Grrr.... this article in the Sentinel is just ridiculous. I can't believe that the Reconstructionists are so completely above the law as for the police to be worried about even going to interview them. I hate to use the word "incompetent" but honestly they're treating the Recons with such kid gloves now, it's absurd. I know, they've probably got a million lawsuits pending after the Recon8 business, but still. I bet I could get in there and talk to this Holyoke woman. I've been to Recon compounds before - there was a whole push about 4 or 5 years back to get "young people with an interest in the Academy" to attend Recon presentations. I think they were going on the get 'em young theory, the idea being that if they convinced us of the rightness of their cause, and someday we were in charge of the Academy... Anyway, we had to sit in an overly-warm lecture theatre while three people in robes talked to us for half an hour about "the mystery of the cube" and its "unjust imprisonment". Yawn. Other than that, it was just a pleasant stroll round their farmlands and a bit of discussion of meditation. They're really not threatening, it's just the isolation that makes it seem that way. Seriously, I bet I could call right now and get in, just on the basis of having been on that tour. It would be good to find out what was really going on in that bar, as well.

Woooo - I got to post something first for a change Very Happy

EDIT: anyone else get the feeling that Violet is gonna get in waaaay over her head in no time at all? At least she knows some handy-dandy escape routes through the catacombs....

Well go on then Violet! Solve the murder case and find the cube while you're at it. Should you be killed for getting too close to the truth, I'm sure we could arrange a nice funeral for you, we'll bury you with the cube when we find it.

I think Sente's going to need an undercover agent in the recons, Violet would be perfect. Expendable and all. She could have at least told us some useful information on them.

This definitley makes the Reconstructionists look more and more like a particularly extreme form of evangelical Christian group from our world, with perhaps a drop of a Scientologist trend towards litigation. (many private investigators and even police won't go anywhere near those guys, they can tie you up in lawsuits for years). If that's indeed what the government has on it's hands, and if they have the 'freedom of religon' precedents that most democratic countries posess, than I can definitly sympathise with them.

Poor Violet... Being Sente's daughter, she's going to get her brain scrubbed but good.

Can you imagine what kind of coo it would be for the Recons?

Just had a thought - 'there was a whole push about 4 or 5 years back to get "young people with an interest in the Academy" to attend Recon presentations' - what if the Recons were planning on planting a mole in the Academy way back then? They find someone who's capable of getting a place in the Academy (and who's a little less cynical than Violet), train them up and brainwash them for a couple of years, then use them as your inside contact. Perhaps that's what the deal is with Jessica Holyoke/Kostka - they needed to use her husband's bar as part of their plan and the best way to implicate him was to use his ex wife to trick him.

Given the ages of the puzzle card team, if there was a mole (and this is pure spec) It's entirely possible that it could be one of them, trying to get us to find the cube so that they could take it. Or I could be paranoid Screwy .

FACTS-

Violet was at the Five of Cups 18 months ago.

Her friend Arman told her she could get a good game of poker there.

The Cube was stolen around 18 months ago.

The Recons made a drive for Acedemy recruits 4 to 5 years ago.

Violet mentions knowing about an entrance to the catacombs below "official Academy residence".

They have the technology for a neuro supression device.

SPEC ahead-

Violets buddy Arman was inducted into the Recon ranks to act as a mole to gather info on the Cube and the Academy.

While they could steal the equipment they needed to do the crime they sill needed both proper directions and possibly codes/keys/DNA etc to gain access from the catacombs through the official Academy residence.

They gained this from Violet and erased her memory - possibly using neuro suppression-type device - albeit to a lesser extent then what was used to murder Fran Mendling.

As to how it got to Earth and where it went???

very nice toongoon

it would explain Violet's inability to remember much about that night....

i definitely agree that violet will either get killed or kidnapped.... or maybe she'll end up on earth by inadvertently hiding in the recon's earth transportation machine when she's investigating
