Funny that's how I feel... I was there I promise, but after looking at every ones photos I seem to have stayed out of every shot. I mean my buddy that was with me didn't even manage to sneak one in.

As for the ARG Fest is concerned. I had an amazing time. Sadly I did miss out on most of the talks and Fest quest, as I had been called away on business.

I want to personally thank Rose and Chippy for making me feel so welcome while I was there. The only concern I had all weekend was that Rose, in her desire to make sure that everyone else was attended to; that she would fail to have fun herself. However, I suspect she was able to find ways to have her fun. Laughing

Thanks again to the rest of you that I meet and others I may have missed, and to all the others that put the weekend together.

Favorite quote of the weekend:

"Uh, what game does the "E" on the M&M's represent?"

......long pause....

"Um, their M&M's dear."

"Waitress I think she needs one last lemon drop!"

although I must admit that celina and I made a game friday morning of picking out the ARGfesters as they walked into the cafe.

wraith has some preternatural ability at identifying ARGFesters vs. non-ARGFesters, he was spot on every time. Not that they didn't stand out, mind, with the confused look on their faces, looking around for kloos....but even still, wraith is a Human ARGFester Divining Rod.

I was standing in the hotel lobby in front of the coffee shop talking to RobMagus (who was, as always, in his assigned seat, btw). I looked inside and saw two people who I just knew had to be ARGers. "I think that might be Mr. and Mrs. Jamesi" I said, so I pointed at them and waved trying to get their attention. The guy just stared at me like I was an extra special kind of idiot while the lady looked off into the distance. Imagine my embarrassment. Embarassed

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Turns out it was Addle and Mr. Pated. I didn't realize it until I met them at the mixer. Laughing

I don't think I even realized they were M&Ms until you pointed out that it was an M, not an E Razz

highlights
  • well, just being there Smile
  • The Mind Candy presentation, and meeting Adrian, Andrea, Michael, Fi, etc.
  • the fun swag envelopes
  • actually getting to go to ToyTokyo and pick up some cards - no more will I be harassing my friends in NY ("but it's the only store this side of the Mississippi! what do you mean you work in Queens?")
  • walking around New York City on a secret mission.
  • lemondrops and aliendial's M&Ms Wink
  • meeting new people, making some new friends
  • the lovely weather
.

low-ish lights
  • my train arriving 5 hours late, so I missed the party Friday night
  • the bomb scare at Penn station Sunday, so my train left 1.5 hours late.
  • not getting to socialize more. I don't feel like I really got to know enough of you!
  • wearing high-heeled boots Saturday. The Brooklyn Bridge was nearly my undoing Wink

Special thanks to:

THX and Travis, for staying up to find me on the streets of NYC at 5 AM Sat. morning and direct me to our room, and for being excellent roommates.

jasonnyc, for giving me his subway card when I lost mine in the course of the quest game.

the whole yellow team (see Kona's pics) - I salute our optimism Smile

j5, for being a great conversationalist

rose, diandra, bagsbee, and the rest of the ARGfest crew - you made it the experience fabulous!

pre-fest list

A pre-fest picture list would be very helpful. I also could have benefitted from knowing everyone's real name! Trying to leave the packets at the hotel lobby under names like THX or xnbomb just doesn't work. Plus people who were sharing rooms reserved under one name so figuring out whose name it was under was a bit difficult.

Also, we need a more accurate registration thing. Fluffy was on the wiki but somehow I missed having a packet for her.

Actually, I would banish all packets having individual names!!! They are too much trouble. I would just have a registration table where people get a packet and nametags on lanyards.

Do we still want to have a post-fest chat to go over these points and others? I am willing to do that as soon as bagsbee and joe are ok with it..

Is your little subliminal message a hint as to where you want the next ARGFest to occur? Very Happy

hehe, the woman at the check-in desk was a little perturbed when she couldn't find my name on a reservation and I could only remember celina's first name.

T-shirts from ARGFest- Get your souvenirs now.

Ok - here is a one time offer. If anyone wants a T-shirt, PM me here with:
1. your size
2. your address
3. your email
before this Wednesday. I will get the shirts from bagsbee on Thursday and mail them out.

We may be out of XL and we don't have XXL but we decided not to order those until we can at least clear what we have invested in the other sizes. We are close to reaching that goal. Having them printed will take a day or so to make.

If you want XL or XXL you can PM me as well so I will know how many to order. Even if you already placed an order request, please remind me.

As for payment - I now have paypal through email - which, yes, I did set up ALL BY MYSELF --so I can email you and you can send the money. How cool is that.

The shirts are $12 - I am not sure what to charge for mailing - I guess that depends on where you live -US or overseas. But they are very light so it isn't that much. I am checking with the post office about costs. If we get enough orders to cover our investment, I would be happy to just charge a flat $12.

This is a one-time offer. I loved ARGFest but this Friday is my absolute deadline for clearing up all the loose-ends.

One more note, we are going to organize some New York meet-ups for card swapping starting in September - unless joebrent lifts his nop lanning ban before then. If you are local, we may be able to have some T-shirts at these events. One of these events may coincide with a meeting of the local IGDA chapter -which includes the guys behind PACmanhattan, and other NYC game people.
