The purpose of the game was to help them recover a valuable object, the Receda Cube, which had been stolen from Perplex City and buried at an unknown location on Earth.

"And today on Working Lunch, we see a massive leap in the share-price of shovels. City financial analyst Mr Receda had this to say:

'BUY IN SHOVELS, BUY, BUY, BUY SHOVELS, MORE SHOVELS, BUY 'EM ALL, NOW.'

More on these developments later."

Am struggling to see why someone would want to steal this object of 'immeasurable importance' just to bury it on earth!

I'd say it changes the spin from "stealing it for their own nefarious purposes" to "stealing it so that those Perplexians don't have it any more." Or, perhaps, stealing it for use at a later date.

Or they've invested heavily in a metal detector company. Deeevious! (Not that the Cube is made of metal, mind you.)

Or in a small, ground breaking company specialising in XME and ARG!
