We're titling this as a rumor, but even so, sources have revealed to Game Informer Online that there will be a Halo 3 demo released over Xbox Live in the first half of 2007. Obviously Microsoft hasn't revealed any details yet, but we wouldn't be too surprised if something was dropped in the second or third week of November. You know, just to mess a bit with the PlayStation 3 and Wii launches.
We contacted Microsoft to confirm this rumor, but they responded with the usual statement that Microsoft doesn't comment about speculation or rumors.
Is it shocking that Microsoft would release a Halo 3 demo? Not so much. Is it surprising that they'd announce the first details to mess with Sony and Nintendo? Not at all.
The big question is, will the Halo 3 demo be the first demo that Microsoft will charge for? We're also putting our money on that, too. If there's one game that Xbox 360 owners are waiting for it's Halo 3, and regardless of how much or how little the demo consists of, Microsoft could charge and no one would really care.
Before all you Captain Obvious's out there start flaming, it's clearly stated that this is a rumor. I am simply sharing for the sake of discussion.

I just hope that if M$ puts up a demo that they increase their servers and bandwidth: we don't want another E3 on our hands now do we. Personally, I'd like to be able to download a small video file from the Marketplace when this is happening in less then an hour.

I assume that after the commercial tonight this site will be updated and you'll be able to register for the BETA.

Sweet, unfortunately it doesn't seem to like Firefox, Internet Explorer seems to work fine though.

My firefox doesn't seem to recognize Flash, but the link to go to the flash site returns a 404 - that's a webmaster bad.
Hopefully when it goes live they'll have covered those little bugs.

Signed both my brother and me up for the beta (crosses fingers!!). It took about 15 tries due to timeouts and 404 errors (I kept thinking of ILB) .
The link for the beta signup is www.halo3.com.
Also there is a new Halo 3 trailer. It is completely cgi with some live action at the beginning. It's awesome.

Good luck everyone. Hope to see you all playing Halo 3 in the spring.

Yes the trailer is awesome. I like the speed and aggressiveness MC.
one of the keywords in Halo3.com is myth ... are we in for a surprise tying the 2 universes together?

For those who want to download the video and dissect it...
1280 X 720 HD Version <-- Right Click to Save
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
See if you can pick out Cortana's Voice in the Trailer....
You can clearly see the Brute standing in the middle of the formation, but are the figures standing around him Brutes? They look like they are wearing armor, and don't look nearly as tall as the Brute. Perhaps a new Covenant species?
I am guessing that the X button will deploy the cocoon shield generator.(Why are people calling it a gernade? Besides it's resemblance, gernades are meant for offense, and this is clearly defensive) Though X could also be used for Sprinting as has been rumored. Any other theories?

well I think people are calling it a 'grenade' because it appeared as though he activated it and threw it to the ground. I'm thinking they might be something we can pick up in the game and use when necessary... perhaps something similar to the Hammer of Dawn in Gears?
But it doesn't appear that the shield is a part of MC's armor at all...
what a trailer it is...

I just found a Q&A with Frankie over on HBO . It answers some questions.
Apparently it's called a "Bubble Shield". How creative.
