[SPEC]

[SPEC] Trout me if this was already said somewhere but what if KJIC is a cheat code for a game in perplex city?( A recent article in the Sentinel reveal that perplexians do have videogames.) The card doesn't specify that the 'famous' cheats are all from earth games. If this were the case then who would be the best person to ask?

Anyone noticed the slight colour change of the writing? In #10, the 'POK' of 'POKE' is fainter/greyer than the rest, and in #9 'Origin' is fainter apart from the very top of the 'O' and the dots for the 'i's.

I think we can assume this is not a printing inconsistency.

Good catch! I'm guessing one of those partial greyed letters is there, like at the top of this card. How in the world we could figure out what it is, because the background is black, is beyond me. Unless we just wait until we have all the cards and fill in the missing character(s)? Confused

Ahh! Mystery solved, thanks to thebruce's visual. The grayed numbers and partial words in the bottom left corner, that ParityBit first asked about, is the top right quarter of an 'E'! Wink

There's also, apparently, the top left quarter of an 'H' in the bottom right corner of this card. Shocked

Aha! That, of course, makes perfect sense. I should have considered that possibility as there are two obvious partial letters at the top left and top right of the card, and then the rest of the card body is black.

Nice one. Smile

KJIC?

Probably completely unrelated; but in the firebox catalogue P21 there is a message on the bottom right of the page which refers you to page 14. On Page 14 there are several retro game pads. I thought one of these games (probably more likely the arcade ones) might accept the cheat KJIC on the high scores table or something?

Or have I watched beautiful mind once too many times? Confused Just a thought!

on the perplex city website, when you try to solve this card, it says that 7 should be "LFCK". dramatically changes everything, doesn't it?

I tried both
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Out of this World and Another World,
but it didn't work. Then again, perhaps something else was wrong.

A third game listing this code is

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Heart of the Alien

which also doesn't work. Which makes me think that perhaps I didn't enter one of the others correctly...

These are the answers I've been playing with:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
1. K-1: The Arena Fighters
2. Can't find this one *anywhere*!
3. SimCity
4. Doom, (or Doom 3)
5. The Sims
6. Super Mario Kart, or Pilotwings
7. Out of this World 2: Heart of the Alien, or Another World (KJIC should be LFCK)
8. Tomb Raider, or Air Combat
9. Wing Commander, or Wing Commander II
10. Jet Set Willy

... among others that have been posted in this thread, but these are ones I researched myself. A lot of good it does me, when there are 2 or 3 names possible for some of them. How the heck did some people get all of these right?!? Shocked

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Street Fighter 2 for the Genesis. Info here
