This is one of those in game/out of game things isn't it?

From what I can make out, Perplex City is the ARG that is the primary marketing tool for Mind Candy. With all the press coverage, especially tonights TV appearance, the site is up just in time for curious peeps to find out about how they can use ARG's to promote their own products/services. This will be like a monopoly really as there aren't too many companies offering this kind of service. Therefore Perplex City is a good example for potential customers of Mind Candy, plus the puzzle cards will be a good form of revenue to get them off to a good start financially. It's all starting to make sense.

Now if we could just figure out where the Cube is "buried", then the in game stuff would start to make sense too!

I also expect to see other ARG creators, almost definitely including the ones behind Art of the Heist, coming forward in the near future with public sites and businesses. Right now, though, competition - at least open competition - is, indeed, scarce.

I agree. I think that ARGs will be soon be the next video game. Starting out with people in their basements, to a huge corporate war. Who cares though, as long as they make good games I'll be happy.

Not quite a monopoly...they know that a number of people here could do something similar with the right backing, they've fertilised their own competition...it'd take a while though, and they're certainly market leaders!

Fiona Silk will be Fi.

If you read this Fi, hope you're having a good time! I saw Adrian reading Unfiction on his threescreen megaPC. Adrian, if you read this, give Fi a nod. Smile

so, any of these gals dina?

also, from firebox

We've been informed by Sente that the cards will be made available through nine stores in nine different cities around the world sometime in June 2005. It is our understanding that Firebox will receive stock at or around this time as well. Sente expresses his sincere apologies for this extended delay but assures us that every effort is being taken in Perplex City to expedite production

ummm...

theyre shipping them here from perplex city? how?

as the PPC lot still maintain that they cant transport physical iteams i guess the in game explanation would be thus. production doesnt just mean the actual manufacture of the cards, as far as i can see ppl on the PPC side, namely members of the special projects team are largely responsible for the design and conception of the puzzle cards, from the actual puzzle on each card to the artwork and the overall structure of the card system/'game' including this leaderboard thing. all this can be shipped over their fancy trans dimensional interweb thingy to mind candy who would then arrange all the boring bits, printing, distribution, marketing etc. mind candy ppl might be invited to do some bits on the cards but i dont think they are supposed to be creating them as such.

rach =) (has to keep reminding herself this isnt real...)
