Re: layer13 & 14

Also, there's a question of "WOR" in the lower right hand corner that shares a "D" with a neighbor. Do those three get crossed out or included in remaining letters?

Whatever way you look at it, they get crossed out IMHO: either as "Word" sharing a D or as "row" spelt backwards.

Additionally, since layer 13/14 and 20 all use "W", this kills the above theory of ordering layers via common letter(rot-#).
Also, Layer 14, letter "W" indicates rot-22, but keyword "LASTRESORT" appears on rot-5. This is the biggest discrepency.

Nevertheless, the repetition of a single character is very noticeable and perhaps it does not serve for ordering purposes (which would also have been my first guess) but as a ROT key (backwards or forwards) with one (or two) last (and essential) keywords appearing vertically if you drill down through the layers?
Whatever the solution might be, it is indeed an evil puzzle ...

Another thing I just noticed, I don't know if it has already been mentioned, is that keywords that are "hidden"/ROTed also appear in the ROT-0 version of the cube, the original, e.g. "nisha" (not nisha chronicles, there is another, single occurence), "emile", "misery", "downfall", "conspiratoria", "yabai" etc.
I haven't checked them all, but perhaps this can be used as an ordering mechanism, an ouroboros linking the sheets: page with cleartext -> page with same chiphered cleartext-> new cleartext there-> new page with ciphered cleartext etc. ?
But I haven't yet checked if this can be done. Or, if this doesn't lead anywhere, then it might be interesting to see if there are words that are truly unique, that only appear ciphered but not in cleartext.
Regarding the ouroboros, I found it odd that Virgil mentions "212" when discussing him in his rant, which is yet another ouroboros. Rabelais is also the common word on sheet 6. Hmmm, "after six the beginning" (of the ouroboros-like stacking of pages?)? But then, what does "sideways start at three mean"?
edit: I just found examples of a ciphered keyword that can't be found in the normal version, "imposter", "lastresort", "kingofcode" (haven't checked everything). Hmmm, there goes my theory of ordering the pages this way. Or perhaps the ouroboros consists simply of a subset of the 20 pages? Then, one would have to find a true circle/ouroboros linking plain an ciphered keywords through some pages.
Alternatively, the keywords that only appear encrypted might have a special meaning, as said above ...

Sheet #18.
D, I left over for sure, probably another I because I think it's "PLAYERKILLER" rather than "IPLAYERKILLER," but ?
Also, the E above the middle I is part of OPEN that is sort of convoluted but I figured okay.

Here's #20.
Letters are G, C, G, B. However, the second G could be part of SONG, but I left it so it could be spotted later in case it's not.

You missed a remaining "B" @ row9,col11.
Also, CONSPIRATORIA @ (5,Cool wasn't highlighted (adds no new letters).
Your "OT" belongs to the misspelled nietszche.

Also, dunno if we want to include "march", excluding would give us [A,R,H] extra.

wiki link

To make this easier, can a moderator post the wiki page link and a link to xnbombs images and helpers word files in the front of this thread? That way people aren't recreating the wheel.

thanks Smile

Here's #19.
Letters are S, O, A, I. I'm not so sure about the A - but it looks like PRIAPA isn't a word. Also the I seems a little weird because it's by that clump of PAIRs but just doesn't match.

did anyone do layer 1?

Here is mine, I haven't seen this one solved anywhere... but look it over please. I know I have too many left over... and I keep transposing letters from bole to make lobe ....anyway, the one thing I noticed is that the letter O appears in the middle of the key word ABLE a couple of times on this page.

T, N as leftovers.

If there's a Virgil scholar out there and Virgil used HYACINTHTWO instead of HYACINTH, that would take out the T.

leftovers are E, T.
However, that is assuming PILOTKNOB is valid. If not, then add P,O.B.
