I see from the Sentinel there are yet more startling revelations about the Five of Cups bar. It now seems to have been some sort of den of iniquity, a veritable hothouse of crime. This is, well, a little weird to me because I've actually been there. Only the once, about 18 months ago - the place had a really odd vibe about it, whispered conversations in dark corners and strange looks at newcomers. I only went because my friend Arman said I could get a good game of poker there. Instead, I got a bunch of jittery men with five o'clock shadows staring at me... I don't think I even stayed to finish my drink. I've thought about it since, because I don't usually run out of poker bars without having had a game. Seems I was wiser than I thought.
Anyway, when the Sentinel says that the bar was "notorious as a meeting place for crooks and low-lifes" and that woman they interviewed says it's "not the sort of place decent folks would want to visit", I just wanted to put my hand up and say "um, I would". Then again, maybe I'm not decent folks.

Man, she really loves her words!
The more and more info/attention we get regarding the Five of Cups, the more I start to suspect the ex-owner of knowing something that might have helped us... of course, thats probably what they want us to think(?)
I'm confused again.

She's quite concerned about her hard-assed image isn't she? Most of her posts refer to it or bolster it in some way...what's eating Violet?

This reads very strangely to me...It sounds like she doesn't remember the events that transpired there very well at all. Could she have been drugged or have had her memory erased or some such? The high-tech equipment that was apparately available there could have swiped something from her key to aid in the theft of the cube. An unwitting pawn?
Do we know anything about this friend of hers that said she should go there?

Violet, your nick does confuse me sometimes...I start thinking that you're Violet Kiteway! That last post could almost have been in character!

Sorry I still think they modelled her on me, we're both gorgeous, sophisticated, extremely cool, and like to hang out in dodgy bars...

Granted...I can't say I'm much better - I can't even recall where I've set things done after 5 minutes... but Perplexians are supposed to be mental giants, yes? And she's an avid poker player (that may or may not make her "living" from it) so I would think she would try to keep her wits about her at all times. Maybe the place was just so "beneath" her it didn't earn space in her memory?

personally I prefer street corners ...though they don't seem to prefer me for some reason
Whilst we're on the subject of the senior Miss Kiteway...in HitsHerMarks' E3 card she's wearing specs, which either means she was long-sighted and grew out of it (kids have squashed eyeballs), has had some sort of corrective surgery, or perhaps wears contacts. This should be borne in mind from a health and safety perspective in case she does anything more vigorous in the future or is involved in peril of some kind.

I fail to follow that last post: Violet *does* wear glasses now, surely? I think she's wearing them on the Bar None card as well, and maybe even on the picture on her blog (though maybe not in that case). Scarlett doesn't wear specs. Looking at the family picture more closely, I do think I got something wrong in an earlier post: I said that the figure who looks like a young Violet *wasn't* wearing glasses in the picture, and now I look more closely, I think she is. I also think that she does look to be slightly older than Scarlett does here (how I can tell that I'm not sure - it's something about relative proportions again...)

Actually, this Friday I'm in one of my dodgy bars !
Violet could just wear her glasses for reading. I have to wear mine to read and drive, but I don't wear them all the time. I reckon I'd need them on to study people's poker faces though!
