How does one become a Puzzlemaster's Minion?

You might not have seen me on the boards all that much, but I was introduced to Alternate Reality Gaming through ILB, and have since managed to become thoroughly addicted.

Anyway, when I'm not losing sleep over puzzles, I'm studying acting at a performing arts school in New Zealand. I was thinking about ILB the other day, and how this is like a new form of theatre, when it struck me that I would love to experience an ARG from an acting perspective.

So, in short: Who and what would you need to know in order to play an in-game character?

A good start would be to post your skills in the PM recruitment thread. Smile

I don't think this is trout really.

To get yourself some work as a voice actor, doing RL events, or just playing a character who interacts by email or IM systems (word of advice - only agree to the latter if you have an abundance of time!) I reckon you should:

- Get yourself a portfolio, showing what you've done - your best pieces of work, latest performances and so on, as well as some references from people you've worked with, or your college tutors.

- Approach PMs directly (a bit of digging around here should let you know who the main ones are), and most of them will at least make the time to give you some advice and comments, even if they don't require your skills.

- Post in the recruitment thread like Varin suggested Wink

- Make contacts, come onto IRC to chat and begin to build relationships with lots of people. I hate to say it, but in this game contacts will get you everywhere!

Hope that helps a bit!

Fi
