Headquarters

Thanks! Alright, so "loads of sign-ups on that page" must refer to perplexcity.com

The Ascendancy Point reminds me of the 'MegaMalls' in Spares , by Michael Marshall Smith. Megamalls were giant 'oblong' buildings, several hundred stories high. A complete living complex in themselves. Residential habitation; shopping areas; hotels; gardens and forests; everything contained inside.
Actually, does anyone remember the Arcologies from Sim City 2000?
Obviously the Ascendancy Point isn't oblong. Scarlett doesn't specifiy exactly what's inside (apart from restaurants and a forest garden), but I would say its a mixture of business and retail. A giant mecca to capitalism.

Wait, I might be wrong but 1.3 is really really high, I don't think our tallest building is sooo tall...is it? Well, if it isn't then taht definetly shows they've got better tech then us, engineering isn't a small field

the fFirst thing to come to my mind was this project i had in 6th grade. We had to build a city of our own design, either fFrom the past present or fFuture. I chose to build a moon colony, which had a museum/college/place-of-learning on one end, a housing complex on the other, and this really huge triangular building right in the middle. In many ways, my little 6th grade project reminds me of Perplex City. except my city had a giant dome around it.

nope. as i mentioned in another thread, the current record holder is just over 500 meters, and they are building one that will be 800, the highest in the world when its done.
and this is just the highest in the city, not the world. (the point)

I sent an email to the address on the card asking for information on djamnesia. I havent gotten an autoreply back so I'm thinking it may be a legit event. Has anyone tried the number listed on the Armagedden card?
Also, are the sites www.ukscene.info www.evolutionrecords.co.uk and www.vinylunited.com in-game?

Scaett began her new post on her blog with : Zowie!
What does that mean?
Here is what I found for definition on the net... it doesn't make sense for me...

zowie: What you say when you hit your thumb with a hammer really hard.
Example: Zowie! That hurt!
Can some native english speaker help me?

The sense she uses it in here could be relaced by 'wow' to convey a kind of pleasantly overwhelming surprise. Not a dictionary definition but a native speakers take on the sense of what she said. Hope this helps.
