[HUMOR] Smirkbox Winnipeg Mission OMG - I can't believe it. Nisha went to Winnipeg for a mission and we didn't know about it.
Either that or jamesi has been smoking some really strange pot up there in Canada.
Anyway, there is a write up about the mission over at smirkbox - complete with a zip that you can download .
Alas, once again I'm not clever enough to figure out the password to an encrypted file.
Edit: Though it's not from lack of trying.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
I've pretty much figured out the message the files are getting across, but damned if I still can't figure out the password.
dmlyYWw=.txt
The name is a base64 encoding of 'viral'
If you rename the extension to .html and open it, it's a picture of Ralphie from A Christmas Story (in the same style as the i will maiden). If you pull the binary out of it, it spells out 'drinkyourovaltine' over and over.
math.doc
If you solve the math problems, and then substitute in letters for the answers, once again you get 'drinkyourovaltine'
obkte.jpg
The name is a ROT-7 of 'viral'
If you do a google image search of 'ovaltine' and 'drink' you'll find the two pictures
The bad thing is - drinkyourovaltine just doesn't work as a password. How sad.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
How about "Little Orphan Annie" or "that bitch"?
Which is what he said when he finished decoding the message.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
and for the recored it's really "be sure to drink your ovaltine".

It seems like it might have more to do with an error in the compression. Instead of a 'wrong password' error, I keep getting this using WinZip
Quote:
Use Path: yes Overlay Files: yes
skipping: sb.jpg unsupported compression method 99
error: no files were found - nothing to do
However, if I try to get the files out of an SD card I get
Quote:
Use Path: yes Overlay Files: yes
skipping quarteroffour.doc -- the password is incorrect
I think jamesi stole a bum disk.

[solved] zip encryption solved zip encryption solved.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
christmasstory
It seems most winzip's won't open it either.
I've got winzip 9.0.
rowan's 8.0 and catherwood's 7.0 just gave compression errors.
My guess is that it was encrypted with an AES encryption that is included in winzip 9.0
I've uploaded the file here, so you don't have to download winzip 9.0.

You fools! You've been punk'd! Muahahahahahaaaaaaaa!
OK, seriously though... that was a *fun* article to write. Thanks for taking part in my little joke.
(and yes, it was WinZip 9.0 at 128 bit AES encryption. Sorry, but I figured with enough people out there, someone would have the rigtht program. Leave it to sapagoo to save the day again.)

Punk this, pal. I may never visit smirkbox again now that I've learned you won't be serving pastry anymore.

However, I do need a good, stiff drink today.
