Mind you, bearing in mind that Stella Artois will want to generate some real money out of all this, maybe ALL of the positions and values are going to appear at some sort of Stella event like the "Butterfly=172 clue we've already seen did.

Maybe we should all be buying more Stella and seeing if the cans or bottles have any sneaky clues on them. I bought a pint of it last night in the pub to see if the barmaid winked at me and gave me the answer or something, but she didn't. You win this round, Stella.

I think that if anyone can go to these after dark events it would be helpful. If another flyer with a clue on it turns up, it might either establish a pattern, or demonstrate that there isn't one,and then we'd just have to keep looking for the answer scattered around Stella's advertising.

Is this unusually long for an ARG? The article that brought me here said they don't usually last more than a couple of months.

Yes, this ARG is very very unusually long. Mainly because there are two month pauses in the game where nothing happens.

very looooooooooong

and there's a rather big prize at stake so stella want to get muchas recognition out of the game rather than a quick solve!!

I'm going to call the Manchester after dark hosts and see if there are any flyers left or seen??!! Rolling Eyes

hopefully we can keep this momentum going...

hmmm.....the chap I spoke to in Manchester didn't have a clue what I was talking about and I tried so hard to make sense!

I asked if there was any publicity material left from the After Dark event and he said stella bought it all with them and they took it all away.....

typical Bang Head

.

math is wrong.

Bidvision wrote:
Following that theory, if 17 = 0.382, then the other values (rounded to whole numbers) would be

Square 1 (biggest) = 45
Square 2 = 30
Square 3 (butterfly) = 17
Square 4 = 11
Square 5 = 6
Square 6 = 4
Square 7 (smallest, the star) = 4

the e value isnt exactly 0.618, Its got a LOT more numbers after it.
The actual values assuming value 3 equals 17 is as shown.

1 = 44
2 = 27
3 = 17
4 = 10
5 = 7
6= 3 Hense 3... 7 + 3 = 10, + 7 = 17, + 10 = 27, + 17 = 44

Course. then how do we come to 3 and 7... would put the previous value
at 4. ... it really doesnt fit well.
I tried those values with the HWAU order, no dice.
Optionally it might be the whole tribanocci thing mentioned.
but then the values are different. And id have to do some complicated
math to figure out what the values would be.
More like x + y + z = 17 and then x1 + x + y = z etc etc. and its not easy.
Ill tinker with the math but maybe somone has a nice formula to figure
out those values.

honestly. I dont think our values will be fibanocci, I think we have other clues that will lead us to what each value will be. Perhaps there are clues
in game, perhaps they are all intended to be handed out at events.

The whole 17 butterflys and that being the number we are after seems
coincidental. but then again thcrc are clues everywhere. ...
Ive looked around and i cant find many snakes, tridents, fire, etc.
butterflys seem to be one of the few numbers of items we see on the sites.
Course we could try to think out values associated with our 'signs'

Cerberus, 3 headed dog, that kind of thing.
Then again Trident. 3 hooked spear. : / grasping at straws.
That being said, the good news... tacking down one value
leaves us with only 9,509,900,499 possibilities for our numbers sequence.
=D ... if we tack down another its down to 96,059,601
sigh brute force is definitely out. Lets hope clues turn up.

Odd

Donnied i hate to ask this. but could you rescan that flier and give me maybe a higher dpi version of that image? Im curious about the flier. wondering if the image is just fuzzy or if there is something odd about the consistancy of the flier.

There are dots that appear exactly the same on the front and back. If i could get a more detailed image i could perhaps figure out what those dots are. Its just a hunch. Seems kinda wierd that the image is so consistant for being scanned how did you do that?

Oddity

I hate to even bring this up. But i believe Donnied is a PM.
I hope im completely wrong.

I believe this because of the images he scanned for us.
They appear to be constructed images.
Besides the "Advertising solutions to meet your needs Hornchurch star"
and the "17 <Butterfly>"

If you download those images and look at the background grid. The two images are identical ... pixel for pixel.

Scanned images NEVER do this. even in a seriously high tech scanner.
human error, the paper loader. You get some variance. if only a pixel here and there. These images are exactly the same besides the text. That made me wonder. Why would a troll do this. ... get us to go to afterdark events?
ok why? ... stella would want this. but not a wierdo troll.

I suggest that even if this clue holds merit. its only cause donnied fed us a clue and is working for them.

....
And maybe im just paranoid. Give the pics a look and let me know what you think.

Are you referring to the black spots that were mentioned earlier? I wondered whether that could be down to marks on the glass of his scanner.

But if you mean that the grids are identical throughout. then you would have to be right about this being the work of either a troll or a PM. Trouble is, we don't know which one.

If there are millions of people out there who think it's fun to disrupt message boards by trolling, there must be at least one or two who would get a kick out of producing fake clues for an ARG. Imagine their joy as they watch us all pondering the clues, stroking our chins and trying to find meaning in what they've done. They would laugh their heads off.

THe same goes for the Flickr photos, there seems to be no reason to trust them as being ingame either. I am suspicious of the replies from "Brigid" referring to Jon trying to find an Aleph. THe "aleph meets star" thing was earlier on in the game, so maybe tey are just the work of a troll who didn't try very hard to see where we were up to.

This whole game is just getting annoying now. At least the closing date is getting closer, so we should know what's ingame and what isn't before too long.

hand stamp

Has anyone else been to any of the Afterdark events and if so, what kind of hand stamp was used?

Donnied said in the first post of this thread that the stamp was a butterfly at the event he attended.

"However, it was the same butterfly print that all our hands were stamped with when we got in."
