ah because vpisteve found out that the ip is dodgy - not from where julie said she was from, also it is registered as 2 users, one of which posted as in game and left us a (not so) criptic clue. i think his post is near the bottom on page 1 of this thread.

Just for clarification, do we have any players living in the state of Philidelphia? I can remember if we do or not. If we don't have anyone near the area, the radio idea could be rather difficult.
With the ham radio, if we have people in PA, we can get a ham radio off of ebay or something and surf channels to find her. Are there any clues as to what frequency she might be on?
Just thinking out loud here. Confused

You can't just buy a ham radio, you have to have an amateur radio license from the FCC to be able to operate one. Because you have to have valid ID to get an FCC license, I don't think we'll find one registered to Gertrude Long(fellow) - but it is possible for a club with at least 4 members to have an umbrella type license, where anyone from that shack could operate under the club's license.

I think we all need to go back to Martha's April 11 email and start scanning it for clues again. It may contain the address to Gertrude's ham shack within.

ETA: And as I mentioned before, it is not necessary to have a radio operator in PA. Amateur radio has been used for global communication for decades - there are many ways to extend the range of the signal.

ETA again: I don't think is Gertrude's shack, it belongs to some guy in Indiana, but pay attention to how the guy is relaying his radio call sign - its Morse code, guys. The same way we got the elements of the trinity.

Click for ham operator's site

Yeah, but part of the ham operator's test is a morse code proficiency exam. EVERYONE with a license knows morse code, so hearing it there isn't unusual.

I'm not saying it is unusual that there is morse code on the Indiana guy's site...what I'm saying is there have been many instances of morse code throughout the game so any method of communication that incorporates morse code (ie amateur radio) is something we should pay attention to.

I don't think that Indiana guy has anything to do with Unholy...but we may find a Pennsylvania based ham radio club that is ingame. The trick is finding the right call sign, and the call sign may be hidden somewhere in Martha's April 11 email message.

Remember the original Unholy site source code? It said "CAALLL MMMEE" - not email me. I think the written messages at the site, not the recorded messages, are really from Gertrude.

ETA: I have a hunch. A few months ago when I first started digging into the ham radio theory, I found a ham radio club license that was granted on March 15, 2005 - March is when the Unholy game really started getting rolling. The club license is for the Devon Amateur Radio Club - Devon is only 17 miles away from Downingtown. What's the harm in trying to contact these guys and asking them if Gertrude is a member of the club?

hey kids, I've just gone through all of "WorldOyster's" posts since "she" joined, these are the few that I've picked out, that might be able to help us, since we all believe that "she" was InGame.

Quote:
See, this where I think making it seem like we're actually promoting a movie would help our cause. If we make it seem like we're trying to find a missing person or something (like an SOS), then people would probably be afraid to help us out.

So yeah. she wants us to promote the movie. We already know this. But then she tells us NOT to actually do anything to make it seem like a real person.. this could help us in the long run.

Quote:
It's kinda spelled out to us what we need to do. I don't think HAM Radio is what she meant. I mean, if she wanted us to do that, why wouldn't she just say it? Gertrude has a TV, so I'm going to try and get on TV with a sign saying something like WWW.UNHOLYMOVIE.COM We Know It's More than a Movie. Help Us Gertrude. I think that should grab the attention of some people (hopefully).

She's spelling out the spelled out part for us LoL... So I think she doesn't want us to use HAM Radio...

Quote:
Maybe Hell was just a metaphor for Gertrude being stuck in some terrible lonely place. I duno.

duno = du no = Do Know. ARGH

Quote:
Though the Ham Radio and this Hellschreiber machine are good ideas, I don't see them being very practical. I mean, we don't exactly know where Gertrude is, and if Ham Radio frequencies don't broadcast over a large distance, what's the point?

I really, REALLY think that they don't want us to use the HAM Radio...

Quote:
I'm already making a sign for the TV idea. Anybody else interested in doing stuff like that?

I think they want us to focus on TV

You're lame.

Now go away...

Now, this either means that it was to get us to trust WorldOyster, (creating the character of JTownsend, and when he didn't work and we all were like "yeah... right" WorldOyster came into the mix and helped 'banish him'.." )
OR The INGAME WorldOyster knew that JTownsend was a fake, and was trying to tell us so, that we wouldn't take what he is saying into account.

Quote:
Those pictures are super creepy. Nice job trying to make the images clearer. I wonder if they are real pics. Maybe someone should email the guy who wrote the movie to see where he got them from?

maybe someone should email the guy who wrote?? why WROTE?? wouldn't the pictures be from the guy directing the film, or even the film crew?? why the writer?? I think someone (not me cuz he doesn't seem to speak to me when I try to talk to him... Crying or Very sad ) should instant message SamuelScript on AIM next time he's on to ask him where he got them from... I think I'm starting to figure out who our little Julie really is/was

I'm gonna read through 'her' posts a couple more times to see if I spot anything else before I have to get ready (my prom is tonight!) hope this helps progress things

You're right, the ham thing isn't very practical and loses sight of the PMs overall objective, the promotion of the film. Good for you for combing through her posts for kernals of insight!

Thanks, yeah I was wondering this morning, WHY would they have an InGame player if they didn't want us to move forward on our search, especially when they went to all the trouble of setting up a falsehood of who we were talking to, so I started searching through "her" posts, they mostly say the same thing, "keep going" and "more work" and "she" really pushes the idea of Television coverage of Unholy.

Is it just me, or does anyone else find it annoying that there haven't actually been puzzles for us to solve, or any research, or anything at all.

All we've been doing for the past couple of months is waiting for emails from people (half of whom, weren't even really IG)

When are we going to be given something real, and tangible to be solved?!

I mean, little backwards messages are nice, but there haven't been any puzzles..

I think that's the reason why I find myself not really paying attention to the forums, and then drifting back every couple of weeks incase there's been a real puzzle posted

Or is this just all me?

huh??? Do you mean the City of Philly? or the state of Pennsylvania? I'm right over the bridge from Philly {15-30 minutes depending on city traffic} and where I am we get all the REAL philly radio stations - but i don't own a ham radio. If there is anything I can do to help, let me know. There are quite a few TV stations right over the bridge in philly....

I grew up with ham radio, and even have a limited license (so vhf and uhf frequencies and low wavelength comms only), but my father is a ham radio veteran of approx 50 years, so I know a bit about it - and I can say here and now that I've not once ever heard anyone broadcast morse code across the airwaves. Yes, I do understand that you need an understanding of morse code to operate a radio that broadcasts over a certain wavelength, but I'm wondering if perhaps the morse used in this game is more trying to tie in the World War II theme, as opposed to generating new 'KLOOs'?

and the Movie's not due out for some time - perhaps this is just the pregame?

I dunno, I'm itching for the movie to come out, though - it sounds positively excellent Very Happy

3 Strikes! Am I out?

Hey everyone,

THis is only my third post and my third ARG. My record is not so good:

My first ARG was the Lucratia one we couldn't figure out and got dropped by the PMs.

The second was the aborted fan sequel to ILB.

The third (this one) was botched by the PMs.

I figured if I was going to post a third time, I should buckle down and register, but maybe it's time for me to give up? Ugh.

I'm not as irked that they violated the rules and used posted with an in-game character as I am that they were trying to get us to do viral marketing for their movie!!! That's way beyond breaking the rules.

But, for what it's worth, I'm for the idea of proceeding with the game as the PMs intended it to flow. (I'm positive the Ham idea is a false hope because Julie told us it was.)
