Lost - The Cube

Staring bid is £1.99 with p&p only £0.99
PC Coaster Auction
Some people are beginning to try to make money with derivative products? Or is that the PM beginning merchandising?
edit : it seems that the seller has a long history of selling that type of products. He is probably trying to make money out of the licence. I wonder if he has payed royalties...

I think he has taken the pic that is online, and handed it over to a coaster manufacturer or something, because the ministry of sound coaster is exactly the same material and everything except for the image...

if he's taken the pic from an online image i wouldnt expect the print quality to be that great on it... all seems a bit silly really, why coasters?

Obviously trying to cash in on the "cube" shape, and the hype... If you wanna be a thief, do it the old fashioned way, with cafepress... (I in no way advocate that, BTW... I'm what the kids say... "joking")
But for real... let's NOT let this work... Let the guy sell one to the person who already bid, and let it die. You can make your own coaster if you need it that badly. (and not sell it.)
I say, if you want a coaster, ask adrian nicely, and I can't imagine he would say "NO, you cannot make something with our images for your own personal use in the quantity of one." He's gotta be strict of course, but he's not a hoarder (as far as I can tell). Not to mention, asking is the surefire way to ensure that down the line you don't get sued. (Which he and Mind Candy would be in full right to do down the line.)

Well done! It's not very nice and you'd have to have a set of at least four for it to be much use. I think that clear melamine stuff would scratch after some use with your average tea mug and you wouldn't be able to see the picture anymore. I have a solution...make your own with the stickers from the pack, some stiff card and sticky back plastic. Using this method it is also possible to make, earrings, or perhaps a hat. How about a natty (don't use that word very often, maybe Violet would like it?) holder for your puzzle cards.
I suspect MC will already know about this. Can't believe Fi

is moderating other bits and not sneaking a peak here anymore! It's still more publicity for them. I suspect if he becomes a serial offender they might send a rude letter.

I used to work in promotional merchandise and just from looking at the photo I can see that it's not an official product:
it's made one of two ways-
either it's a hard laminated printout of a pic which he's flogging as a "coaster" (bigger versions are often sold as "placemats", even though they're clearly just laminated pics)
or it's made using a kit of hard plastic coasters which you can insert a pic into- similar to those keyring things which you can pop out the cover and put a pic in them. So it's not worth a bean.

Probably exploit their factory workers too.
And what an ugly colour.
And right - what good is one coaster?
(Wait - what if it was Sente's coaster?)
No - to hell with them!

Hi
Two more - they have now got rid of the MC based image and replaced that with two different images - possibly with other copyright problems.

Wow, that's... incredibly low quality money-mongering.
