Pronounciation of Sente? I was talking with a friend and realized we have been pronouncing Sente differently. I say it "Sent-ay" and he says it "Sent-ee".
Anyone wanna enlighten me as to which is the correct way?

The japanese word is pronounced 'Sen-tay' so that's how I've been saying it. And since no one else here in small college town New Mexico is playing (yet) I don't have any cross references.

Going along with the pronounciation, is there an agreed upon definition for the reason the name Sente was given to him. I know it was talked about before as being a path in the country in French, but it is also a term in the board game Go.

I have no idea if getting an agreed upon definition will even help anything, I am very new to ARGs in general, but thought that one agreed upon definition might be useful.

ok i'll get my linguist face on
in the latin:
Quote:
sentio sentire sensi sensum [to feel , perceive; to experience, feel the force of a thing; to realize a truth; to hold an opinion, judge, suppose]; legal, [to decide, to vote]. N. pl. of partic. as subst. sensa -orum, [thoughts, sentiments].
sentis -is c. [a thorn-bush , briar].
the french and spanish "sentir" are both derived from this, meaning "to feel/to perceive" and sometimes "to hear/smell or be aware of"
contrary to what you might think, the english verb "to send" isn't derived from the same rounte- it comes from a germanic work meaning "to go on a journey". The real equivalent english word is "to sense".
It all ties in with the perception theme in this arg i guess.
right- dimbleby time i think!! maybe the new Prime Minister will commit some government funds to the search of the cube!

Having actually seen the kanji for the word Sente, in what I believe to be the same context that his name was chosen from, I'm going with the Japanese pronounciation. "Sen" with a short e, "tay" with a long a.
