[SOLVED] Sente's email riddle 4/22

I've searched and it wasn't there, but then again, the site keeps crashing due to volume, so delete if a double post!

Sente sent an email to us today, with this riddle:

Dear friends,

The people of Perplex City are grateful beyond measure for your patience over
recent months. Our cube retrieval project is now approaching its final phase
and thus I offer you, those who have kept loyalty with us, an early view of
things to come. Some of you may have heard rumours of this development in the
Sentinel newspaper (www.perplexcitysentinel.com) already but the full details
have not been revealed.

In a short while MC, on Earth, will be sending out parcels to thank you for
your patience. My daughter Scarlett (www.thescarlettkite.com) tells me that
you have shown deep interest in us and asked many penetrating questions; I
hope that these small tokens will go some way to slaking your curiosity. Our
Earth resources are sadly limited, so only 333 of these packs can be made
available. As you must already know, we place the highest value upon the
solving of puzzles -- thus, I have prepared a simple riddle. The first
333 people from Earth who correctly solve it will receive the parcel.

I wish you all swift wits and simple solutions.

Sente.

My first's simply a vegetable, delicious, round and green.
My third and fourth are sound asleep, as plainly can be seen.
My fifth is fifty, clear enough for any riddle-setter.
Two of my second on their sides will give my final letter.
Now that my second has my parts, fit them together well
You see me now before your eyes, it's plain for all to tell.

To enter your solution, visit http://www.perplexcity.com/email/ - you will
need your unique code and email addresss as well.

Probably too late

I only saw this email at 3pm so I doubt I will be one of the 333 people who will get the package Sad

I've been busy with work, so I wasn't paying attention to my e-mail. Solved it quick enough though--hopefully I'll get something in the mail. ^_^

Well, I figured it out (wasn't too hard), but I doubt I'll be one of the 333 people, seeing as I didn't see my e-mail until 5 hours after it was sent.

Funny as it was 5:48 pm when you posted and about 3.20 when the emails were sent out. 5 hours?? more like 2 1/2

This was kind of like Fastest Finger First on WWTBAM - am slightly aghast (nice word, quite expressive, not used often enough) that the puzzle was sooooooo easy - especially after all the Futures hair-rending!

While I'd be surprised to find out I was the first here to solve (I'm quite sure I wasn't...) Can I just take a moment here and say that's the first time, I think EVER that I've been the first to post a solve to a puzzle? (Mind you, I know it wasn't like a crazy semacode thing or something, but still...) Please allow me this one moment to feel proud, and then I'll be another schlub again... honest!

Confused Mad Shocked Shocked Silly Smile Very Happy Mr. Green Cool
(my progression upon seeing the riddle)
Ok... I'm done. Thanks!
Embarassed

Jackie-B, in response to your question, gmail says it was sent at 6:07amCST, but I didn't get it until 9:58amCST. Hope that helps.

EDIT: Ok, so I'm TOTALLY not the first to solve, but I still think I was first to post a solve, so I'll tuck that under my pillow tonight and smile myself to sleep. And then tomorrow, I will regain humility when there's an equally difficult puzzle that I fail to grasp (like normal) Rolling Eyes

Only just checked my email and solved the Riddle quickly. Problem is my housemate sent a reply before I did and we both used the same address (DOH) Hope we don't get disqualified. Sad

Dorkmaster: Is it possible to edit the topic name so you can tag it solved? If not... then woe be to the mod who doesn't do it for you!! Mad
