Guys - I cannot speak for everyone (somebody had to pass on correct names of people checking into our hotel Wink ), but the rest of us were, I believe, completely surprised and pleased. and entertained. In a basically unreal city we brought more layers...

On the other hand if you want otherworldly, watch out for attendees at this week's Goth convention, also in scenic LV now. Imagine a table full of full-gear-and-makeup goths at the next table in Quark's Bar at the Star Trek Experience.

And then Dave brought us CTW swag . . . We're all gamed up for the weekend!

Ozy - I tried many variations on FOIA to see if there were any pages at LLL; no luck.

And re Veen's find about smart people. Can those be the only ones out there? Let's try and grow some more smart people in the next game . ..

You want a Tribble? We have plenty of Tribbles. In fact, Diandra bought two of them at Quarks on Saturday night.

(sorry, didn't get the picture).

The entire contents of the CD, minus the trailers, is posted as a zipped file here.

They breed asexually - even ONE is begging for trouble.

But I think the ones they sell are fixed... Laughing

FOIA

I'm wondering whether my LLL business card was merely a way to get my attention since I have demonstrated in the past that it takes something legal-related to drag me into participating in a game. But maybe more will come of it. Or maybe we all completely missed the point of this clue.

Just FYI, the latest version of FOIA, known as "Electronic FOIA" updated the old act about making government documents available to the public. Used to be all agencies had to maintain reading rooms with collections of commonly-requested items (stuff not otherwise published anywhere) to save FOIA requesters some work.

The updated act mandated that these reading rooms go online. So between agencies generally publishing more stuff on their websites and the online FOIA reading rooms, we have ready access to lotsa stuff. [Hence the electronic reading room kickout found by grumpyboy.]

While simple FOIA requests were very easy, for anything sophisticated we used to have to guess whether/what documents existed and then ask for them in a FOIA request and hope we had guessed right about how to describe them. And then we had to pay research costs and copying costs for any serious research work by govt FOIA personnel. All the web stuff reduces that burden. Of course we still file requests for unpuiblished
stuff, and earn our fees arguing over the scope and applicability of the disclosure exceptions in FOIA. But that's a message for another time.

Prelaunch walkthrough

A walkthrough of the mini-quest in Las Vegas has been posted at ARGN, for the benefit of those not there.

Yer not gonna believe it. I was thinking about the FOIA clue again that we never got to use at the ARG-fest-o-con. And I figured it out. <slaps head>

imbri, space, laz and scrappy had the right ID (LLL_PLLC), and the password was indeed FOIA, only not by name. It was the cite to the statute, minus the spaces: 5usc552 . Which I actually knew off the top of my head. Didn't occur to me in vegas to send anyone back to try when we met up with the other group. Delayed reaction puzzler. Don't count on me for the quick answer.

And I'm in!

There's a message from xover222: "I'm gone. I hope you got the CDs at some point."

I didn't answer. xover222's profile is yawningly empty. And oops, I just added him as a friend of LLL_PLLC.

Interestingly, while playing around with Y!M which I swore I would not do on this computer (but this is supposed to be the low impact version) I found that vadindc is a friend of aliendial! I don't remember setting it up, but there it is . . . Not online at the mo. Smile

and before I could log out someone named osiemarie came in and asked if I was stephen. I said no, he had given me his pw to pick up a message and "she" said OK and we said bye. I kinda lingered to see if she wanted to talk, but apparently not. Except now I am playing around because I've closed the chat window but "forgotten" to close the other window and log out of the LLL account. I feel shoo-ed out.

I, dashcat, am also osamarie in yahoo. Aliendial I thought you were Stephen Lake! I almost posted about my contact with someone retrieving SL's messages. This is funny. I guess I'll disregard the hundreds of people going into LLL's yahoo account.

I figured it was either one of us or one of the PMs keeping an eye on the account, so in case it was a PM I played it "straight." Nice ta meetcha, dashcat.
